Grats on your team's victory!
I'd have preferred to arrive in a wagon with Davi, personally. Not really sure how you'd pack men and ladies on the same wagon, on an extended 1 week trip...maybe I'm thinking too much into Victorian times, or I'm a prude >.< Sorry for inconvenience caused.
*waves at Ladile*
But your Avatar is so fluffy! Horror, really?
Gosk - get well soon!

Down here for funerals, we usually pay the pallbearers(probably cos we're small sized and not used to physical labour-better to pay someone who will do it properly), so at first I didn't get the significance of not having any pallbearers.
But I had a feeling there was more to it, especially having no one but us showing up for the funeral. So I googled, and realized that in other places the reason you have no pallbearers is because the rest of your friends/family shunned you. Then I realized what an insult had been given.

But your Avatar is so fluffy! Horror, really?
Heh! Considering that I wound up in two separate PbP games of Carrion Crown and am looking forward to eventually playing Strange Aeons as well as The Blight...yes, really. Also, my second favorite campaign setting after Golarion would be Ravenloft so there you go :3
And yeah as far as I know, for most places in the States you have family and/or close friends act as pallbearers at a funeral.
GM Aest
I'd never heard that before, but it wouldn't surprise me if Paizo knew when they wrote this whole scene.
GM Aest
Happy Birthday! Take your time, I'm trying to do every other day in this and my Eberron game, so we're off-cycle unless I get free time and everyone's ready.
Vara
Oh dear, dice roller. We're sorry for any offense we might have given your cat.
Vara
We have definitely offended the dice roller's cat in some way. Oh great dice roller's cat, please tell us how we may make amends.

Ahem, watch who you're talking to.
*pops out retractable claws*
But cats I tell you, are misunderstood. The average dog is more likely to bark at you then a cat. Most cats don't care a hoot about humans, unless they've adopted you. Then all your laps and chairs belongs to them :)
A little tip about RL animal handling. Don't show fear, make sudden noises/movements when dealing with animals. Those tend to startle the animal in question, and startled animals act unpredictably.
Actually, I get to do it a little because my phone camera sucks(the zoom function is horrible), and I love taking photos of animals. So I have to move close to the animal in question to get a good picture.
GM Aest
Sorry guys. You had a noble shot at that one, but just not quite enough.
I'll try to find a document regarding Trust Scores, which are important, but for now, let's just say you want to get the people of Ravengro to trust you. It's important.
Also, cats are the best. Low energy, low maintenance, fun to pet.
Gosk Tereus
Uh. Yeah. I got the character page on the Discussion page, but I'll copy it to the actual page. Lost in translation, as it is.
Considering Gosk learned about (and actual necromancy) from the Professor, the situation is somewhat... interesting.
Also, my bad. The Diplomacy mod is actually +7, and not +9, so it was an even longer shot.
Colonel Tipper
Since it has come up, to our knowledge was the Professor a spellcaster? To our knowledge, is there any truth to the accusation of him being a necromancer?
I'm going to assume that the answer to the second question (at least for my character) is no, but clarification of this would be nice. I know that it may be different for different characters.
Thanks!
Gosk Tereus
In which case, Gosk will lay the casket down, and do nothing else. He doesn't think that others need to share his (or in the case, Davi's too) beliefs on mortal coils, and respects the customs.

I think Davi is having internet problems. She's always prompt all the time I've known her.
GM Aest
I'll GMPC her, but not until tonight when I get back home.

Hello. There will be no post today.
I just got home from a meeting with all of the literacy paraprofessionals in my school district, as well as about half of the computer paraprofessionals. Due to "budget cuts" (read: the previous superintendent was a big spender, and the new one decided 3000 iPads were more important than staff), every one of those paraprofessionals is losing their job at the end of the year.
Needless to say, I'm unhappy, and will likely begin drinking in the next two hours, once I pick up my mom and some vodka/red bull. I'll be making sub plans so that the other staff doesn't have to deal with me hung over and bitter, but I won't be in much shape to post, I'm afraid.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! My computer is very angry. For now I'm stuck posting from my phone. Bot me as necessary. I meant to get in a short post yesterday but it went to hell in a hand basket.
Gosk Tereus
Wow. I'm really sorry to hear that, GM, and I fully understand. I'm not even going to advise not mixing vodka and bull, which I usually do.
I hope there's a way to resolve the situation better, though. Good luck about that!
Vara
Why are iPads more important then people? I personally feel that too much exposure (especially in young kids) to electronic devices ruins a good reading mind.
LINK - not quite the same device, but he's got the jist of it right.
I'd give him a good kick...but that'd be assault.
If you do want to avoid a hangover, hydrate yourself liberally after you drink all that stuff. I've heard it works.
Take as much time as you need.

I hate when the people hurt by bad decisions are not the ones who made them. Even worse when the bad decisions are about the education of the next generation.
Computers are tools. Tools need someone who knows how to use them in order to be useful. Without the people to do that, it just becomes a waste of resources.
Take care of yourself. I hope you do find a new opportunity soon!
GM Aest
Yeh, I was going to get to that tonight. Making my rounds now, expect something in the next three to four hours.
Colonel Tipper
Delay, till just before Tipper
I think we are doing grouped initiative, where it is just who posts earlier that determines order within a group of initiatives. That is why all three of us (Gosk, Vara, Tipper) were called out to do our actions.
On the next round I'll wait a bit before posting so you have a chance to post first, but you might as well take your turn this round.

Nope. They're doing nonlethal. It's taken into account in their rolls, according to the book.

Strangely enough - I'd be quite concerned about Kendra's spell casting - who, if anyone trained her? Do we know before this that she is a magic user? I'd be more worried if she was untrained - i.e powers breaking out in the middle of a superstitious nation is likely to get you into trouble, especially if it comes out in offensive magics. If she is untrained, Vara would like to teach her the rudiments of spellcraft, and about the list of things she shouldn't do.
Davi Accerlas
I know that a Spellcraft check lets you identify a spell. Maybe you could use it to see how well the person is crafting said spell? Like, does she look like an amateur or a professional?
Gosk Tereus
That's a pretty smart use of Spellcraft! Like using Craft to determine the quality of the item. Craft is in the name, after all.
And necromancy gets such a bad rap. Don't know if that's official Paizo lore or just the common stereotypical superstitiousness.
Vara
More importantly - prepared or spontaneous caster? I.e use of spell component pouches, holy symbols.
Prepared casters = usually not so much of a problem, their gods(if clerics)/books(if wizards), should teach them what to do. However, some- like witches, shamans, may be a problem. Druids usually know how to stay out of trouble due to their inherent neutral bias (just hope not NE).
Spontaneous casters = could be a problem. If the powers are breaking out due to stress, and manifest in a Burning hands...that's DEFINITELY a problem.
Bottom line - Kendra shouldn't fear her powers(just makes controlling them worse), but should know how and when to use them. Vara isn't the sort of person who would turn her back on a budding spellcaster, to have them be driven into madness by their inability to control their powers, less say one that is the daughter of Professor Lorrimir.
I have a general dislike of necromancy, it's always one of my forbidden schools if I play a wizard. Mainly for practical reasons - since a lot of the power lies in animating the dead, and that sort of thing gets you kicked out of town fairly quickly. Therefore it's one of those schools I feel is safe to drop.
Davi Accerlas
Off topic-ish, but I've wanted to play the 3PP White Necromancer for a while now. I think the cross of the traditionally evil necromancy with someone who is a healer would make for an interesting dichotomy.
BretI
It really depends on how Necromancy is defined. Healing spells used to be classified as necromancy. If animating undead is done via summoning a demon and binding it to the body, that is evil. If it is a more neutral spirit, it depends on the details of the method. If it doesn't depend on binding any spirits, it may still be in bad taste but isn't necessarily evil.

In a non pathfinder world, if I fell fighting a bbeg, and someone came along and offered to animate my corpse with my spirit, so I could finish my unfinished business, hell, I'd sign on, and even thank the necromancer in question in granting me a chance for vengeance.
I don't see the above scenario as an evil act. Unfortunately, in pathfinder, any animation of dead bodies is automatically classified as evil.
GM Aest
For what it's worth, Kendra is a more competent spellcaster than any of you are (for the moment). Her spell selection happens to be terrible, but her skills are solid.
As for necromancy and the ethics behind it...
I'm usually pretty neutral on the subject. I think that, personally, there's a lot of good that could be done by using such "evil" in a wise way. However, for this game, necromancy is evil. Not, perhaps, in an objectively moral sort of way, but in terms of how you're perceived. Necromancers are just another one of Ustalav's horrors, and the people of Ustalav know how to protect themselves from them (r at least think they do).
Vara
Thanks Bret, was having a long no computer phase. The spell Magic Jar lets you transfer your soul into another body. If you placed your old body in a bag of holding, walked to town in your new one...who is it to know that necromancy was being practiced, right in front of their eyes ^^ Especially if the new body was human....
GM Aest
Hi, all. Do you think you could do me a huge favor? Could you put quick stats in your header, where it says Class/Level? Something like what Tipper or Vara have would be great. It'd help me with writing combats in the future.
