[GD5] GM Lari's Confirmation (Inactive)

Game Master Dhenn

CURRENT MAP

Silver Crusade

Hi everyone!

Last gameday, I ended up running First Steps and the Wounded Wisp for a group of newcomers to PBP, some new to PFS in general, others long term. It was a lot of fun, and some of those players are now PBP GMs themselves.

This year, I wanted to repeat the process, with another old standby, The Confirmation. While I'd prefer new to new-ish PBP players, if there are openings by the time the Gameday starts I'll take others.

Posting at least 1/day is the goal. I might delay or bot people if they're holding up combat.

This will technically start with the rest of the slot 1 games on 8/27. However, I will be traveling that weekend, so the game won't really get moving until a couple days later.

If you're interested, post below, and hopefully we'll get your character fulling Confirmed in the Pathfinder Society!

Hi GM Lari. I would like to play please. Shield Champion Brawler.

Hello GM Lari. I'd like to play as well, please ... my first time for PBP, not entirely new to Pathfinder, though hardly an old hand.

Liberty's Edge

I would like to play also. With a pregen. Maybe Magus, maybe Inquisitor. Have not yet decided.

Grand Lodge

if you need a body to round out the party i will throw my hat in....but only if you don't get enough new people. I can bring in whatever the party needs if i play...

Silver Crusade

I am certainly not new to Pathfinder, but this would be my First (Second? I'm trying to play 2 games on the game day) PbP. I have a -stack- of Level 1s, with a little bit of everything that can round out a party. I'd like to play, but if there are more new players, I am willing to let them play instead.

I'm not new to PFS but I have only played 2 PbP so far. I wouldn't mind starting out my Hunter character and his buddy Dr. Hibbert (Frog AC) with Confirmation.

As a newcomer to PbP (haven't actually gotten to play in one yet) but not PF this intrests me as well. While I have ideas for characters I generally play what the party needs.

Silver Crusade

So far we have:

  • Nesthios: Shield Champion Brawler
  • Benboy
  • Ietsuna: Pregen Inquisitor or Magus
  • Grimdog73
  • Korolan
  • Bigguyinblack: Hunter
  • Sygel

Grimdog, it looks like you probably won't be joining us. With the rest of you, we'd have 6, so I'm going to call this party tentatively filled.

For the rest of you, a few notes:

As a reminder, this is a Pathfinder Society game. You'll need to have a PFS number and create a character using PFS rules, or use a pregenerated character. If you need help with either of those steps, let me know.

You probably already have an alias for your PFS character, but I'll also need you to fill in some character information. I'll post with an example below.

You should see a number of tabs above my first post. Please click on the "Gameplay" tab and post in there. That will make the campaign show up in your "Campaigns" portion of your profile.

  • Silver Crusade

Take a look at this character (click on the name), for an example of what your character sheet could look like. It doesn't need to be this detailed, but it should have all the necessary information about your character. Look at the PFS pregens for guidance if you need it.

You'll also notice a bunch of weird stuff in her Class/Race and Level sections. That enables the basic information (saves, HP, AC, etc.) to show up above all your posts, which makes things much easier for me. Please do your best to keep those lines updated over the course of the scenario.

    Grand Lodge

Dortlin is fairly normal. 18 Str, a reach weapon, and combat reflexes. Dr. Hibbert is.. strange. I'll go into detail when the discussion thread opens up.

    Liberty's Edge

Ok, Nesthios needs to name his character. The alias is created and ready to go. I will create one for my pregen.

    Grand Lodge

it's all good man....no worries....just wanted to make sure you had a full table for the new guys...

    Grand Lodge

No Discussion thread yet so I'll go into more detail of my character here if it will help people choose what to play.
Dortlin is a Hunter with 18 Str and an Earthbreaker. A weapon with 10ft reach that deals good damage. He also has combat reflexes. In place of his Human feat he has an alternate racial ability called Eye For Talent granting +2 to a stat of my choice to an animal companion.

A frog animal companion normally only has 1 Int but Dr. Hibbert has 3. So he knows a lot of tricks including the aid trick, Allowing him to use the Aid Other action.

Once per day per level Dortlin can spend a swift action to gain an animal focus for 1 minute. Probably +2 to str but there are a lot of options.

I also grant Dr. Hibbert an animal focus but his lasts all day. His is +2 str.

Dr. Hibbert has 2 abilities. Tongue and Pull.
The Tongue is a 15ft melee attack. It counts as a primary attack and targets touch AC. It deals no damage but if it successfully touches it then gets a free grab attempt. Per the rules of Grab he will then automatically pull the target into an adjacent square. Usually into a flank or next to Dortlin. Moving the target like that does not grant opportunity attacks.
The enemy will have the grappled condition but Dr. Hibbert will not.
If the tongue hits but the grab attempt fails Dr. Hibbert can try a Pull maneuver pulling the target 5ft.
Dr. Hibbert also has Combat Reflexes. Meaning he can use his tongue attack as an opportunity attack even when flat-footed. Though once he has grabbed an enemy he can't make more attacks.

Dortlin is strong but not very tough.
Dr. Hibbert does not do much damage and is fragile.
We are both handy to have around but we both can go down to a lucky blow.
I built this character before but changed my mind at level 2. The tongue is very versatile. It has prevented a bird from escaping to tattle to it's master, It has pulled a downed ally out of harms way, and it has grabbed a very annoyed caster preventing them from casting spells.

Since we both have combat reflexes and reach we both like being in the front line.

One question that is a grey area and will be up to GM Lari is "Can the tongue be used to help flank?"

Dortlin sounds pretty cool! I only have one question:

    ...

What is giving the Earth breaker Reach? Normally it doesn't have reach.

Could you be thinking of the Lucerne Hammer?

Yep got the 2 confused. He has the Lucerne hammer.

Cleric here; I'll have the character up in the next day or so.
