Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor suggests the group moves to his home for the night. "I got enough space by now to offer each of you their own bed. Might not be enough for a room of your own though."
Before leaving he asks Bevaluu if she would do this dreamwalking thing Ardan suggested.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Bevaluu agrees. Agreed meeting point for the next morning is Abomentolor's Bar for breakfast after sunrise.
Pulara answers the prayer of Ardan for support by sending a Bridijidine. A companion quite striking in the twilight of the upcoming night. Also a challenge for indoor housing, as the lady turns any room into a tepidarium within minutes.
Luckily the Shadow Clock is made of stone and most of the interior walls are magically created stone walls, so only the furniture and the wooden floor in the bar are in danger of catching fire. Another side effect is that people in the same room with her who prefer to sleep in darkness are screwed.
Ardan, you do the RP for your Bridijidine please.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
As Ardan appears in the tap room at the morning with a Bridijidine Abomentolor gets very excited. "Wow, you're hot! Nice to meet you, I'm Abomentolor. And you are?" He offers her a hand.

An Azata! A powerful ally to have with us. But how will we bring her with us? We have to touch to travel and you may be too hot to handle. Can someone resist fire for the moment it takes us to travel?
Speaking of which when do we want to show our new companions what we face? After breakfast and an update if Priestess Bevaluu has any information for us?
Ardan Kiel |
Ok, 1) I owe Foxy a spell prep post for the morning. 2) WRT to the fire touching thing, I suspect that Abomentolor has it covered with fire resitance 20 from his bloodline. 3) Underwater Exploration >>> Life Bubble.
Ardan provides breakfast for all, conjuring a magnificent spread (Heroes Feast). He then starts answering questions...

"I think Abomentolor should be able to withstand her touch, provided Atua is not roused to wrath. As we have break our fast, her wisdom will aid us in laying our plans..."
I can mix a concoction to protect us from fire. But what about when we decide to explore under water?
"I am not sure the ocean is enough to quench her fires - volcanoes sometimes rise from the ocean - but if need be, my mistresses gifts can protect her."

*** Last Night ***
”Indeed, I have called, and my Lady has answered my prayers. I am Ardan Kiel, and I have called for aid to deal with the return of Xin, first emperor of Thassilon. The re-assembly of the Sihedron has apparently called his soul back to Golarion, and now he makes plans to conquer all of Varisia. Tomorrow morning our small of band of heroes will venture forth to try to defeat him before his army of constructs marches. I ask you to lend your full might to our cause. Please, accept these gifts and help us defend Varisia”
Ardan hands over the Ring of Force Shield and the mithral Chain Shirt +3, and a sparkling blue sapphire. (total value 19000gp)
Atua Fafine |
*** Last Night ***
"An errantry! It has been many years since I walked Golarion to fight the good fight. I accept your terms, I will aid your expedition against Xin."
Having come to terms with Ardan, Atua melds herself into the local stone for the night, agreeing to come forth to meet the team and discuss plans with the dawn...

*** In the Morning ***
As Ardan appears in the tap room at the morning with a Bridijidine Abomentolor gets very excited. "Wow, you're hot! Nice to meet you, I'm Abomentolor. And you are?" He offers her a hand.
Atua takes Abo's hand, and replies "I am Atua Fafine o le Afi ma le Lefulefu" observing that he does not burn and his general deportment, she bestows a dazzling smile upon him. "A mortal who can tolerate my fire is rare indeed, tell me more about yourself..."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Fire is my element. I used to throw it at every problem I faced and over time I became like fire myself. With the side effect, that only really strong fire can harm me at all."
"Your name is really long. I already forgot half of it before you ended telling it. Sorry, I'm bad with names. Do you have like a first name in that, that I could call you?"
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Grergof looks at Spugnoir in surprise.
Wait he can resist fire... Oh I guess that makes sense.
I always though it was your drinks that kept us all safe.
I wonder what other secrets our little friend holds?

As the group finally leaves the tavern the first way leads them to Bevaluu. She describes the flight to the island and the unsuccessfol further tries to get inside of the palace. "It is closed on all sides and had no openings I could get into it. The only thing I found while exploring the island for any hints to get in, was some huge aboleth moving in the water between the plots of dry land."
Last time the group slipped in in cloud form and didn't open the entrance door. As the 'arcane eye' is Bevaluu sized and can't slip through cracks, nor open doors as it is no remote controlled body, this is already where the spell fails to deliver.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Abolith. So we need Protection from mental control.
Ardan Kiel |
"Give me 15 minutes to pray and I will have communal protection from evil available. However, I will ask if we care. The aboleth is outside the walls of the citadel, and your teleportation magic is attuned to a door inside..."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Can we stop with beating around the bush then and get to beating some constructs?" Abomentolor inquires impatiently.
Flat learing curve here. ;)
Ardan Kiel |
Ardan casts a Magic Vestment (Extended, Rod) on his shield, overland flight and finally Tears to Wine (Extended, Rod) on a bottle and passes it around.
"All right, I think we've gathered just about as much information as we can, have prepared ourselves as much as possible, so let's go."
Foxy Quickpaw |
The new toy gifted from the Pathfinders is put to use and the group returns to the place of their defeat. Strange glyphs crawl like living things across the walls of this chamber. Obsidian pews float lazily in a haphazard arrangement before an unusual statue of a six-winged, mouthless woman, her hands outstretched. A silver, seven-pronged helmet in the shape of the Sihedron rune rests on her head.
Spugnoir2 |
Spugnoir starts chugging
Heroism (+2 attack/saves/skills)
See Invisible
Countless Eyes(All around vision, can't be flanked)
Heighten Awareness (+2 Perception and Knowledge skills)
I have more depending on where we will be going.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Stay away from the symbol on the statue, it is what killed Father Redgrave. Do we want to go after the helmet here or move on?
Grergof pulls out his flail and prays over it while he gets and answer from the others.
Divine Bond on the Fail to make it a +5 Flaming flail and Veil of Possitvie Energy.
Oh Mr. Spugnoir, can I get shield extract again?
Then he takes the shield Extract and drinks it.

"Yes, I can withstand it's power without risk, and I will cover it over with stone to protect you mortals."
Once we leave the room (and thus get out of the effect radius - 60', she will use her stone shape ability to cover the symbol with a sheet of stone. It can't affect her, she has 256+temp HP...

"Well, I think you got interrupted before you could properly search this room last time. Given the nasty traps, I surmise there might be something of interest in here... So let's take a look around."
Ardan searches the room carefully,

Perception + ToW: 1d20 + 16 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 10 = 41
As he looks he calls back.
Given this place do you not assume we will be attacked as soon as we move to the next door?
Foxy Quickpaw |
Outside the room is the throneroom. A throne of jagged black crystal grows from the center of this massive hall under a hundred-foot-high cathedral-like ceiling. Two lines of motionless automaton warriors stand at attention to the east of the throne, forming a path up to the ruler’s seat. Below, the floor is crystal-clear, like glass, allowing observation of a second immense room below. This second room is flooded with seawater but is fitfully illuminated by what appear to be schools of strange glowing fish. The floor is not visible deep below through the gloomy water, but about sixty feet beyond the throne to the west, the floor’s transparent nature is obscured by a twenty-foot-square section of black crystal set flush into the ground. Below, what appears to be a regiment of constructed soldiers of metal and gears seems to float in the water, with successive layers of metal soldiers descending down into the gloom.
Ardan Kiel |
A phylactery of positive channeling and an assortment of 12 small golden idols of Lissala (worth 1,000) gp each float among the unanchored pews.
Add those to the loot sheet I guess - they phylactery is pretty unusable, because it conflicts with a headband of wisdom...
@Foxy - is there a map up somewhere? The battle maps link at the top just leads to a "Sorry, the file you have requested has been deleted."Outside the room is the throneroom. @Foxy, I think, the party previously fought those automatons and smashed them up. Has some force repaired them?
Foxy Quickpaw |
On a closer look you see the junk from a few destroyed constructs scattered over the place.
Most of them were dysfunctional to start with and are still standing in line. And we don't have a map currently. The throne room stretches from east to west, with the entrance on the east. You are at the next room on the west. The three rooms on the south are explored already. The one to the north isn't.
Ardan Kiel |
Sorry Foxy, but we needed to know if something was fixing the destroyed constructs - that's Important Info...
Ardan casts Detect magic and checks out the room, especially the throne and the black crystal square...
uses multiple rounds as required.

The whole place glows with strong magic. But the strongest source in the vincinity is the black square of stone that radiates strong transmutation magic.
The throne stands about in the middle, and you are at its back. The black stone is one third of the way from where you are to the throne. The throne room has a length of 260 feet and is 80 feet wide.

"I'm not sure what that black stone square is enchanted to do, but it's strongly magical, and if it's a trap it's a tricky one."
Brother Grergof Varsk |
You all want to investigate more or open the last door?
Ardan Kiel |
Check the door.
"Seconded, let's not leave possible trouble in our backtrail."
Ardan Kiel |
So who do we want on point, The Goddess of Fire and Ash, Brother Grergof, or Spugnoir (trap detection)?
