Hmmmmm. Choices, choices when leveling.
Debating:
-Two-Fisted Edge (lets me make two attacks with no multi-action penalty). Still take a -2 for not being Ambidextrous, but only on one attack, so it's still pretty solid.
-Brawler (+2 damage). Prerequisite for something I believe, is the only reason.
-Raising Fighting and Energy Weapons both to d8
-Sweep. Because Roundhouse Kick.
Wish I could take Block, Dodge, or Combat Reflexes, but apparently you need to be a Seasoned fighter for even basic survival techniques.

I think for this Advance I'm gonna increase my Healing and Fighting dice by a step. Spencer's learning new things each day out here, and this encounter (along with the others) taught him that sometimes he can't help but get up close and personal, and that people are going to get hurt. Somebody needs to be able to patch them up, and if it's gonna be him, he needs to stay alive long enough to do that.
Mickey Rios
I took the Elan edge. It's an extra +2 on a trait check when I spend a Benny to reroll.

I'm working on making an editable map using a spreadsheet on Google Docs so we don't have to free form combat anymore. It's been working nicely on the other game I started up, at one of the players' suggestions. It's crude, but the fact anyone can edit it really allows for movement with each character, and it seems like while I'll need to use my computer to set it up, I'll be able to view and maybe even edit with my phone.
Popping the link in the campaign description.
Rynjin, I really recommend this for your games, since you, too, sometimes are on your phone for play, and Roll20 isn't phone friendly.

Gonna go ahead and lock in Two-Fisted as my Advance I think. Lets me Knuckle one fool and Unarmed attack another.
Speaking of...are there Unarmed weapons for other limbs, you think? Can I have a Power Foot? Deathclaw Elbow Pads? Ballistic Knee?
So much less cool describing of actions allowed when you HAVE to hit with a punch.
Edit: Actually that brings up another maybe odd question...do I take an off-hand penalty for attacking with kicks/knees/elbows rather than my left hand?
The Green Tea Overseer
I will say it counts as an offhand until you get ambidextrous. The simple fact is it's designed to require two edges to attack twice without penalty. You can reflavor ambidextrous as full body control, or whatever, but yeah. In either case if you attack twice without ambidextrous, one of the hits will always be "off hand". Mechanically speaking, multiple attacks in SW are rare, and hard to pull off, and offer a rather large advantage. Improved frenzy with two fisted is the most you can ever take at three hits, or a full auto gun with the Rock and Roll edge. (Although I gave gatling laser four shots per round, it's the only weapon that can do that.)
I don't mind you using a repair roll to rerig an unarmed weapon to another body part, though. That actually sounds pretty cool.

A shame Spaulding is not around. I saw scranford mention being out of town for a business trip in another thread. Would have been nice to be told that in the future. I would've botted him, for one, in the combat.
Rynjin
So assuming a Snake Eyes on a Vigor roll is as bad as I expect it to be...any way Fitz can McGyver up a Radaway?
Apparently all that's needed (according to Fallout 4) is plastic, some purified water, some Glowing Fungus, and some sort of antiseptic.
I could totally whip up a liquor based Radaway, right? Assuming someone can scavenge me some fungus.

Quest: Get message to Palatka (near Daytona) for someone to pick up their shipment of farming supplies from the Brotherhood of Steel.
Reward: 1,000 caps worth of gear.
Trying to look and find if the Scribe gave us a Name for a contact. I don't see one. Can we retcon that, GM?

Quest Log
Quest: Kill ants at power plant factory outside Palatka. Report to Sheriff, once completed.
Reward: 5,000 caps for the Ant Queen's head.
thegreenteagamer
...and the guy responsible for holding all the character sheets left them at the house of the one player who couldn't make it tonight due to being at a Christmas party, so we can't get them. So never mind that.
The Green Tea Overseer
Just a heads up - this is planned to be a dungeon, straight up. So I'm waiting until you guys say you're ready to go to get it started.
I've got a map up on the campaign page (not including the ant hole itself to the queen). You will spot the ants that are outdoors from about where I placed you all on the map (scroll down). I know we haven't used maps before now, but tactical positioning and cover and stuff like that all make a bigger deal in SW than PF, so I want to give it a try. When everyone has given the okay, I'll get it started. Also, I know you can see the ants already. I'd appreciate if you don't meta with that. We're all adults here (as far as I know). It just makes life a lot easier for me that way.

Ready.
Rynjin
So, we have 5000 caps worth of "credit" at the store, we should buy some supplies.
Fitz is probably gonna buy a Bladed Gauntlet. And then make his Brass Knuckles into a studded knee-plate at some point. Random nitpick...shouldn't a Bladed Gauntlet have a larger damage die than Brass Knuckles?
We should all probably buy at least 1 Rad-X and Rad-Away. Or AT LEAST least the latter. Stimpaks would be smart as well. Something tells me our current paradigm of "Spend all our Bennies so we don't die" won't work here.
Given that some stuff here is for all of us equally, I vote we split the pot 5 ways: 1000 caps for each of us, and 1000 caps for the Party Fund.
Alternately, we buy the group stuff first and then split what remains.
The Green Tea Overseer
The damage potential between the two in the videogame is suprisingly negligible. I thought that increased armor piercing (which in chitanous insects who have armor 3 for their exoskeletons is basically extra damage) would cover that nicely.
Unarmed weapons, without the martial arts edges and brawler edges, are weaker than standard melee...but with those edges add up to a lot more, especially since the really good standard melee are two handed.
thegreenteagamer
Incidentally, if you guys have loot wish lists, let me know. I'll try to work them into future locations that make sense. No sense dropping a super sledge if everyone is one handed, for example.
Rynjin
-Any kind of explosives
-Gooder armor
-A Deathclaw gauntlet for all 8 appendages
-A Gauss Rifle
-A Plasma Rifle
-Some Bobby Pins like jeez we have none whatsoever
-A super duper blooper tool kit
-Purified Water
-Radaway
Some of this stuff is clearly for later game, I mean unless you WANT to gimme...?
Mickey Rios
Shotguns and rifles are what I plan on specializing in.
thegreenteagamer
Except you can dual wield here, where you can't in the videogames (can you in pt 4? Haven't played yet) or use shields.
But yes, by and large, two hands rocks harder.
Also, did you see the two shotgun edges?
Oh, and Ryn, you've been to three stores and bobby pins are really cheap.
Rynjin
No dual wielding or shields in 4. You don't have to equip grenades as a separate weapon any more though.
And yeah, we've been to stores...but I was hoping we'd find some so I don't HAVE to buy them. Besides, bobby pins includes "Fancy schmancy electronic bobby pins". =)
Spencer Collin
Do any of us have lockpicking? I haven't checked yet. That's the main reason Spencer hasn't bought any--well, that and his lack of flowing locks that need kept in check.
Note to self: replacement character is a thief type with a luscious mane.
As for drops, I'm honestly fine with whatever. Things that are directly useful for us would be awesome, but it also feels appropriate for us to occasionally find a really cool thing... that none of us know how to use well. Or at least that doesn't feel totally customized to us. I like that SW is less reliant on overspecialization than PF, so for example, even though Mickey and I plan more on longarms than pistols, we'll still be pretty good with a revolver or something. At least for a while.
In any case, Spencer's probably gonna stick with Light-to-Medium armor, and is also a ranged combatant--rifles are up his alley, although shotguns and pistols are also great in a pinch. More medical supplies is never a bad thing.
For now, shopping in town, Spencer will definitely spend some credit on RadAway, at least enough to get his levels in check. A Stimpak might be a nice addition to that if folks are okay with springing for it, so he's at peak condition as we venture in. Other than that and maybe some basic supplies like food (I think we have enough water now), I think I'm set. I've still got plenty of ammo, a melee weapon for just in case, and if it's okay I think I'll take Fitz's armored vault suit, and "reflavor" it as him reattaching the pieces to Spencer's suit, if that's alright. Just a little extra protection would be nice.
thegreenteagamer
Alright, well sounds like we're almost ready except for Spaulding. Don't forget to take your share of equipment and cash, modify your character sheets, etc.
Also, I'm gonna call that a scene. It was a slow one, and not much happened, so 1xp, but your Bennies refill.
thegreenteagamer
Normally it would mean you go back down to 3; they're use em or lose em. That being said, just keep it. It was a nice bonus for a real funny IC moment, and you didn't really have an instance where you COULD have used it.
Spencer Collin
Alright, I think my shopping list is as follows:
RadAway, 2 doses, 50% discount: 500 caps
Stimpak: 175 caps
Machete, 10% discount: 45 caps
20 gauge 3/0 Buck rounds, 30: 30 caps
For a total of 750 caps. A significant portion of our pay, unfortunately, but I think it's worth me not being almost useless for this adventure. The machete and shotgun rounds, I'm willing to pass on if the group would prefer; they're mostly so Spencer has a stronger melee option if he gets swarmed again, and for a lethal (and armor-piercing!) option for his shotgun.
Nathan "Fitz" Fitzpatrick
So, Fitz will purchase with his 1000 caps:
Bladed Gauntlet (180 caps)
Stimpak (175 caps)
Radaway (250 caps)
Rad-X x2 (200 caps)
Dynamite x 5 (125 caps...or less if it counts for 10% discount.)
Lighter (2 caps)
= 832 caps spent
And I'll save the rest.
My suggestion for party fund use:
2 Radaway
4 Stimpaks
Keeping it simple. I imagine we'll get irradiated less than injured.
Spencer Collin
Well, I figured avoiding spending all our pay before we get it might be good. That way we actually get a reward for ourselves at the end!
Getting some medicine to bring along might not be a bad idea, though. Some RadX would be great. Honestly, we may wanna buy out the store, since she mentioned only having five of each, I think.
Rynjin
Well, the whole point of us getting credit was so we'd be geared up and ready to go for the dungeon crawl ahead.
Up until now, we've had single combat days, meaning we could blow our Bennies on reducing damage every round.
Multiple combats should be expected here, however. That means the healing items are needed.
Similarly, dead enemy = no damage, so killing it faster is a good idea.
