Male Overdeity 9001

For OOC chatter and GM clarifications

Human Sorceress

So what's the deal with backstories? Do we share them with the party or play them close to the chest?

Male Overdeity 9001

Basically post whatever you feel comfortable sharing. I, as a player, usually like to have a feel for other people's backstories so I can think of future RP. If you want to play it close to the vest then that's fine too.

Male Overdeity 9001

By request, here are the ground rules for posting. Everything open for discussion and I promise I'll try to be flexible.

Length: Post as much as you want. I'll generally prefer a long post for RP but one line is fine especially in a conversation.

Combat is generally one line. Feel free to describe what you're doing. Something like "Arcane swirled around him as he communed with the arcane forces of the universe. His fingers twitched and he chanted the magical words from the arcane tongue. Soon heat poured from his hands, growing steadily larger and larger until it became a mighty fireball. Bill threw the fireballs towards the orcs and it crashed in the center of their numbers. Fire spewed outward from the mighty explosion."

You don't have to go through all that if you don't want to. Only so many ways you can't describe swinging your sword.

Also the forum has an in-built die roller and I've seen it be pretty fair (knock on wood) so we're using that.

NPCs: If you want to roleplay out a small scene of interacting with the bartender then feel free to roleplay him. If you want to talk to the king then tell me because I have to roleplay him. If you're unsure then talk to me and I'll tell you if the NPC is important enough or not.

Style: Dialogue should be in bold with quote marks for ease of reading. "I'll rek you, I swear on me mum!"

Telepathic Conversation is in bold and italics. Very Telepathy. Much invasion of man's most important sanctuary. Wow.

I'll try to lay a scene before you enter anywhere but don't be afraid to make up some details. You want to describe what the tavern smells like? Go ahead. Want to describe what the high priest looks like? Leave that to me.

For example, in the first post I asked everyone to think about where they are on a typical day in the city. Someone might say the tavern gossiping with some travelers. Describe the travelers, describe the tavern, the barwench, write out some dialogue between you all, and/or even name the tavern. (The largest tavern in Stag Reach is the Bull's Eye if anyone wants to start there.)

In short, I'm gonna give you a lot of leeway because you're all experienced roleplayers. I'm trusting you to know where the line is and to ask me if you're unsure.

If you have any questions, post them here so everyone can see my answer.

Sarenrae - The Dawnflower

Shelyn - The Eternal Rose

Torag - Father of Creation (for dwarves only); The Forgemaster

Urgathoa - The Pallid Princess

Zon-Kuthon - The Midnight Prince; The Prince of Pain

Most people use these names or a small variation of them. For example, a person might say the Rose when talking about Shelyn.

Minor Gods worth knowing and respecting

Small style tip:

Paragraph breaks are your friend. Writing on a forum is not like writing a novel.

Even if it's one line, put a space in between every paragraph.

It's much easier to read.

Male Overdeity 9001

Sleep time now. Don't expected much after 10:00 on weekdays. I can post during the day though.

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

Before I make an action since I don't think combat time has started yet:

Can I smite (swift), draw sword(this is the sticky bit), attack (standard) and then do a movement before Thug McThug can react? if not, is k, but if I can that's going to be what I attempt.

Male Overdeity 9001

Sorry Nikandros. The rules say without the Quick Draw feat "you may draw a weapon as a move action, or (if your base attack bonus is +1 or higher) as a free action as part of movement." So you can run 60 ft. and draw your weapon should you wish.

Erastil's Paladin code does allow it. "When danger threatens, I am not a fool. I seek first to make sure the weak and innocent are safe, and then I quell the danger."

Male Overdeity 9001

**Test Post**

Test: 1d20 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (18) + 6 + (1, 3) = 28

It appears that the dice can do complex equations like 1d20+6+2d6. just remember to never leave any spaces.

Male Overdeity 9001

Val, in the interest of having you *not* be totally useless in the first fight of the campaign. I will allow you to have a dagger in your boot or maybe strapped to your thigh or something. Point is, always have a dagger on you. Always.

I'm more shocked that there's someone running around without anything less than 3 daggers on their person. Never leave home without your 10 foot pole, looting sacks, and daggers kids. Dungeoneering 101.

Human Sorceress

Hey, the site is back!

And yeah, don't leave home without your breath weapons! Oh wait, that's just me...

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

Yeah, that site crash last night. Made me sad.

Also, I'm not carrying a spare weapon.

I probably should be.

Male Overdeity 9001

At least you have one, Nikandros. While Stag Reach isn't the mean streets of Navan (most crime-infested city in the campaign), this is still Pathfinder where all non-intelligent wildlife wants to kill you, Dragons rule the skies, Fiends look to steal your soul, and adventurers are everywhere, causing and attracting trouble.

I do have concealed daggers, that's why I have five on my character sheet.

Human Sorceress

Down with this demonic dice roller! Grr

I personally welcome the reign of the sentient dice roller

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

the dice ain't that bad. they may have crit for me.

Also, we doing xp based levels or story? I presume story but if not I wanted to advocate for this system

Male Overdeity 9001

I was just gonna do story. That system is interesting though. Wish I had heard of it sooner. Stupid 4th ed. with it's no SRD or OGL.

Also, Tarik, your welcoming of the reign of the sentient die roller has clearly pleased it.

Too late to add the Die Roller as a god in the setting?

Male Overdeity 9001

Does targeted shot still go based on Touch AC?

Yep. Still a firearm attack from the first range increment.

Human Sorceress

Hey Val, having seen you on the other online chats - you around or have you already headed to DC? If you're in DC - GOOD LUCK! I'd text ya, but you never respond to texts. :P

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

All hail the sentient die roller.

Double crit is the best.

Human Sorceress

Sorry to do this to you Larkos, but it can be really difficult for me to visualize group fights without a map. Can you reiterate where everyone is standing (and how damaged they look) in the tavern fight?

Male Overdeity 9001

Okay.

Tarik is front of the bar.

Cerrick is on his ass facing the door.

Dephelia is flanking Tarik with Cerrick and her back to to the door. Were she to turn around she could run straight out the door (assuming no one is blocking her way.)

Crellick is facing Tarik but is not flanking anyone. His back is to the window

Val is flanking Dephelia with Tarik. Her back is also to the door.

Anya is behind the bar near a door that leads to the Tavern's storeroom.

There are civilians in the bar too. Zelia is on the ground between Crellick and the window. Other civilians have crowded into the corners near the window.

Willem, the owner, is cowering in the back room. Anya could see him if she leaned far enough but no one else can.

Human Sorceress

OMG. I haven't succeeded at all in this fight. WTF.

I suggest accepting the sentient dice roller as your lord and savior.

Human Sorceress

How does one do that Tarik? Is blood sacrifice required?

Well swear it your eternal servitude in this life and the next. Usually good for 3 enemy botches and 1 nat 20 on your end. After that it takes some sacrifice to maintain.

Also, Larkos, were you waiting for my AOO to resolve before finishing the baddie phase or is Cerrick skipping?

Male Overdeity 9001

In the future I will wait an AoO to resolve. If you kill something in an AoO then whatever they were doing is stopped and that obviously affects what will happen next.

I suggest sacrificing unlucky dice to the sentient die roller god. To show you have replace its inferior, physical progenitors.

Praise be to the sentient dice roller! May his light guide the faithful!

Male Overdeity 9001

Okay. I'm implementing a new system. It's called "Call your Post."

If you want to post something without being interrupted, put something in this chat to that effect.

Before you yourself post, check this discussion and give it a minute or two to make sure you don't just miss someone.

This rule applies to group play and not when when it's just you and the GM.

Male Overdeity 9001

Minor RP thing: everyone can recognize the holy symbol and title of the major gods except maybe Rovagug without a check. Kn (Religion) checks related to holy symbols are for more obscure divine beings.

General mention, I'm waiting on Anya to put a word in before responding myself.

Human Sorceress

Sorry Tarik, we got home late last night. Post is up now.

Human Sorceress

Huh, this sacrificing to the sentient dice God really seems to be working out for me. I should have tried it ages ago!

Male Overdeity 9001

*In the corner crying* My villains...My threatening villains...WHY!?!?!?!!?! *sobs*

Bah, heathens!

Male Overdeity 9001

I don't want to railroad here. Do you guys want to roleplay Val getting her gear and equipping it or can I skip ahead to after that?

Female Human Rogue, level 9

I'm okay with us skipping it. Val tries to conceal her gear somewhat, although not obsessively.

Human Sorceress

Go ahead and move us along. ONWARD TO PLOT!

Wot they said

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

I was a bit busy yesterday.

I replied though!

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

Turns out I forgot about how Paladin's Detect Evil works and I don't need to do the full spell thing. Move action to get the aura of one person so I'll check the woman first, then Anya, then Tarik, then Val. Then the guard officer. 5 move actions, should be able to be done in 3 rounds of time.

Good to know for the future but it won't affect anything in this discussion. In fact, you probably won't need to count out everything in a purely RP situation where everyone is just talking.

Human Sorceress

Well theoretically they could attack him which would interrupt this, so yeah keeping track of rounds are important. But since you implied that they won't Anya pulls down her pants, jumps at them ass first and farts in their faces.

Male Overdeity 9001

Fine. Unless combat interrupts your scanning then you don't have to keep track of rounds and order.

Male Half-Orc Paladin 10

Yeah. I was expecting maybe a twitchy guard officer to do something silly.
