About Nikandros

Born to an Orcish mother and a human father, his father was a hard man who purchased enslaved Orcs to work for him, as well as provide him an outlet for any of his desires. Nikandros was the result of one of those couplings, and once he had been born (looking mostly human) his mother attempted to flee from her enslavement. She could not return to the Orcs bearing a child that looked human unless she was willing to sentence him to death, so she fled south. In a rural village, while scavenging for supplies his mother was killed by the villagers. Nikandros looked human, so the villagers assumed that his mother had stolen him from another family. He was 6 years old. He spent his childhood and teenage years in the village, working on their farms, cutting wood and generally doing the same work as the rest of the village.

When he turned 15 he found a small shrine during one of his hunting trips dedicated to Erastil. Being a fairly polite, well-mannered young man he stopped to lay an offering. Upon returning to the town he sought out the local priestess of Erastil, spending the remainder of his time in the village learning about Erastil and the tenets of faith from her.

Two years ago, as he finished maturing his face began to reveal some distinctly Orcish traits, and the villagers began to spread rumors. One night, a group of them carrying torches came to the building he was sleeping in, and attempted to run him out of town. The priestess sheltered him and provided the basic supplies he would need to travel. He went forth into the world seeking a true community, one in which everyone was welcome and the tenets of Erastil were followed. His old village, while it had paid lip service to Erastil, did not actually follow the tenets of community that he preached. The priestess tried to change that, and could not do it in time to save his place there.

So, for the past two years he wandered, eventually ending up in Stag's Reach. Inside the city he found the shrine to Erastil and spent several months there, dedicating his sword and life to Erastil.
