Character Creation Rules

Spoiler:
* Character History: a paragraph minium to 3 pages maximum. This should be the focus of your character and describe how the character was wronged by Ghazi (Gaedren Lamm's Casamar counterpart).
* Experience: Everyone starts at 1st level.
* Ability Points: Roll 4d6, drop lowest, arrange to taste. If you prefer point buy (25 points) you must earn the privilege.
* Wealth: Maximum Gold for desired starting class.
* Health: Max at first level, random beyond.
* Alignment Restrictions: no NE or CE characters. Lawful Evil allowed if you can play them straight (as in -- "I thoroughly believe I am doing the right thing for all.")
* Racial Restrictions: Core Races and the Races from Psionics Unleashed are allowed (except Thri-Kreen, Githyanki, and Githerazai). Kalashtar (re: Psionic Humans) are also allowed. Orcs, Gnolls, the Elemental plane-touched from Bestiary 2, Tieflings, and Aasimar are considered on a case by case basis.
* Class Restrictions: Select classes from the PHB, APG, and Psionics Unleashed.
* Traits: 2. Those from a Wealthy family should consider a Patrician background (i.e. related to an Alalean Senator).
* Item Creation Feats: Item creation is allowed. Psion (Shapers) with item creation feats are rare. Psions (Kineticist) with item creation feats (Psionic Arms and Armor) are much more plentiful.
* Feats from Hyperconscious: Are allowed, except Craft Dreamgift and Infuse Dream.

Additional Rules

Spoiler:

I agree with GM Squawk. Although Man is an infinite being and capable of changing from instant to instant, the Atonement spell should not represent change. The Atonement spell is a cop out and Atonement should be represented by your actions in game. The Atonement Spell does not exist.

Characters should be created by no later than February 9th. All Players should also link a picture to whoever actress or actor can best play their PC.

Well, I'll just switch my Elan Nomad/Elocator to an Elan Shaper/Crystal Imprinter, then. Astral Constructs are always fun.

I was wondering how you were going to handle someone else taking elocater.

This sounds very interesting! Is there any class in particular you think the party would greatly benefit from? Or a class you are hoping someone plays?

Still going with Xeph Telepath. I can get more details up later. I already have background pretty well in mind, but I'll need to roll for ability scores and all that.

Mortifuus wrote:

*Definite PCs:

-- Elan Shaper/Crystal Imprinter.

-- Xeph Telepath.

-- Mark Thomas' Psychic Warrior gone elocater.

I think they will benefit from a healer and an espionage expert.

Ok so I am looking at the summoner for my character class, and was wondering if I could get the Synthesist archtype approved for play, it is from the Ultimate Magic splatbook that is on the prd, but if not that is ok too. The eidolon's focus would be tanking with me in it, however if that archtype is not approved I can always go fighter for tanking, or paladin.

*Edit: or Espionage type charachter, haven't played a rogue in a long while, so I will probably try that.

I had a player play a Synthesist once. That's the one where a Summoner and his pet are merged into one, yes? If so, then yes, I know what it can do.

But I feel they do need an espionage expert and/or a healer.

I think we need a good ole fashioned cleric for some healing and protection power.

You can't beat a cleric/priest for fun and (no)profit. I can't find Jeremy's healer class, even navigating DSP's SRD seems enigmatic at the moment. So a cleric would be welcome.

Seems like cleric it is, how do i roll dice on these boards?

*Edit: nvm found the formatting help at the bottom(facepalm)

Like this:

[?dice]1d20+3; 2d8+2[/dice]
[?dice]4d60 - 1d1d20 + 3 ⇒ 0 - (7) + 3 = -4
2d8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 7) + 2 = 14

Dreamscarred Press came out with three supplements to Psionics Unleashed, splitting the next book for psionics. Mind over Body, Find the Mark, and Unlimited Possibilities are all part of Psionics Expanded, which was printed after Psionics Unleashed.

Submitting Ioseph Dalen for your inspection. I'm still working on your changed background compared to the Curse of the Crimson Throne's Player's Guide, so I could use some help changing Shoati to whatever barbarian tribe you want to use, Ghazi's hook, etc. Ioseph will be the Astral Construct maker, the Psion Shaper of the party. If Psion Shapers with item creation feats are rare, then Ioseph will be that exception. But I also go for Jack-of-All-Trade type characters, albeit later in the game with psionic powers. Ioseph is not a front-line fighter, he will be in the rear of the party.

The only non-Core, non-DSP is the Call Item power, which came from The Mind's Eye in 3.5. DSP has yet to make a Pathfinder equivalent. I've used this 1st-level power in other games with no complaints from the GMs. Between Call Item and Ectoplasmic Creation, Ioseph is your go-to guy for on-the-fly equipment.

Characters so far:

 • Mark's Psychic Warrior
 • JPace's Elan Shaper
 • Mortifuus' Cleric
 • Donato's character with stats
 • Lynora's Xeph Telepath
 • Ioseph Dalen's Shoati Shaper /w Item Creation Feats and Call Item.

These are going to be fun when they are all statisticked and written up! Keep them coming, you have a week. :)

jhpace1 = Ioseph Dalen, the formerly-Shoati-now-Elan Shaper

I'm going to try a reroll here because the first set of rolls was pretty darn awful.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 2) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 6) = 19 = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 4) = 21 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 2) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 1) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 4) = 12 = 11

Hey! That's actually a pretty nice set of rolls....I almost never get one of those. :)

Don't give up!

I wouldn't call a single "dump stat" a cribdeath, especially with everything else at 10+. There's always belts, headbands, and cloaks to make up the difference later. You're going to be first level. Sure a bunch of 18s are nice, but the dicebot is fickle this week, it seems.

With the drop the lowest that means a 4, that's as smart as a smart dog, strong as a cat or fast as a koala.

Not viable adventurer if a stat is under 6

I'll go with the first set of rolls if that's ok

11, 9,15, 8,15,11 is not the worst thing in the world, and plent options for level 4 increase, lol

Don't forget the magic tomes from 2nd Edition. I think they can be used only once to confer their benefit.

Okie Dokie, upon further reading of the cleric class and associated domains and such, I would be going with a Human Cleric of Erastil, with the Good and Animal(Feather) domains, who wields his god's favored weapon, the long bow.

Now to work on backstory and statting him up :D

They are the descendants of the survivors of Azlant's destruction.

As a Maenad, you are expected by most of Avistan to control your emotions, lest you lose control and make trouble.

I'm registering interest as Maeneta the Axe-Caller, a half-giant psychic warrior. I'll post his background just now, and come up with the crunch over the weekend.

Background:
Maeneta the Axe-Caller is a half-giant warrior dedicated to the perfection of mind and body. Raised in an order of psychic warriors, Maeneta has long been able to call forth weapons from time and space and used them to great effect.

At the same time, Maeneta has a curse; his half-sister has fallen by the wayside into a life of debauchery and villainy. Determined to raise her from where she had fallen, Maeneta left the order so that he could track her down. It took almost a year and when he eventually found her, she was involved with an extremist sect of Calistran worship.

Maeneta was greatly angered by what he was as abuse of her body of the highest order and for the first time in his life, he lost control. He summoned an enormous greataxe and with it, he laid into those who were around her. Blood and gore flew across the room and when he recovered, everyone had either fled or died to his blade. His half-sister, truly fearing what he would do, screamed and fled the room. Slowed by his size and exhaustion, Maeneta attempted to follow her but she lost him in the crowds after several minutes.

Disgusted by his loss of self-control, Maeneta himself began a downward spiral. Without the support of his brethren, he began to fight for survival at first and then for sport. He began to revel in the cruelty and lived for the baying of the crowds as he brought his astral greataxe down onto a great number of foes.

It didn't take long for a criminal by the name of Ghazi to take notice of his skills and Maeneta found himself acting as an enforcer by day and prizefighter by night. Maeneta was lost in a reverie of blood, alcohol and women and lost much of his discipline.

One night, after a particularly bloody battle, Maeneta was celebrating his win with a night of drinking and loose women. He had grown increasingly rough, and took to taking what he wanted. As he and his battle-brothers stumbled from one tavern to another, they spotted a priestess walking quietly down the other side of the road. With a raucous roar, one of his battle-brothers loped across the street and hauled her hood back.

"Look what I caught," he roared in jest, hauling the woman over his shoulder. In one gut-wrenching moment Maeneta realised that the woman was his half-sister. His battle-brother deposited his half-sister in front of them.

"Who wants to go first?" one of the others said with a rowdy laugh. Where once his half-sister had looked at him in fear, now there was only disgust. Transfixed by the holy symbol of Desna on her breast, Maeneta didn't even register that he'd called his astral greataxe.

"Maeneta?" one of the group said, moments before the half-giant started swinging. Two fell to his blade before the rest had registered that the half-giant had begun to fight. Without weapons, most of the group was massacred. Two escaped, one grievously injured, by sacrificing the others.

"Ghazi will hear of this, half-giant, you're a dead man!" They fled as Maeneta roared in anger. He turned to look at his half-sister, who hadn't fled this time. Releasing his greataxe, he leant down to scoop her up from the street.

They spent weeks together, going over what had happened since that fateful night where Maeneta had first lost control. After fleeing into the night, his half-sister had fallen across the stairs of a Desnan temple. They women there had looked after her and nursed her back to health. In payment, she had dedicated her life to the goddess. She spent several weeks helping Maeneta bring himself back to a semblance of his previous self-control although it would take much longer in order to be able to master what he had known previously.

Almost two months after the fight in the street, Maeneta was returning home with groceries to find their rented room door ajar. Dropping the shopping, he summoned the greataxe once more and kicked the door open. On the living room floor lay his sister, her heart pierced by a single dagger. Pinned to her breast by the dagger was a single, blood-stained note.

Now we're even. - G

Instead of losing control, Maeneta's world solidified as though looking through crystal. He had purpose now; he would rid the city of Ghazi.

Okay, we have so far:

 • Miho - Maenad Psychic Weapon Master
 • Ioseph Dalen -- Elan Shaper
 • Cynnara Seed -- Xeph Telepath
 • Maeneta the Axe Caller -- Half Giant Psychic Warrior
 • Nightflier's Soulknife

My feats are there: Psicrystal Affinity and Boost (Astral) Construct. For the lower levels I'll have to concentrate on Craft: Sculpting to make stuff with Ectoplasmic Creation and Astral Construct. If we need item creation feats immediately no problem, I'm hoping to buy a stone of Psychic Reformation at Level 6 to re-choose feats & skills to get the Crystal Imprinter prestige class at Level 7 (always get prestige classes at odd levels if you can because most make you skip getting 2 new powers at the 1st level and with the Expanded Knowledge feat, you can still get a power at that level).

Crystal Imprinter has a strange prerequisite: Scribe Scroll. How's a psionic supposed to write a scroll for other psions to use? That puzzled me to no end. Until I realized that under Psionics-Magic Transparency, it's really "Scribe Power Stone".

Psychic Reformation is really a fantastic power for psions. It's literally like taking a wizard, throwing away their spellbook, and giving them an entirely new spellbook to use the next day. There's nothing quite like it for arcane or divine casters at all. So if you wanted a true Jack-of-All-Trades who could play a blaster one day, a weapons master the next, a healer on Wednesdays, then a shapechanger, with being a Telepath or Planar Transporter on the weekends, you could do it as a psion.

Well, you know that wizards and clerics are versatile in their classes. A wizard can throw away his spell book library and start again. A cleric gets all the spells after he prays (honestly, I have a problem with that). The Psion has a set number of powers, so to be as versatile, he needs Psychic Reformation.
