Not to get nitpicky or anything, but I would like to update my character sheet accordingly. So far here is what everyone has requested for their treasure.
Grym would like to lay claim to the Ring of Protection +1 and/or the Mithril shirt +2. A few potions too.
And another post: I do already have a +1 Chain Shirt, but the +2 Mithril is obviously better. If I get the Mithril shirt you can have the +1 Chain shirt.
Or I don't have any magic rings. The +1 ring of protection would be sweet.
Stuff on Ferox's wish list:
Potion of Cat's Grace 1+
Wand of Pass Without Trace
Belt of Physical Might +2 (Dex, Con)
Mithral Shirt +2Modified with the following posts: I'm flexible on the mithral shirt. It would probably benefit Grym more, as he's more in the thick of things.
I'll drop any claim I have on the mithral shirt. And it looks like there are two belts and two takers, so no issues there.
As far as the treasure goes.
I would like to have:
Pot of Cats Grace... 1+
Pot of CMW 1+ (divided equally should be good)
Pot of Resist Fire: 1If nobody else wants:
Headband of alluring Cha
Vindicator Heavy Repeating Crossbow +1 Human bane
20 Screaming bolts
Gaius wants:
Wand of Hold Person
Wand of CMW
All the Large Scorpion Venom
Belt of Physical Might
Headband of Alluring Charisma
Mithril Shirt +2Um... Any and all of the potions. Maybe those go in a separate pool.
I'm going to suggest that any contested treasure is drafted. Maybe roll for draft order?
I just read Morkelb's General Use spoiler for potions and the such. It is ok with me, is it ok with everyone else, and the DM. If so please put the Decanter back on that list.
I only have 1 item besides potions that is contested with anyone, that is the headband with Gaius. I relinquish my claim, Gaius it is yours.
If it comes down to a vote or a discussion, it makes much more sense that Grym would get an AC increase before Gaius. (Besides Gaius has a beautiful Sandor crafted chain mail. lol)
Which means that I can mark down the Vindicator Heavy Repeating crossbow +1Human Bane and 20 Screaming bolts.
I already carried a +1 Crossbow, so that can be added to the treasure list if anyone wants it, or sell it if necessary.
Morkelb, I might have need of your crafting services. Please let me know if you have time for any custom orders.

Ghost Touch Deathless Armor of Undead Bane Kegerator?
Ghost Touch for armor is a +3 enhancement and Undead Bane is a +1 Enhancement.
Ghost Touch. Effective against attacks from incorporeal creatures. Small percentage of foes (hopefully), but very useful that one time you need it.
Pros: My Deathless Armor is likely a pinnacle armor for a long while.
It is likely to save Odric's life if needed.
Cons: Translucent, and Odric is known for going regimental. With an emphasis on mental.
Gives up extra damage, which is Odric's forte.
Undead Bane gives your weapon an extra +2 Enhancement Bonus than it currently has, and you do an extra 2d6 damage vs. that enemy.
Pros:
The application to the entire bestiary of Undead makes it more likely to be used.
Odric is a fighter, so buffing damage ought to be my focus rather than survival. That role should fall to Jozan. Or Gaius in a pinch.
Cons: A magically enhanced and beautiful Falchion isn't the pinnacle of weaponry (sorry Sandor) that Odric can reasonably expect to get in the game. Buffing it may not be wise if I find a +10 Vorpal Flame Tongue in the next dungeon.
I'm thinking the Undead Bane on the Kegerator, but I'm open to suggestions from the group. The other interesting options is to Undead Bane the Earth Breaker Hammer Odric has been lugging around...

Sandor Stouthammer |

well this is funny. I was looking at what enhancement I wanted to my weapons when I asked Morkelb if he would have any crafting time avail.
I for one am going to choose Ghost Touch armor. I think my axe and / or shield would totally enjoy the undead bane enchantment.
For obvious reasons I'm going to ask. Does Undead Bane affect Demons and Devils?

Dungeon Master S |

Sadly no, Bucho didn't experience the Vision.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

Morkeleb is choosing Infused Soul.
Downtime: 8 days spent enchanting staff. One end will become +1, Guardian (and the default will always be "bonus to saves")
cost 4000 gp
Sandor, that leaves 6 days, which I'll use to start enchanting your stuff. :-)

Odric the Stout |

Mike, we all get infused soul, and also have to choose either a weapon or armor chunk. You going for Ghost Touch Robes? If so, Odric may buy you some boxer shorts like these.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

I'm tempted to take that seriously, S. However, I need to think like a wizard. An incorporeal foe is likely to view a wizard as the biggest threat. My AC is crap, but it wouldn't take THAT much to make it reasonable (just some decent Bracers, and a mithral buckler)
That is what I'll do: pick up a mithral buckler and get that ghost touched.

Sandor Stouthammer |

lets keep it simple
It will cost you 335 gp for the buckler (Buckler 5gp, Mithril 1000gp/3) in materials.
I can make the buckler in 18 days. Taking 10 on my craft checks, with accellerated crafting. I can't fail the DC by 5 even if I roll a 1 so no threat of loosing materials.
I will let you describe the creation.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Morkeleb now knows teleport and has been to Kaer Maga. You're covered for selling/buying locations
That is such an insanely D&D thing to say in such an offhand manner. Like, "hey you guys want to go grab something to eat? I'm driving."
"No its cool, I just learned to completely defy the laws of physics, so no need to drive. Let's get some pizza."
"OK cool. Saves gas money."
Wow.

Thorgrym the Tracker |

Someone did snag the +1 Ring of Protection right? Just wanted to make sure that didn't get lost or sold in the mix.
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but did someone claim/take this? Grym got the Mithril shirt so can't lay claim to it. SOMEONE should take it.

Thorgrym the Tracker |

Grym will choose the undead bane for his lucky dagger, (undead sharks beware!)
Question about the undead bane feature.
It gives an extra 2d6 damage vs undead. Does it also give an extra +2 to hit undead?

Yes.
A bane weapon excels against certain foes. Against a designated foe, the weapon's enhancement bonus is +2 better than its actual bonus. It also deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against such foes.

Odric the Stout |

Oh yeah - Just remembered you can retrain HPs to max potential.
Odric's Max potential HPs is 126 (1d10+3 x 9 = 117 + 9 for favored class = 126)
Cost is 10 x 9 x 3 = 270 per HP.
From 15 to 28 Rova, Odric has time to retrain 4 HPs
4 x 270 = 1080.
Odric looks for a skilled fighter, (maybe Krojun?) to train with for 12 intense days. That gives him 2 days off to either rest or pop over to Korvosa for a visit.
New HPs = 117. Wealth change: 1845.38 - 1080 = 765.38 GP

Purchases Belt of Giant Str +4 and Bracers of Armor +2
hey man--may I ask why you're spending $$ on bracers of armor? Because that won't stack with regular armor (but if you're looking for armor vs. touch attacks/incorporeal attacks, then that works)

Thorgrym the Tracker |

I didnt know that. Well that saves me some money. I just wanted to improve my AC a little. Rings of Protection and Amulets of Natural Armor still work with armor right?
Maybe Ill invest in a better Cloak of Resistence instead. Thanks for the correction. Check minus for me this week.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

You need to look at the type of bonus. Same types don't stack. Armor provides an "armor" bonus, shields a "shield" bonus. Ring of protection is "deflection" so that stacks w/"armor" and "shield." Amu is natural armor, so yeah that too.
but like I said before, unlike actual armor, bracers of armor ("armor" bonus) work against touch attacks and incorporeal attacks (like Ghost Touch armor!) because it's force armor. So while it won't improve your straight-up AC, it will improve your Touch AC and AC vs. incorporeal (unless, of course, your regular armor is Ghost Touch...)
Cloak of Resistance is a great bet. Every character I ever have gets one as soon as they can. Also, remember...there is such a thing as a vest of resistance, so if you've already got a spiffy cloak, you can get that instead!
If you've got 2,500 gp to spend, there's an ioun stone that boosts AC (and it's an "insight" bonus so it stacks with everything else you already have)
and if you still wanna buy bracers of armor, you can give 'em to me instead.

Thorgrym the Tracker |

Luckily Morkeleb was there to advise Grym against buying the magical Bracers of Protection from the fasttalking merchant.
Trying to go for a useful practical expenditure, the ranger purchases a magical backpack. Thorgrym didn't quite understand the wizard's comment how the haversacks were originally designed by a fellow named Heward or something.

Working on a way to make the trek awesome. Wandering monsters and massive amounts of daily rolls don't seem to work. (It'd take us until 2016 to do this.)
I have a couple of ideas.... thoughts?
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Here's a thought. I roll one guaranteed interaction for each character. You guys write up the scene for what you get. If it's an XP encounter you would still earn the XP. No rolling it's just prose.... and awesome. That way we each read a handful of cool story posts.
Thoughts?

Dungeon Master S |

If the encounter rolled is one that includes something with treasure, that'll get rolled too (and not chosen.)

Dungeon Master S |

I don't know what do you guys think? I hate to gloss over the overland travel, but random encounters (combat and/or role-playing) would take us forever...

Morkeleb the Mighty |

I think your solution is reasonable, considering he limitations and overall clunkiness of the PBP venue. Works better than tabletop for prose and backstory; not so much for combat. Let the tools we have be used to best effect!

Sandor Stouthammer |

Considering that random encounters for overland travel are one of the things that moved me away from D&D towards things like Star Wars and more modern games with faster travel, I think this is a most excellent idea.
Finding a game changing treasure item from a random encounter is shall I say ummm redonkulous. If such an item was needed, it should have been made part of a story award anyway.
So good job DMS I like your idea. Now if I can get some worthy prose up for my encounter. With the imaginative talent in this group I feel myself lacking.

Sign up in case anyone wants to PbP
I'm not clear what this is. Is this for playing other pbp games?

Yeah its for a couple of society style games. So it's Sumac's campaign. Unfortunately Sumac doesn't qualify.

This thread HERE is a game that's PFS and requires level 3-5 characters. I'm playing a level 5 Magus in this one. Not sure if he's recruiting on his own, but there are slots. This would be Sumac, Fell, etc.

Grym. You've rolled an encounter with Tyrkalis, the Scourge of Raschka-Tor. This is a Mature Adult Red Dragon. The event is not intended for combat, but the legacy of Karzoug runs deep in adventurers. . . If you fight, more than one of you will most assuredly die, perhaps all.

Yes sorry. I just got back from a multiday dirtbike trip. I've thought about it, but haven't actually written anything.
I'll get something down in a day or two.
