Oof - I am going to reserve the right to re-roll that one, depending on how the scenario goes...
Perception and Initiative are always in my tagline for your easy reference.
Perception: +11
Initiative: +6
Looking forward to this!!

Am I the only one that is nervous?

![]() |

So I have spent an unhealthy amount of time looking to upgrade a niche here and there.
So I have just over 12K and I was going to upgrade my headband of intellect from +2 to +4, and that would leave me with just some spare change left.
Or I could round out some needed areas like scrolls, oil of daylight, a level 2 pearl, upgrade my cloak of resistance and such.
Any thoughts?

Dang, not great. As with Cyrus' comment above, if I am able to get through this scenario without using my reroll, I'd like to try and improve that (if possible).
Perception: +9
Initiative: +6
@ GM Bold Strider: Thanks for running the game. I'm really excited. Hopefully our group doesn't let you down!
@ Finarin: As an FYI, Ibid did upgrade his wayfinder to a Dayfinder forever ago, but hasn't used the daylight spell yet because there hasn't been the need. Just an FYI that Ibid can cast daylight, in case that changes your mind about you needing to purchase oil of daylight. Who knows what will happen in this game, some caster with black tentacles might put baby in the corner again and then the only way Ibid can help while you all do the work will be to cast daylight :)

![]() |

Ok - for purchases. Cyrus will upgrade his +2 mithril chain shirt to +3, and upgrade his cloak of resistance +1 to +2, and buy some of the hype.
Buyin the hype
drinkin the koolaid
I'll stop.
Profile will be updated before most of you get a chance to read this.
Unless everyone is online all at once. Wouldn't complain about that.

![]() |

@Finarin - The way I look at it... do you think you will be able to save up money again to upgrade your headband? Or will you get that much gold in one lump sum in a chronicle, and it won't feel like as big of an upgrade?
Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I would jump on the headband increase.
The tough part about purchasing the consumables is at some point you feel like you have all the bases covered... until you get into a situation you weren't expecting :)

![]() |

Just FYI, I've decided not to retrain just yet. When looking over the retraining rules, found a reference to this in the fighter class description (who reads that anymore, right?):
Upon reaching 4th level, and every four levels thereafter (8th, 12th, and so on), a fighter can choose to learn a new bonus feat in place of a bonus feat he has already learned.
Next fighter level for me is 4th. I'll save my prestige points and just replace Cleave (on of my bonus feats) with Cornugon Smash then.

Amaranti

Initiative +2
Kaisharga
Perception: +9
Initiative: +4
All the vitals are in the tagline. Amaranti's AC and saves are higher when in Kaisharga's reach, as per Shield ally (the figures in square brackets). Kaisharga has combat reflexes and bodyguard to boost the party's AC, plus both have Paired Opportunisist and 10' reach in case AoO's would happen.
I hope everything is in place on the profile, please ask if there's anything odd.
Thanks for running this, it's great to be playing with full Drongos!

I'll be updating my statblock and tagline today. I have to figure out what he's buying, if anything.
Agreed, Thanks for taking us on GM Bold Strider. Be prepared for some craziness!

![]() |

So just to clarify - Here is my magical gear: Aegis of Recovery; Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2, Cloak of Resistance +1; Feather Step Slippers; Wand of Cure Light Wounds 46/50 2PP; Scroll Cat's Grace x5 2PP, Pearl of Power Level 1, scroll of lesser restoration x3 (2PP); Headband of Vast Intelligence (Diplomacy) +2; Gloves of Elvenkind
Based upon the VC briefing, what shouldn't I bring/should I hide really well.
What about holy water?
I am going to try and carve out some time to see how we can circumvent this. I also have a purchase or two. What is the time frame GM?

![]() |

Possible ideas to hide from the Legion.
1 PP gets us a scroll of Magic Aura which thwarts Detect Magic. Although in this subtier they might might use something heftier.
Too bad Amaranti can't cast level 5 spells Would be cool

![]() |

1,125 gp for the scroll of secret chest isn't too bad... but 5,000 gp for the chest is a bit much. Could be very handy, though. I'm willing to chip in 900 gp (my entire fortune). We are all adventuring together, so this kind of thing would be highly handy for future adventures also.
I think multiple castings of magic aura would be very handy. It's not on any of our spell lists, though, and I don't know if anyone has UMD.

![]() |

Cyrus has UMD at +13 - its how I use my wand of shield.
Magic aura would come in handy, I may just get that scroll for myself regardless.
And I also would not mind chipping in for the chest, as long as the gold can come off the new chronicle sheet. Technically Cyrus doesn't have enough right now (spent it all on hype, and magical upgrades) I agree with Lort. We are all adventuring together anyways, so for all intents and purposes, it would be a group purchase. (just wouldn't look that way on a chronicle)

![]() |

Would our contraband fit in one Pathfinder pouch?

![]() |

So, if it's okay, Lort will sell 1 dose of smelling salts (for 12.5 gp) and his bladeguard (25gp) to take him up to just over 1,000gp... then he'll buy that Pathfinder Pouch. That thing is gold. Please let me know if it's okay, BS, and I'll post about it on the main thread. I'm assuming we had enough brief beforehand to know we'd maybe be hiding religious items (they did hire two priests on for this mission) or that the ship's stores are relatively well stocked. ;-)

![]() |

I don't want to over think this... the pathfinder pouch seems perfect for a bunch of stuff.
Cyrus doesn't have anything divine on him, but lots of magic items. I am getting a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that we are going to end up gear-less again...
actually, I just had a thought. I can use 2PP to buy a wand of magic aura (or mask dweomer).
That is what I will do. Then I can cast in on lots of items and such. Hopefully I don't roll any 1s on my UMD checks to use the wand.
GM BS - is it ok to retro that purchase, assuming we knew where we were going before we got in the ship?

![]() |

I think I'm still trying to process/understand how we should be approaching this, do we need to hide all magical items we are carrying? If so, the pathfinder pouch seems really neat, but wouldn't weapons (and possibly) armor not fit inside?

![]() |

So this Pathfinder Pouch. I see that it is found in the Pathfinder Chronicles Seekers of Secrets.
Is it in anything else? At work and don't have my stick with my sourcebooks on it.

GM Bold Strider |

That is the only source according to Archives of Nethys.
---
@Everyone: All gear that you wish to purchase after the briefing is acceptable.
---
@Ibid: All magical weapons and items are not banned, only divine. However, the average soldier cannot distinguish the difference, so there may be trouble with displays of magic. You wouldn't be in trouble for this, but you may be detained until they are sure that you aren't divine casters. Things like a flaming sword are generally ok, whereas a wand of Cure Light Wounds is not.
Additionally, you are smuggling yourselves into the country, so there is no customs to check your goods. As smugglers, if caught, you can guess what might happen from there.

![]() |

Even before I read this thread I had prepped a pathfinders pouch. Great minds think alike! They only hold 10 pounds, but should be good enough for most of our contraband.
As an FYI - Gunari now has as +2 Keen Adamantine Rapier, three pearls of power I, as well as the pathfinder pouch.
GM Bold Strider, he has (for now) Weapon of the Chosen, Imp. Weapon of the Chosen, and Greater Weapon of the Chosen. The Greater one allows him to roll twice for his attack roll, if he only attacks once in a round (also why he has Vital Strike). He typically always power attacks, which I have not added into his stat block currently, but I will note on my combat dice rolls.
I may end up (after the first day) changing out some of my spells to take advantage of the versatility that the pearls now gives him.
Thanks!

![]() |

Ok - well in that case the only thing Cyrus has that appears divine is his wand of cure light wounds, and a couple vials of holy water. I will plan on leaving the holy water behind, and I will pick up a couple of scrolls of magic aura so I can disguise my wand.
I have sharrowsmith's handy haversack to put all my gear in, so as far as I can tell, I should be ok.
Thanks for the clarification!

@ GM Bold Strider: This is great. Thanks for the clarification, this helps a lot. Ibid will pick up a pathfinder pouch, as well. He has wand of cure light wounds, and x4 holy water he'd like to stuff inside. Thanks again for clearing things up for me!

Cleric full stop. Penalty of death. Any one else want to add something before I respond?
Just oddly enough, I did some reading on this country for Isle of Dread. Azir (the capital, 'Port Godless') is actually used as an impartial meeting place for clerics so that they can hash out any issues without a host country bias.
That would be impossible if clerics were outright banned from the country.
Then again, the Laws of Man forbid worship. Depends on how you interpret that, but clerics who haven't renounced the clergy could be seen to disobey it.
This kind of lack of consistency with Golarion as a whole is one of the things that also really turns me off PFS at times.
Anyway, this was just a side note. Nothing against the GM or this adventure, really. Not even saying that this secnario is the source that has it wrong. It's just an issue with continuity and my brain. Lort's brain knows of no such difference.

![]() |

Wtf. Busy day for me but did I just read that right? We are getting arrested already. Oy vei!

Karu the Kobold Strider |

Easiest way to reconcile is that any clerics on official business in certain areas approved by the Ruler are allowed but under strict scrutiny, but devout worshippers in the country illegally (you guys) are under First Law jurisdiction.

Funny thing is that the scenario Port Godless talks about how they handle thins here. A lot less "you will hang" and more you will not practice.

![]() |

Well, this is ridiculous. This has to be a setup, or it is all over. No point in struggling, I guess. I am going to be really pissed if this scenario assumes that we are to fight.
I think that if they try and disarm him, Gunari's going to lose his cool...
GM -- I honestly don't know how we're to get out of this...
FYI - I only have 1 magical rapier... but I list the different ones for my sacred weapon enhancement.

![]() |

Ok, so I am all for taking these men down - any conscientious objectors? i will post this afternoon. Please weigh in before I kill some people

![]() |

I agree with Gunari and you, Finarin (and Cyrus). B**@&%+& briefing led us to this point and I f&*@ing believe that our cleric just had a holy symbol on him. Seriously, with crap like this in the earlier scenarios is it any wonder the PFS has a reputation for killing mooks like these?
Lort's probably going to try to break free of the manacles and if that fails, bludgeon these turds with them as an improvised weapon.

![]() |

By the way, sorry about all the to and fro. There's a lot of weird stuff in play here and I'm yet to wrap my mind around all of it (especially the situation with manacles, shackles and the extent of it all).
EDIT: So, after a chat with Bold Strider and consulting the CRB, Strength Surge is much less useful than I imagined (and have been using thus far). Poo.

![]() |

Can I just quickly ask to what extent we've been disarmed at this point? Lort usually has a second (+1 cold iron) greatsword strapped to his back, as well as a silver mace. Can I correctly assume that they haven't had the time to completely strip us of anything but our wielded weapons yet?
Also, is my greatsword held by someone, put into a bag at this point or left unattended on the floor? I'm wanting to re-arm myself at some point and just want to be clear on the options.

Ah, you guys have no idea how much I wanted to do what Finarin did and apply some repellent to myself. Never used it since I bought it!
I may have brought this upon us. I was telling the GM what our weaknesses were (teleporting demons, flying things and swarms). I did also tell him that we had high level enough casters (and a flying Lort!) that probably counteract those weaknesses these days.
Still, he throws a swarm at us.
It's like he's been given a script that he's not allowed to deviate from.
