DM what follows is a brief summery of actions taken by Cуровую in the past few days leading to the meeting with her cousin. I have mentioned these on the main thread but may have been overlooked.

-

Grumblejack, the first night.

Cуровую would have sent a servant with a glass of the healing wine to Grumblejack and extra portions of meat for the ogre. She will give firm instructions that the ogre must be well fed and will tell the servant that the ogre is to be told who the wine and food is from. She will also instruct the servant to say the words 'rest friend' in Giant to Grumblejack, again stating that these were my words.

Also as I have posted I will leave a healing glass of wine by my bed stand and would have requested a wineskin at some point to keep the drink. It may not keep its healing properties but at least I will have some good wine for the road.

-

Cуровую, daily

Cуровую will cast Detect Magic daily before she leaves her rooms, she will make not of arcane strengths on people and places, who has stronger items, and who seems to be carrying what.

Douglas Muir 406 wrote:

"Since it is a first offence, a lower level of punishment is appropriate. To encourage self-correction, I will give you something to remember. I sentence you to a Level Zero Correction, with marking." Tiadora raises one hand. You notice that her nails, though not overly long, are lacquered red and very sharp.

She plunges a single nail into the side of Bref's face and very slowly begins ripping a deep gouge into the flesh.

Bref is at exactly 0 hit points. Clearly she has done this before. He has also taken 4 points of Cha damage, reducing his Cha to an astonishing 1.

DM as this is happening can Cуровую make a Knowledge Arcane or Spellcraft check?

Spellcraft 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

If Knowledge Arcana it would be a +8 for 24

Cardinal, negotiations

I lost what I posted but leading to making terms with the Cardinal

Douglas Muir 406 wrote:
"This notion of 'sin'... my dear, you will learn not to think in these terms. "Sin" is a lie sold by the forces of weakness. In truth, Pride is the First Strength, the master virtue which holds all the others in check." He leans forward, dark eyes intense. "All the virtues have their place. Wrath, lust, envy... each is a spur that can drive towards greatness. But it is Pride, great Pride, that dominates and controls all the others, compelling the aspirant ever onward to mastery."

'I misspoke my lord Cardinal, pride being the first strength, your Master has a purpose in the grand design for as poets, philosophers and children know, there can be no light without the dark, no world order without primordial chaos, no sacred without the profane, and no vile good (CG) without fair evil (LE).'

'But I am named and will be one day claimed by the Eternal Hag, and she simply IS, she has no antithesis, no counter weight, no balance. She is maiden, mother, crone. She is Legion. When it is my time to be called, my will, is hers to claim.'

'My lord Cardinal I can not give what is not mine to give, allegiance yes, but my soul was never mine. I will amend your document and give you nine years less a day, I shall serve you and your ambitions, your will and goals shall be held paramount, and all will know that to oppose you is to bring ruin and despair.'

'Nine years less a day, Paradise was lost in less time than that, surely one Kingdom will be made to ash in that time.'

DM if the Cardinal can read my thoughts I have more on the table for negotiations, I sent a PM.

Spellcraft d20 +11

If Knowledge Arcana it would be a +8 for 24

It's not a spell or SLA. Could be a supernatural ability or a feat. Nothing about it rings a bell.

For a measly 720 I can make my hat allow me to cast a level 2 (ie touch two baddies) chill touch once per day.

That is if DMDM will allow me to have it done.

sure

Spell level x CL x 1800 (for a command word item) then divide that by 5 (for 1 time per day)

so 1x2x1800=3600/5=720

Bref thinks it will make him more like Shadow beastie. Shadow's are cold and the touch is cold. Also he loves his hat! so that is the coolness factor.

But Meta wise I think it is a very low cost significantly good ability. the touch does 1d6 and would require a save or they also lose some strength. Since Bref does not use weapons in his hands to fight it is pretty easy to use for him

I am pretty sure that command items do not need UMD. It is similar to the Cloak of the Mountebank. But as proven with the natural attacks I have been wrong before!

Okay, great. Does anyone want to confirm that? If not, I'll check tonight.

(I'm offline for the next half day or so -- back late tonight or tomorrow.)

Unnamed

I took a look. It looks as if once you know the word then you can activate it. Wands appear to be the exception

Command word big text block:

Command Word: If the activation is on command or if no activation method is suggested either in the magic item description or by the nature of the item, assume that a command word is needed to activate it. Command word activation means that a character speaks the word and the item activates. No other special knowledge is needed.

A command word can be a real word, but when this is the case, the holder of the item runs the risk of activating the item accidentally by speaking the word in normal conversation. More often, the command word is some nonsensical word, or a word or phrase from an ancient language. Activating a command word magic item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Sometimes the command word to activate an item is written right on the item. Occasionally, it might be hidden within a pattern or design engraved, carved, or built into the item, or the item might bear a clue to the command word.

The Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (history) skills might be useful in helping to identify command words or deciphering clues regarding them. A successful check against DC 30 is needed to come up with the word itself. If that check is failed, succeeding on a second check (DC 25) might provide some insight into a clue. The spells detect magic, identify, and analyze dweomer all reveal command words if the properties of the item are successfully identified.

Use Activated: This type of item simply has to be used in order to activate it. a character has to drink a potion, swing a sword, interpose a shield to deflect a blow in combat, look through a lens, sprinkle dust, wear a ring, or don a hat. Use activation is generally straightforward and self-explanatory.

Many use-activated items are objects that a character wears. Continually functioning items are practically always items that one wears. A few must simply be in the character's possession (meaning on his person). However, some items made for wearing must still be activated. Although this activation sometimes requires a command word (see above), usually it means mentally willing the activation to happen. The description of an item states whether a command word is needed in such a case.

Unless stated otherwise, activating a use-activated magic item is either a standard action or not an action at all and does not provoke attacks of opportunity, unless the use involves performing an action that provokes an attack of opportunity in itself. If the use of the item takes time before a magical effect occurs, then use activation is a standard action. If the item's activation is subsumed in its use and takes no extra time use, activation is not an action at all.

Use activation doesn't mean that if you use an item, you automatically know what it can do. You must know (or at least guess) what the item can do and then use the item in order to activate it, unless the benefit of the item comes automatically, such as from drinking a potion or swinging a sword.

Doesn't say much really n all that text other than what it is. However UMD does not have a DC for activating a command word item.

Since guys are visual I'll post these.

I had always pictured Cуровую to look a little like Rooney Mara who I have always loved even before she became a celebrity and I think has the look I am am going for in this character.

Tiadora is an icy blonde with pale blue eyes. The closest I can come offhand is Amanda Swofford. (Note that Tiadora's default facial expressions seem to be "you disgust me" and "I really want to kill you now". She sometimes has a sardonic little smile but it never lasts long. The only time you've seen her actually smile smile was right before she started ripping into Bref's face.)

For the Cardinal, you need a good looking middle aged guy (fortyish? it's hard to say) who is totally bald but sporting a classic Goatee of Evil.

Same here, I thought she was a near as perfect a match as I could want, but then I discovered Berenice Marlohe in a fashion magazine about three weeks ago and my jaw dropped.

The picture I have is more 'Ice witch' but have not seen it online, she could easily be the Pathfinder iconic.

Maybe this other man in red.

My go to guy for 'charming, sexy, elegant older gentleman' but would 'use the Death Star in a second if you ticked him off' has always been Christopher Plummer who is a touch younger here, this video has the side benefit of having a possible Tiadora candidate in it, as well as having the affections of either a Taldan or Cheliax family having 'some quality time' while the slaves prepare dinner.

Let's see if DM will allow both of us to do it, otherwise Judge we could also roll for it.

The Judge does have a better Bluff guys, and a better Sense Motive. I have Knowledge skills for days to supplement my act. It would be great if I could pose as an ancient matron and lady of the manor and the Judge as my Chamberlain.

My idea here is this - pose as an ancient old spinster of wealth and blue blooded pedigree, loyal to the crown and held in high favor by the church, yet she is quite lonely and is looking for a husband. She is well past cougar age, she just wants to enjoy the last years given to her.

I intend to have these brave knights, who would not think twice of taking on balors and dragons, quacking in their boots and finding excuses that they are needed elsewhere.

Unless there are other ideas.

Maybe the judge opens the door as a servant and you are there as backup as "lady of the house" type role. This will make it more believable. They will want to talk to more than just a servant anyways. He can go fetch you...

Servants only in the house, preparing it for the master's arrival. This will limit questions. We have all been mostly in the house working, but have not seen anyone in the home.
