>>>>>NEW PAGE, NOT A BATTLEMAP<<<<<

Syd and Bohdan, do you wish to participate in booting this poor pathetic creature around?

You hear the Bhuka jabbering out in the hallway and then a shriek from Ryor.

DMNPC Bohdan:
Bohdan shouts in his deep bass as he lifts his sword: "WELL ENOUGH! BACK TO THE MAELSTROM WITH YOU FIEND!"

Pre-roll crit: (20) Confirm, damage, damage: (1d20+6=24, 1d8+4=10, 1d8+4=7)

The stroke arcs close enough to shave Jon - he jumps back - then Bohdan's blade sinks deep into the thing's skull. A look of surprise crosses its face and it begins to mouth something but expires before it can complete its words.

Bohdan puts his foot on its neck and pries the sword out producing a moist wrenching sound. He then kicks the lifeless body into the secret chamber.

Again the sound of gears, lenses rotating quickly into position, and then blades of blinding light cut the body into smoking red-skinned pieces... while everyone stands by stunned at Bohdan's outburst the smell of cooked meat wafts out of the chamber.

Bohdan mutters: "No witty comeback for that, is there demon?"

Heedless of Ryor's sobbing in the hall, everyone crowds into the narrow secret passage to see what's left.

The red color of its skin fades slowly to match the limbs that were removed earlier. The pieces of demon seem to be changing into pieces of halfling - aged and tattooed halfling. After a few minutes the body, or what's left of it, has completely transformed into pieces of an elderly halfling man.

The Eye of Aroden, mounted in the cap of the shattered cylinder, sits still on the floor in the pool of brown soup that spilled out earlier.

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

Pulsifer, do you have the spell that lets ya move several pounds of weight with your mind? I have heard that some do, but I haven't learned it yet. Perhaps you could lift the crystal and bring it to us without us risking the rays if you did.

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

"Bloody 'ell. I fort dere was sumfin up wiv 'im. Well, y'know what they say. 'e musta bin compensatin' fer sumfin'"

Syd makes the 'waggling little finger' gesture.

"Actually, yes, I do know that one. Good point."

Rackham raises his right hand, and the crystal becomes enveloped in red light. Rising slowly into the air, the crystal moves slowly closer to the doorway. He attempts to maneuver it past the beams of light.

Casts mage hand.

"Now that... That is decidedly strange."

The lenses do not respond as Pulsifer lifts the huge emerald up and out of the room, bringing it down on the floor at Aref's feet. The cap of the cylinder is fashioned from mithril, and you have here enough to forge into a mighty weapon.

DMNPC Bohdan:

Bohdan mentioned this earlier, so I think I'm going along with what GG started here.

"This gem should be taken to the temple of Iomedae, it is a priceless artifact and I think we dare not allow ourselves to see this as loot. The mithril by itself will make us rich."

"I concur."

He pauses.

"What perplexes me is why the fiend transformed as it died..."

The pathetic sobbing in the hallway stops.

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

Aref picks up the gem and places it in a secure pouch.
"Good job, wizard! Together we shall examine this when we have more time. Perhaps we can figure out it's functions and whatnot."

Who is crying? I do not understand?

It sounded like Ryor.

Ryor failed a will save on the last page, after a stabbing and witting remark. That would be a literal stabbing.

Aref Sami Shahrokh wrote:

When you touch the green orb your pulse quickens; you feel wonderfully invigorated and a feeling of utter clarity sweeps through you.

The stone is not easily separated from the mithril cap and is quite large. You'll need a backpack.

Like a hit on the old crack pipe.

You hear the Bhuka screaming out in the hallway.

The scream causes the Deceiver to take his eyes off the demon for a second, "Our allies need our help. Stay here." The Deceiver runs in the direction of the scream. The electical field given off by the dagger lighting his way.

Cordoba steps out in the hall just in time to see the three Bhuka fleeing back into the main chamber. Ryor, who is facing away, is laughing at them as they flee.

"What's happening here?!"

"Just having a little fun, smiley."

Ryor turns toward you and looks into you. A baleful fire burns in his eyes.

Cordoba:

Spoiler:
Memories, mostly your darker secrets, start racing through your head, it's hard to control them. Make a will roll please. Please spoiler your roll.

"I'm not amused, Ryor. Why are the bhuka running away?" The Deceiver hides the electrically charged dagger behind his back.

No problem, he stows it in his backpack.

The Deceiver wrote:

"They're afraid of me. You know who I am, and now you know what you've released."

Cordoba:

Spoiler:
The feeling of not being alone in your own mind is eerie, like some of the ritual drugs used in your cult yet stranger. But because of your training you get control of your thoughts and force the being out.

Ryor walks up close to you and sneers, looking closely into your eyes.

He growls, "what are you hiding, you lying f*+@er?"

"Being cryptic is not your style, Ryor. The same goes for your special effects." The Deceiver points at Ryor's eyes.

It's very obvious that something weird is happening to Ryor.

"And Ryor... try getting inside my head again and I will have your liver with a nice bottle of Chianti." The Deceiver moves to the side to make any attack from Ryor less effective.

For Kruelaid

Spoiler:
PvP action?! Watching a movie called Return to the House on Haunted Hill. Feels like the game is being infiltrated by ghosts.

The Deceiver wrote:

He turns his head to the side and squints his eyes at you, smiling, but not one of warmth and friendship.

"OOooooooo. We_are_going to be GOOD_friends, you and I."

Possible useful rolls: Sense Motive, Knowlege (Religion), Knowledge (the Planes).

"Friends? Sorry don't have any."

The Deceiver wrote:
"Friends? Sorry don't have any."

"What a pity."

Cordoba:

Spoiler:
Sense motive result: it doesn't seem bent on murdering you. It seems to think it's playing with you, toying or amusing itself with you.

"That is life."

"Just so we are clear... I know that you are not Ryor. So what name do I call you?"

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

Syd joins Cordoba in confronting Ryor, "'ere, Baldy, don't tell me you've gorn and turned nutty too."

Everyone except Ryor.

You guys can eavesdrop on the above if you want to go out into the hall and see what the screaming was about.

Or not. Play it as you see fit.

When it comes time: Knowledge (Religion) or Knowledge (the Planes)

DC 10

Spoiler:

Some fiends can possess creatures and force them to do their will. The motivations of fiends are as varied as the demons themselves. Evil creatures are more susceptible to possession, but no one is truly safe.

DC 20

Spoiler:

Some fiends can possess creatures and force them to do their will. The motivations of fiends are as varied as the demons themselves. Evil creatures are more susceptible to possession, but no one is truly safe.

They can also possess objects, and this is actually more common than possession of living beings. They usually do this of course to get to people who they intend to harm. When a fiend possesses you it can use you like a puppet, or just lurk inside your body hidden, whispering evil and nurturing your dark thoughts.

They are also said to be able to warp your body, eventually synthesizing the form of the host with their own being. The products of this transformation are often hideous beyond description.

Possessors actually have a physical body, but unlike most fiends they are able to separate a non-corporeal consciousness from their physical self and travel, they usually keep their body hidden somewhere safe. If they possess a body long enough resistence becomes impossible and their control becomes permanent.

Fabes, hello. How's work treating you? Heard you've been directing a lot of shows.

The Deceiver looks at Syd, "The guy's talking to you." The Deceiver continues his flanking move, setting up Ryor to be between him and Syd.

"But Vatadajs is not the name you call yourself, right? Please tell us the name we can summon you with. You are clearly powerful."

Syd wrote:

"Why would we do that?"

"We are only cautious. As I have said, you are powerful."

"How many are you willing to kill to banish me? Will you slay every last living thing on this world?"

"You're lazy? But does not your Goddess demand death of everything? Are you not her instrument? Come on, it'll be fun."

"But won't it really be fun and thrilling if we can really kill you? Really kill you. Won't that danger give you a rush you haven't felt in millenia. Think about it, you know I'm right."

Sneering: "Oooo. Tsk, tsk. You think I'll get sloppy? Not_F%+$ING_likely liar."

The demon possessed Ryor looks from face to face.

"Look. We both know I've been trapped for a while - I just want to have some fun. Perhaps I can even help you, I'm not really evil.... Come on, let's work as a team! Brotherhood, cooperation, adventure!"

At this, he spreads his arms as if welcoming you, and you catch a hint of Ryor's familiar grin.

Bohdan watches from the shadows.

Time for kruelaid to hit the sack.

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

Aref moves toward the hall to check out what is going on.....
"Dese is very interesting...hmmm...."

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

"Riggghhttt... I geddid now, yer the same fella that was in the ol' 'arflin' over dere. And now you's in Ryor... Why don't you just bugger orf?"

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

I would think that he needs a body to travel any type of distance, Syd. I think he is trying to 'hitch a ride' as it were. The question is what do we do about it?

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

"Yeah... problem is, 'e'll just get inta one of us, wunnee?" Syd muses.

"Alright, matey," he addresses the Ryor/demon being, "Wot yoo after then?"
