"Jeffrey Warren, Warren Inc. I specialize in odd jobs, and only met the others here yesterday." Jeffrey sheaths his swords and puts his shield on his back. "They were searching ingredients to cure an illness in Falchon's Hollow. I was hired by a worried father to bring his daughter back home, who went with these men to find the ingredients."

"The girl's dead. The father's grieving. I'm helping the men to find mushrooms so we can leave this place. The father will want to bury the girl," Jeffrey says as he looks around to see if there are any mushrooms in the tower.

Jeffrey walks to the bottom of the stairs and looks up. "I wonder what's upstairs..."

Jeffrey:
You find no mushrooms in the tower. Looking up you see the staircase leads to a trap door. The entire ceiling is covered in webs with all manner of small creatures dead and hanging in web sacks.

"Guys, I see a trap door upstairs and several small dead creatures hanging in web sacks. I don't trust this place to be safe for the night, and I feel a bit too squishy at the moment to clear what's upstairs."

"I suggest we sleep in the secret cells or the room next to it. Those rooms are clear now, and we can come back here tomorrow after healing up to check what else is in this tower."

If the others agree, Jeffrey will go to the room with William, Milon and Alperion. He'll tell them where they'll spend the night, and inform them the party will obtain the last mushrooms the next day. "We'll leave for Falchon's Hollow after that, but it's a bad idea to move on now."

I have a feel something else is hiding in the tower, and I don't want it creeping up on us during the night. I suggest we go to sleep, heal up, and then clear the next floor of the tower.

"Well, I don't know where this room you're talkin bout is but I gotta get outta this room" Un'gra walks out of the room quickly doing his best not to shove into anyone and kicks the spider's corpse on his way out the door. Taking a few steps into the courtyard, he pauses and shakes his body and stretches.

He looks over at the lion, "She sa beauty and right deadly looking. Never seen a lion before, You two aren't from around here, are ya?" Un'gra looks as if he wants to pet the lion, going as far as starting to reach his hand out but pauses, thinks better of it and turns and puts his hand out to Keanan, "Nice to meet the lot of you, really thank ya"

Un'gra follows Keanan and Augustine to the secret room. Seeing the cells, hesitates and says "Ya know what, I'll just set up my bedroll over. Not a big fan of sleepin behind bars." He sets up his bedroll, kicking some bones out of the way, and sits for the moment, waiting for the others to arrive to arrange the watch.

Throughout the night you hear the howling of the wolves and the coming and going of the bat swarm next door. A feeling of uneasiness grows as the darkness of this ancient ruin closes around you. The night passes without issue but everyone wakes with aches from sleeping on the stone floor or rotten cell mattresses.

After some prayer time, Keanan responds, "Let us prepare for the worst. Some healing for all from the divine to start and gathering wood and swords. But I would like a chance to tell them first to flee or be destroyed with the fire. No need for more animals to die or risk further injury. We may need all our strength for the day."

Keanan and Balazar look completely healed, and now they're ready to move. "Wow, I feel a lot better Nebdel, thank you and your god. Let's see where we stand. We first had to kill two flying creatures in the Altar room, which I think we dealt with, although Serila paid a dear price. We killed the spider in the tower and rescued a new friend who is buying drinks. HA! Finally, we have to clear the swarm of bats from the collapsed room. With Gozreh's help, I will speak to the bats and try to convince them to leave before we destroy their sleeping area. This should save us from injury if it goes well. Then I'll speak with the werewolf to collect the mushrooms. But we need to be prepared for treachery, as werewolves aren't natural beasts and may lack honor."

Keanan begins quietly moving down the hall with Balazar, ready to speak to the bats. He pauses before reaching the collapsed room to make sure the others are ready to move.

"I'll cleave that wolf in two parts if he betrays us, but I'd prefer to solve this both quick and peaceful." Jeffrey walks out of the room and towards the tower, waving at Keanan. "While you talk with the bats I'll check out to next floor of the tower, to see if there are any mushrooms there."

"Anyone else cares to join?"

When he arrives at the tower Jeffrey first inspects the spider they took down the day before.

Keanan watches Jeffery run off back to the tower. That boy reminds him of that half-elf that ran around everywhere. Heh, at least this human is focused and gave him his name, unlike that weird, unfocused and nameless half-elf. Man, I'm glad he's gone. I wonder if that nameless half-elf that never introduced himself left because of me? Nahhh.

Guess I'm on my own. Thought people would come with me to the bat area. Keanan and Balazar move to the task at hand.

Assuming Keanan can see the bats, he casts Calm Animals on the bats. They get a Will Saving throw to resist, which is 10 + 1 (spell level) + 2 (WIS MOD) = 13. Either way, he's going to then immediately cast Speak with Animals since both only last 1 minute.

Keanan:
Hundreds of high-pitched squeaks fill the air as the bats argue about what Keanan has just said. You can make out every third word due to the amount of voices, random nature and low intelligence of the bats. After a few minutes the whole swarm is awake and funneling out of the room flying into the air high above the ruin and out of view to the east. You can hear a "Thank You!" on the wind as they go out of sight.

I didn't really know how to role play a swarm of 2 int bats. Sorry if you wanted more

Keanan and Balazar return to the wolf lair, hoping that the werewolf will feel less threatened that way.

"Um, are you still here? My companions and I took a bit longer than we thought, as our injuries were quite severe, but in the end we did as you have asked. We have removed the two flying creatures from the Altar. We have killed the spider in the tower, and I spoke with the bats and they have left your lair. I have sent them to an abandoned hut far away. Once we have enough of the mushrooms, we will leave immediately, I promise."

Jeffrey draws his sword and takes his shield from his back, then tries to push open the trap door. If force is required Jeffrey uses it.

I'll take 10, which gives me 14. 16 if I still have Keanan's crowbar on me, which I don't remember returning to him yet.

While Jeffrey tries to open the trap door Un'Gra slips past. Jeffrey follows after Un'Gra, and looks around to see what's on the tower's next floor.
