If you hadn't heard, there's a new Shadowrun game being developed. It's fan-funded through kickstarter.com and it looks like they have the perfect team to make it happen. Give it a look and pitch in a few dollars if it seems like your sort of thing... only 4 days left in the fund drive.

Holy crap that took forever! I did it between work requests. Probably been typing in this on and off for close to six hours, lol. One question I had to skip, otherwise should all be good. Whew! Let me know if there is anything you need me to adjust.
We are shaped by our heritage. Facial features, skin tone, height,
build, metatype, even aptitudes are influenced by the genes
passed from parent to child. Attitude, too, is taught by parents,
informed by their own lives and their cultural heritage. Where
does your character come from, what is her lineage, who were
her parents, and what did she inherit from them?
Parents can be proud of their children or regret ever bringing
them into the world. Some are loving, and some are indifferent.
All of them are only metahuman and have their own opinions
of their children. Assuming they could speak, what would each
of your character’s parents say about her?
Many people remember certain historical events for the rest of
their lives. For those alive in the first decade of the 21st century,
it could be the assassination of John F. Kennedy, or the
Tiananmen Square protests, or the fall of the Berlin Wall, or
the attacks of 11 September 2001. People remember where they
were, and what they were doing when they first heard of these
events. Shadowrun history has significant events as well, such as
the assassination of President Dunkelzahn, the Crash 2.0, and
the emergence of technomancers and artificial intelligences.
Pick a few events from recent Shadowrun history and ask where
the character was at the time, what does he remember about the
event, and what was he doing at the time?
Very few people choose to become shadowrunners. More
likely, they are thrown into the life by a chaotic and uncaring
world. Even if she made a conscious decision to enter the
shadows, her decision is influenced by the world around her.
How did your character get into shadowrunning, and why did
she take that path?
People have control over their own living arrangements. From
the child young enough to use crayons and tape all the way up
to the elderly shut-in who plasters her walls with family photos
and cat pictures, everyone makes their living spaces more personally
pleasing. What is your character’s living space like, and
what has he added or changed to make it his own?
Everyone has beliefs, and many have beliefs strong enough to
be convictions. Some are religious, some are political, some are
social, and some are just about why people are here. What does
your character believe in, what are her convictions (if any), and
why does she hold them?
Everyone has aspects of their personality that grate on someone.
Even the best of friends annoy one another from time to time.
The flaws in a person’s character are as important as the qualities.
What do you dislike most about your character’s personality?
The Sixth World is considered by many to be spinning out of
control. If anyone could exert control over it, it would be the
“Big Ten” triple-A megacorps. These transnationals exert a lot of
influence on everyday life in the 2070s. Which of the Big Ten
does your character hold in the highest (or least low) regard,
which does he like the least, and why?
(I will need to re-read those when I get home and give you a better response, but suffice to say, the margin of regard won’t be by much either way.)
People make acquaintances and friends; we’re hardwired for it.
Humans are social animals. This is especially true in the shadows,
where often it is not the power you have, but the power you
can borrow, and not who you, are but who you know. There’s a
story behind each and every one of these relationships. What is
the story with your character and her contacts?
Most of those who may have foolishly stumbled on the pair’s PAN in search of spamming or identity theft and decided to give cracking that blurry node inside their PAN a go have awoken with sections of their mind damaged horribly, become comatose, or even died. Those who may have tried only half-heartedly or out of idle curiosity may have gotten off with what could be called a slap on the wrist, cursed with night terrors from which they awake screaming “She knows, she knows! I had to do it! She told me to!” Many for whom concerned loved ones have sought treatment have been found to exhibit unusual brain activity similar to the way devices communicate to and from the Matrix. All tests to show latent technomancy have proven inconclusive, and the activity seems to be unconscious on the part of those affected. No one is quite sure what to make of it, but when a particular doctor heard about one case from one of their medi-clinics, the megacorp he worked for began to quietly investigate this unusual situation. A new lead had been found. And these new “loose ends” couldn’t be allowed to remain…
While it is clear to him Tinker DLL has her own designs and intentions, Peter knows that she is utterly reliable. Any compiling task he asks for assistance with she is usually willing to comply with and has brought him information regarding shadowruns, their employers, and fellow runners. All in an effort to make sure none of these could compromise them. Unfortunately she is damaged, and as such she may not catch everything…
It’s Sunday morning, and your character has no commitments
until tomorrow afternoon. What does she do for the day?
Your character has a specific skill set, a list of Active and
Knowledge skills that define what she knows and her areas of
expertise. How did she come to learn those skills, and how did
she develop them to those levels?
Everyone has their limits. People can be dark, but most people’s
instinct is to draw the line at certain actions and thoughts, and
they keep to their own moral convictions. Is there a moral limit
that your character enforces on the jobs she takes, and in what
shadow work would she refuse to engage?
If you have an Awakened or technomancer character, consider
your character’s tradition and streams. Even within the major
established magical traditions and the recently emerged technomantic
streams, there is room for personalization. Ask yourself
what drew her to that particular paradigm, how does it affect
the way she views the world and her magic, how does it translate
into choice of mentor spirit or paragon, and how does it affect
the appearance of the spirits or sprites you conjure or compile?
While acceptance and bias vary from place to place, augmentations—
be they bio-, cyber-, gene-, or nanoware—are increasingly
common and available in the Sixth World. However, personal
technological enhancement is rarely cheap, and many implants
that runners possess are restricted. How did your character
come to have the enhancements she has, how were they paid
for, and what motivated the choices she made (if she did make
the choices)?
Life as a shadowrunner is by definition outside the bounds of
“normal” life. Shadowrunners do not truly fit into the lives of
ordinary people, whether they live in slums or mansions. What
does your character think of ordinary life, mainstream culture,
and those who abide by it?
Everyone has nightmares. Sometimes, we forget the dream
completely on waking. Sometimes, the nightmare haunts us or
even recurs. If your character had a lingering nightmare or a
deep-rooted fear, what would it be, and why does he find it so
terrifying?
People tend to attach sentimental value to items in their possession
or people they are close to. They make an effort to
keep these close by and safe. What is your character’s “sacred
object” or “close one,” and how did they come to be so important
to him?
One of metahumanity’s greatest assets is its ability to look toward
the future and imagine a better life. Even small children
have dreams about what they want to be when they grow up.
What did your character want to become when he was a child,
and what are his goals now?
A person’s appearance can say volumes about him. From fashion
sense, to the colors he prefers, to the way he walks and speaks.
Sometimes, his personality determines his appearance, and,
sometimes, the appearance he chooses to present the world effects
his personality. What does your character look like, and
what inspired his choices?
Everyone has a name, but a runner’s street name is a representation
of his connection to the shadows. Sometimes runners
choose their own moniker, but more often it is given to them as
a nickname or earned through some (mis)adventure. How did
your character come to be known by his street name?

Thanks! I actually did overlook 'Linguist' but my build is so tight I guess I am missing how I could squeeze it in. If you have some advice there, I am all ears.
Will get my introductory post in and answer the megacorp question above tomorrow for sure. Hopefully, I will have all my gear added in. I have it written down from back when I first made the character, but since that was over a year ago, I need to go back and re-read the stats and stuff to make sure I understand what I was doing, lol. Some of my notes look Greek to me, heh.
@DaWay: I have more backstory for Peter and Tink that should probably be for your eyes only, but you say you're not getting my PMs? Is there another way I could get it to you? Maybe PM me an email address?

Japanese 3/6
Arabic 2/6
Spanish 2/6
Russian 2/6
French 2/6
A character with this quality has a natural gift for learning
and understanding languages, grasping vocabulary and grammar
much more quickly than others would. This quality halves the
basic learning time for a language and modifies the rating of any
Language skill the character possesses by +2.
You could take one less rank in each language to offset the cost of the 5pt quality. The end result would be that you would have each of them at 3 and Japanese at 4, or you could keep Japanese at 3 and have an extra point to spend on gear.
EDIT: I just noticed that all your language points are from the free (INT+LOG)*3 skill points, so you couldn't spend them on the linguist trait without GM approval. Another option would be to drop your pistols and perception skill down to one rank each with a specialization. That way you'd be slightly better than you are now at one category of pistols and one category of perception checks, and could scrounge up the points for the linguist trait.

Peter also finds himself considering the notion Aztechnology wasn't involved since a large portion of their business is focused on magic and consumables. Other than that Evo seems somewhat "decent" as they seem to promote that all metahumans deserve good products, but Tinker DLL suggested this could be due to heavy testing on said metahumans, and Peter recognizes this could be true.
The one of most concern to Peter is Neonet. Peter and Tinker DLL find their readiness to help "restart" the Matrix in a new and super-improved format was just too quick, too perfect. That they had potentially already been waiting for something like this or were somehow involved in causing the Crash 2.0 to begin with was something Peter couldn't ignore. Peter strongly suspected that Neonet's bright star might have begun by burning the lives of thousands, and that could only be done with research of a most secret kind...
| Peter PANdora |
That never crossed my mind since it would basically be a "free" quality. I don't really have a problem with reducing Peter's skills to add some points to squeeze it in though which was Neko's other suggestion. But I didn't want to assume changing stuff was still available. :)

Sorry I have been absent from the boards but as you have probably guessed I have been extraordinarily busy with the new place and preparing for the baby. Unfortunately I do not think I will be able to continue running games for sometime. I would like to thank everyone and hopefully in the next couple months I might be able to run something. I appreciate your time and creativity.
| Peter PANdora |
Disappointing, but I admit I suspected and anticipated this based on the words "moving" and "baby shower" which appeared earlier. Lol!
A new human will revolutionize your priorities, and rightly so. Good luck with your upcoming infant and settling in to your new place. Hope to see you on the boards again some months (or years) down the road!
On the other side of this, is anyone willing to take up the helm of GM? I have unfortunately little experience with the ruleset of SR4A as every game I have tried to join dies off so fast. While conceptually understanding the rules, I would feel better playing for a little while before plunging ahead with GMing. I am not opposed to alternating the duties in the future if someone feels confidant enough to start up the game and get us rolling.

I've had a concept for a shadowrun game that I've wanted to explore for a long while. It would be a two part game, exploring the third VITAS outbreak in 2046 England. I need to do a bit more work on my worldbuilding before I'd feel comfortable running it but it's interesting to see that there might be some demand for it here...
Another possibility for a game would have the characters working as troubleshooters for Hestaby. You'd be a paramilitary unit looking after her interests in the California Free State, the surrounding NAN area, and perhaps the occasional foray into Seattle. I might put up an "interest check" thread in the next month or two if I end up having enough time to develop one of these campaigns...
