Mareike mirrors the priest, cocking her head as well "Franz? Or Herr Franz as he prefers? He's a puffed up military type, handy with that pistol of his , I'll grant him that. " Mareike's eyes narrow on the priest, "Why do you ask?"

Franz Flechter |

Franz stops his walk at the priest's touch. And now we come to it, they do have ambitions. Too high if they are talking of thrones! In his most professional manner Franz turns saying, "And what does this home of learning need from the House of Aschaffenberg? I freely admit I know of nothing that we have to offer you, but I'd be amiss of my duties to not learn from you. I do know my cousin is most eager to serve this city."

The priest laughs nervously and makes a pacifying gesture
Don't worry my child, I just asked to make sure that you don't associate with characters of doubtful reputations, but that Franz you speak of sounds like a man of honour...I still wondr though what he does in the Verena temple.
----------
The priest smiles...a bit wickeld on second thought
The new lord of this city could grant us the liberty of research - without the boundaries - the stoo strict boundaries of the church of Sigmar we would be able to work much more efficiently against the followers of chaos and break their grip on the humans of this city.

Marieke lowers her voice, "He's looking for a book. The Witch Hunter asked us to see if the Verenites had it. Franz volunteered to take a look." she says.

Franz Flechter |

I've been really sick this week, still not right but better.
Franz notes the smile and returns a slightly sly one with the practiced ease of the noble born. This is it ... "Hmm ... My cousin is not a scholar but it shouldn't be too hard to convince him to take a ... broad view of the liberties due true servants of a respected goddess. I'll see him tonight, I can broach the matter with him. Anything else you wish?"

The Sigmarite's expression freezes
The witch hunter? ...mhm... looking for a specific book, right? By chance, do you kow the title of that book? Or at least its topic?
----------
The priest hesitates, but then speaks even quicker
Well, expecting him to become the new ruler of this city, we could even donate a certain amount of gold for his cause...you know, just to ensure that he remembers how important liberty is in these times.

Mareike |

Marieke frowns, thinking furiously, "Um, he said it was black and shone like a rainbow if you looked at it cross-wise, something like that. He said it could corrupt the whole city, if his suspicions were true, and that the Vernites were a foolish lot of dreamers that thought they could harness the power of chaos against itself." she said, the furrows in her forehead becoming deeper the more she thought of what could possibly happen if what the Witch Hunter said was true.

Zyren Zemerys |

The priest nods solemnly
Oh yes, that witch hunter seems to be a wise man...While I would never dare to judge upon the ways of the Vernites in general I'm still very sceptic about their doings here in Ubersreik...a godd thing that witch hunter is here to protect us.
--------
The priest raises his hands defensively
Nothing, really, we know that Lord Rikkard will have a lot of things to do and we don't want to be another burden for him - we don't want to be nothing but friends.

Mareike |

At the priest's praise of the witch hunter's wisdom and good judgement, she gazes wistfully up at a particularly glorious scene depicted in stained glass.
"I hope one day Sigmar sees me fit enough to be a witch hunter like him."

Mareike |

Buoyed by the priest's observation, Marieke walks along until she stops and slaps her thigh in anger.
"All this talk and I've forgotten the reason I've come." she says crossly, angry at herself.
"The poppinjay, Franz, one of his Uncles men claims to have see a ratman entering one of the sewer entrances. I didn't see this creature, but the 'man' swears to it. What assistance can Sigmar's church provide to combat this threat?" Marieke hisses urgently , trying to prevent prying ears from hearing.
