Cats prepares for a fight as the Mariner holds off the guards. He swings his sword wildly, clanging off a guard’s armor, then cutting down a tapestry on a nearby wall.

Fearless hurls more magic, injuring both guards and knocking the acolyte to ground again.

Brother Butterfly calls upon Desna’s blessings to aid the Watchmen.

Falluk mutters a few words and his wound seems to bother him less.

”We must flee! They might send more of their henchmen here, but they will head for your ship!”

The acolyte grabs a wand from up his sleeve and shakes it.

First, we must smash these conspirators that demanded our lives.

He looks around at his surroundings. Wondering if there's multiple escape routes.

He whips out his favorite weapon into his off hand. While still holding the cure wand in his main hand, a magical effect causes a duplicate but slightly translucent WarRazor to spring forth. It grows in size and speeds toward the acolyte. It cuts at the prone figure.

Cats whips his blade across, cutting one of the guards across the thigh. The Mariner cleaves through a breastplate, injuring him further.

Fearless focuses his will on the acolyte, but he resists. ”I am an acolyte of Razmir! Your magic is useless, AAEeii!!” he yelps when Brother Butterfly’s spiritual blade gashes his face.

Falluk gestures and the acolyte looks around with wide eyes. ”What happened to the light!?” Climbing again to his feet he tries to run, and barrels full force into a wall.

The razor slices through the air aiming for the exposed throat of it's target. Not since the reality twisting events at Briarstone island has a war razor been wielded with such ferocity and carnage. Back then, it was in the hands of The Tatterman. Now, it's the hand of Desna herself that guides the weapon.

Fearless hurls a dagger, distracting one of the guards, but Cats and the Mariner cut them both down before they can bring their scimitars to bear. Brother Buttetfly’s magic injures the acolyte again, causing him to flinch away, straight into another wall.

”Don’t kill him! I need him alive!” Falluk cries, pointing at the blind fool.

The acolyte stumbles a little further down the hall, frantically tapping his wand to his chest.

”Damn, damn!”

"Come here you little $#it!" the Mariner chases down the acolyte, reaching for his collar. grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Cats gives chase after the acolyte, but feels that Mariner probably has him cold.

If not, Cats will double move to keep pace. He doesn't want to kill the acolyte, but will ask him some pointed questions.

If the acolyte runs away after Cats' double move to get close, he will brain the guy with his AoO:

Dear Recently Deposed Vision Falluk, Let me introduce you to.... THE WATCHMEN!


Fearless, The Mariner, and Brother Butterfly casually discuss how to transport unconscious bodies as they close in on the blind and battered acolyte. Blades turned to the flat side, he quickly goes down, and like a fat kid on a see saw he’s not rising anytime soon.

Brother Butterfly opens his bag, but Falluk forestalls him.

”He’s going to stay here. And I’m going to stay too. I’ve hit snags like this before, but I’m very charming, and quite good at weaving convincing stories. Unfortunately, I cannot think of how to spin your situation, but I can delay and misdirect pursuit and give you a chance to escape.”

Kneeling beside the acolyte, he touches he man’s temple and begins narrating an encounter much different than what happened.

”Jasper arrived by magic with Falluk. Apparently Jasper possessed an item capable to teleporting to his companions when attacked. Loyal Vision Falluk tried to stop him from freeing his companions, but was overpowered. While the guards fought bravely, he managed to drag you to safety.”

Falluk takes a breath and repeats the story again. Then one more time.

To Brother Butterfly, he adds, ”I don’t know what possessed you to return like this, and I’d like an explanation someday, but there’s no time. So for now, farewell my old friend, and if you make it back to the Verduran Forest, tell Merivelle hello for me.”

Fearless snickers. "Oh, he'll end up telling her hello alright." He makes a crude gesture circling his index and thumb together as he jams his second index finger through the hole."[/b] Not having to be told more than once they need to escape Fearless pulls on Brother Butterfly's cuff. "Com'on Shapeshifter! We don't have time for twenty questions ad spin the bottle." Fearless turns and makes it a few steps down the hall before he sees that Brother Butterfly isn't following. For once and the first time in a very long time Fearless calls Brother Butterfly by his real name and not by Shapeshifter. In a hushed and caring tone he looks up at him. "Brother Butterfly, we really need to get running."

Cats guffaws along with Fearless, but then gets very serious as he tries to figure out how Butterfly does it.

He looks Butterfly up and down and shrugs. How? Is it the lack of eyebrows?

Like Fearless, Cats feels the need to keep moving.

"I don't want to get in trouble here. I just came for the free food, not the catplications of your past love life."

Jasper turns and moves with his companions. He uses the rest of his fervor to really put on some speed. Never actually running, but clearing distance in a magical/mystical effect.

I need to replay these events in my head. There is a lot that happened and that is certainly still going on that I need to process. Any of you have any book knowledge of where the Verduran Forest?
It is a place that Razmiranian (sp?) followers who have had "shaken" faith get added dogma until they had their full or burst in the process. I don't know where it is though. We may need to make our way on the Sullen. What say you all fellow Watchmen?

@ GM . I mentally pictures that she pulled out scales when proving her right to her position and gave the order of arrest. It must have been something else. I'll rewind the pages and reread later.

@ Gm - when you said: Behold the crest of the Living God. It was a Gold symbol and I mentally pictured golden scales or a golden staircase. But that's probably Abadar and not Razmiran.

The Mariner finds himself pausing his progress back to the Starling, looking around only to find Cats and Fearless by his side, while Brother is fifty steps back in a comfy chair with a smoke pipe giggling to himself.

Nope. No scales. No hidden meaning intended.

Following Falluk’s instructions, the Watchmen leave the Temple through a passage that exits through a carriage house. They pass a few guards on the way, some of whom seem on alert to rumors of a disturbance, but none who have been ordered to stop Vision Jasper or his companions.

The group moves swiftly through the city. If anyone has the notion it would be a simple matter to follow you. Such an important robed figure in the streets cannot go unnoticed as every citizen makes way, bows, or offers their own blessing as Brother Butterfly passes.

Evening shadows stretch across the city from the setting sun as the group reaches the docks. The ramp to the Sellen Starling stands ready. It seems you have beaten pursuit.

Being the paranoid halfling that you are, you take a close look at the people around. There should be more. And there should be at least a few harbor guards. You also notice that the Sellen Starling has none of its sailors/pirates lounging on deck like they usually do.

Somethings not right! His mind shouts alarms. "Where is everyone? Something's not right. There should be more here...Double the guards..." He counts on his fingers, looking to Mariner. "Yer crew has betrayed us haven't they?" His paranoid mind stretching the truth as usual as he jabs fingers and accusations Mariner's direction.

Lesser planar ally takes 10 minutes to cast and requires payment. Also, a planar creature might not know the difference between a dirty rotten Razmiran and a dirty stinking pirate.

Meh. Cats and Fearless have always gotten along. Not because they are both crazy, because Cats is totally normal, but they just get along.

Also, everyone can see the lack of crew on the ship, which is weird.

The Mariner steps onto the deck, places a cautious hand on the gunwhale and meditates upon the silence. He knows every creak and crack of the Starling, can intimately feel where every single crewman is standing by the imperceptible bend of the wooden hull and the orientation of the listing from star and port. After long evaluating moments - "Everything's just fine!"

@ GM, I was looking up the Bit of luck - It appears to be a special ability that doesn't require concentration and doesn't "appear to" provoke based on what I read.
