Sorry to hear you've been sick, Kyrie! Hope you get well soon.

Also, toppling spell is a trip check, meaning roll 1d20 + caster level + Int mod. For now we'll just use that 16.

Kyrie's missile slams into the man down the hall from Deko and smashes him into the stone wall. He bounces off hard and hits the ground in a heap and doesn't get up.

"Reform in depth!" shouts the sergeant in back and the soldiers start slowly moving back into the room behind them. Two of them fire their crossbows but then move back instead of bothering to reload.

Light Crossbow attack vs. Deko: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Light Crossbow attack vs. Bat: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

After moving to the room behind them the two guards at the front hold their weapons at the ready.

Fezzik, if you moved forward 15 feet, you'd be touching diagonal corners of one of their guys, but you'd be able to swing at them, and then Deko and Bats would be able to move through you and make a front line proper. Bats and Deko are right in front of you right now, so until they move, it's either that or waiting on them.

I'm assuming Enoby's still performing; if not, subtract 1 from both rolls.

Enoby is still performing.

Bat and Fezzik move up, and Fezzik smashes the guard at the corner. As Bat moves past Fezzik one of the guards still on the line swings at her.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

...to no avail. Bat then swings at him with her mace, but doesn't connect.

The sergeant in back shouts, "Rush the big one!"

Botting Deko.

Deko moves up and punches at the guard who attacked Bat.

Deko punch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Deko damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

He knocks the guard's shield out of the way and smashes a fist deep into his gut, taking him out of the fight.

The guard around the corner by Deko counterswings at him.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

...he scores a nasty cut on the brawler!

Guards advance on the group, and Fezzik swings his polearm at them.

Fezzik cuts them to pieces, but more advance behind them! One slashes at Fezzik while another tries to hit Bat.

From a room further back, two more troops emerge - both heavily armored. One looks like a grizzled warrior veteran, clearly bodyguarding his charge, a handsome man with an open-faced helm - youthful, vigorous, and fit. A few stray strands of blond hair cross his face and he takes in the situation with a slightly curious, slightly quizzical look, then says, "Friends, friends, why are we fighting? Surely this is some misunderstanding. Please, put down your arms so we may parlay! I can offer you generous terms and I am always looking for... talent." He gives a polite smile quite at odds with the tense combat that rages around the hallway.

You are hereby sited for failure to observe the local laws and customs, failure to keep the heretofore mentioned constructed dwelling up to construction codes, and failure to pay the lawful taxes assigned to occupation of property!

You are ordered to cease and desist habitation of this dwelling and immediate vacate! Failure to do so will necessitate the continued carrying out of our lawful order...

...of Eviction!"

Kyrie takes a moment to muse that there is no Good and Evil. There is only the question of if you've paid your taxes.

Fezzik pauses for a moment when the apparent leader proposes to parley. When both Zinnath and Kyrie continue to attack, he shrugs his shoulders and swings at the man across from Deko but misses when his arm hits the wall to his left.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 4 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 4 - 4 + 1 = 8
Damage: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) + 4 = 16

Can someone verify I'm calculating my attack correctly? As I understand it, since I attack with reach I use the ranged rules so I suffer from "cover" and "into melee" penalties.

You only take cover, not the "striking into melee penalty: "When making a melee attack against a target that isn't adjacent to you (such as with a reach weapon), use the rules for determining cover from ranged attacks." The rules specifically say "cover", excluding the penalty for bow-users. =3

Crap. Just saw I screwed up my damage dice. Ummmm, here? Damage!: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Damn, that last one got me good! she thinks, taking a moment out from righteous head-bashing to channel some positive energy into herself and her allies (excluding those guards in the front line her friends have wounded).

The handsome leader chuckles at Kyrie's comment, amused, and says, "My dear, this moathouse predates Hommlet's territorial claims! It was built long before the keep that is now under construction. This territory is under the sway of the Temple and it is to them that I pay my tithes. Last chance - you should join our endeavor! There is wealth and power to be had, opportunity for those ready to seize it, prosperity and a stronger future!"

"Stop. Everyone just STOP!" she yells, cautiously studying the effect.

"How...how much?" she stammers out, her greed allying with her curiosity to form a temporary coup of her logic's governmental seat.

Ignoring the wizard and following Deko's lead, Fezzik also attacks.

Ogre screens are great!

Heedless of the consequences - or perhaps expecting them and relishing the bloody results - Deko wades in again, swinging his fists. He batters the guard's shield down, knocks aside his sword, and smashes him in the throat with an expert punch.

Fezzik swings his polearm but it glances off the shield of one of the men in front.

Zinnath blasts another guard and fells him, but the sergeant moves up to the front to take his place.

Fezzik AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Fezzik damage: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6, 5) + 4 = 18

...then crumples as Fezzik skewers him during his advance.

The handsome man glowers and shouts, "So be it! You have made your choice!" His hand hovers over the handle of a mace at his belt, then goes to a necklace with a symbol. He mutters a prayer...

Knowledge (religion) DC 10:
The unholy symbol is a spider with red eyes - a symbol of Lolth!

He points at Fezzik! Will save DC 16 or paralyzed!

One of the guards still on the front line stabs at Deko...

Deko, don't forget to update your HP in your status bar - you took 4 earlier upthread as well.

Another fires his crossbow at the towering half-ogre.

Crossbow damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

The bolt scrapes off Fezzik's shoulder. This does not break the paralysis, if Fezzik fails his save.

Another guard slashes around the corner at Deko.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

His cut is blocked by the wall.

One of the remainder pushes in to the front, near where the sergeant fell.

Fezzik AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Fezzik damage: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) + 4 = 15

Fezzik crushes him as well if Fezzik saves vs. the paralysis - order of operations matters here.

Pulling his sword from the sergeant's body, he looks up at the leader with a grin. It is quickly replaced with a look of concern as the leader appears to cast a spell. He waits in anticipation of something to happen but stikes down another guard when he gets to close.

Sensing no effect of a spell, Fezzik attacks the guard in front of Deko. Fortunately for the guard, he stumbles on the growing pile of bodies and Fezzik's swing goes over his head.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 4 + 1 = 9
Damage: 3d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) + 4 + 1 = 17

I seem to not be getting notifications from the board about new posts on this specific campaign. I'll try to just make sure to check in every day manually.

Fezzik shakes off the hold spell and, though he misses, he continues to demoralize the ranks of the enemies as an apparent unstoppable juggernaut!

Kyrie blasts another nearby guard, leaving him reeling and bleeding. (#18 now disabled.)

Zinnath blasts the sergeant, who takes the hit and keeps going!

Enoby moves up from behind.

Botting Deko.
Deko punch!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Deko slams his fist into the shield of the guard that he's fighting, which holds.

The woozy guard hit by Kyre's missile swings at Fezzik before collapsing from his injuries.
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Fezzik takes a nasty gash!

Deko's enemy slashes at him...
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
...but the brawler intercepts the swing with his mailed fist.

Guard #17 fires his crossbow at Zinnath.
Crossbow attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
...but he fumbles his bolt in the attempt.

Guard #12 also swings at Deko...
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

...another brutal slash!

The sergeant growls and keeps his shield up carefully while moving to the front line to face Fezzik. Fezzik takes a swing as he closes in.
Fezzik: AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The sergeant manages to knock away Fezzik's polearm and get into a threatening position.

The handsome evil priest snarls and shouts, "YOU WILL SUBMIT!" He points at Fezzik once more. "Fear my power!"

Fezzik, can you make that Will save AGAIN?!?
Yes he has hold person prepared twice.

The priest's bodyguard draws a handaxe and hurls it idly at Deko.
Thrown handaxe: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18 (includes -4 for firing into melee and -4 for firing past cover)
Thrown handaxe confirm crit: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
Thrown handaxe damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The axe hits Deko in the side of the head with a meaty thunk. Fortunately it doesn't hit anything important...

PARTY UP! As noted earlier I'll check in each day to make sure I don't miss notifications so hopefully we can knock this fight out and move on!

Bat grits her teeth as Deko and Fezzik both take hits from the soldiers of evil. Once more she channels Pelor's healing grace before growling, "Suck it up, lads! Let's dish out the pain and put an end to these spawn of wickedness!"

After healing her friends (and excluding the soldier who just got dropped and the guy standing next to him), Bat steps again into the breach, ready to deal some righteous whooping with her trusty mace.

The sergeant brings his sword down on the helpless Fezzik, though because Bat and Deko are in his way he doesn't risk taking the time to line up a killing blow (probably for the best).

No longer worried about Fezzik's polearm, the priest's bodyguard steps up into the fray and also slashes the half-ogre.

Even with his great skill he is unable to smash through the half-ogre's armor!

The evil priest steps up behind the front line and casts a spell, sending a surge of healing energy into the wounded sergeant.

Realizing that they're gonna need a double-whammy to get out of this one, she grasps the amulet around her neck and begins chanting. The air grows angry and the light dims. A small funnel appears on the far room and dances about as some thing reaches to our realm from a far-off place.

Deko, bloodied and bruised, continues to do what he does best - punch.

Deko slams his fist into the sergeant's abdomen and hits so hard that even Kyrie can hear the man's ribs breaking. Blood spits out of his mouth as his xiphold process snaps into his heart and his entire respiratory system becomes a swampy morass of blood and bile.

The sergeant is down!

The bodyguard takes this chance to chop at Deko.

Bodyguard longsword damage vs. Deko: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Deko wavers as he takes a nasty gash, spits out a tooth, and wobbles on his feet, but stays up due to his half-orc ferocity.

The other guard swings around the corner at Deko as well.

He strikes the corner again.

Another guard moves into the front line and thrusts his weapon at Bat.

His attack bounces off her pauldron!

"Let darkness take you," the evil priest snarls as he gestures at Bat with his unholy symbol.

I'm pretty sure Bat can't exclude enemies from a positive energy channel without being able to see them. If she CAN, please roll the 1d6 for her. Otherwise, she'll take total defense for a round in the hopes that Fezzik will come back around.

His fist impacts the bodyguard's shield and fails to break through the man's defenses. His ferocity then falters and he collapses to the ground, bleeding badly.

Enoby fires an arrow past Deko and the corner at the other guard.
Enoby: Shortbow attack: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (4) - 4 = 0 (-4 for firing into melee, -4 for shooting past cover)
She is unable to land the arrow.

The bodyguard swings his sword at Deko...
Bodyguard: Longsword attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
...somehow the brawler's near-drunken weaving from all his wounds causes the strike to miss!

The remaining guard steps past the priest (behind the bodyguard) and advances to the front. He lines up his sword for a killing blow on Fezzik.
Move action, followed by a standard action to start a coup de grace. If he is not interrupted, this will complete on his next turn. Since Fezzik is paralyzed, Deko is dying, and Bat is blind, no AoOs on him from them.

The evil priest yawns slightly and points at Kyrie. "Quiet, you," he says.
Kyrie: DC 16 Will save vs. silence.

PARTY UP! Better make that save, Fezzik...

[Mentally to Zinnath]: The priest has blinded me! You'll need to be my eyes! What's happening?

Damn, this sucks! I, as the player, see a way to save Fezzik in the short term, but with Bat blind, she wouldn't realize the CdG is coming. it'd be awful metagamey for me to suggest it.

EDIT: I hope we all live long enough for "Blind as a Bat" to become a running joke amongst us.
