An Archer might be cool?

Dark Archive

I'm an archer/ranged character and so is Neesa. I think it would be better to have 3 melee/2 ranged than 2 melee/3 ranged, no?

Count me out. I want to focus on other games.

Aaaaah yeah yeah, you're right - my bad. You guys are both ranged. I guess 3/2 and 2/3 can work?

I have restated Deliwe to be a STR-based frontliner. At the moment they use a sword-and-board build, but will transition to 2-handed later.

Hm.

What kind of elf Frontline can I work up? Maybe something involving two weapon fighting?

Let me crunch some numbers and I can get back to you. It won't be optimal (I'm putting an elf in the frontline, for crying out loud), but if I wanted optimization I'd be a Wizard.

Edit: Thinking of a Fighter who uses twf and Crane Style, being the Dodge Tank. Decent enough damage, picking up Power Attack next level, TWF and Improved TWF at 5 and 6, Advanced Weapon Training for the Grace talent at 7, and Double Slice at 8. Then I can finish out the Crane feats at leisure.

Just a couple more days left on this recruitment for anyone that is finishing up!

Last minute gonna dot to throw in a half-elf vigilante (darklantern).

I've been eyeing this recruitment for days. I'll get the submission up tonight.

Darklanterns gain a +2 to Dex and Cha when I'm their vigilante identity. Anything that changes because of that I placed in parenthesis.

I know people like to think that the Vigilante should keep his secret identity secret from the party but that seems dumb to me. Definitely would be okay with revealing to the party. If they trust each other enough to fight alongside one another then why hide?

Backstory:

“The Darklanterns are the elites of the elites!” Sades had exclaimed. One of his fellow Bearers had laughed.

“You make it seem like you idolize them,” the Bearer said. ”Bunch of freaks that want to look like those things. Besides, you just joined. What makes you think you have what it takes?”

“You wouldn't get it, you basically had to just ask to be a Bearer, some of us had to work for it!” Sades grinned and slugged the elf on shoulder. ”But think of it: a half-elf Darklantern. That's the kind of thing they write songs about.”

Something about the idea of belonging to a such a group tugged at Sades’ very soul. It was a kindness that a half-elf had even been allowed to join the Lantern Bearers at all. Bit like many of the half-elves in Erages, Sades longed to be thought of as just another elf. Rare was the elf in Kyonin who treated Sades poorly but, he could always see the pity the could not mask behind those large eyes.

---------------------------------------------------

Sades clawed at his own face. He could feel the ritual taking hold. His body strained. His bones stretched. In the distance he could hear a familiar voice screaming in agony.

The pain was far worse than Sades had anticipated. The elves had explained that the first transformation often broke many would-be Darklanterns.

Maybe he had not been ready. Calistria's sting! How could anyone ever be ready for this?

Sades dug his nails into his skin, looking for anything to focus on other than the pain of the ritual.

The elves in the room stepped back as Sades fell to his knees, pulling the candelabra to the floor. Extinguishing the only light in the chamber.

Darkness.

The screaming voice reverberated in the room and and slowly they became the screams of someone else.

Sades opened his eyes and stared up at the group of Drow that had taken the place of the fair skinned elves.

“What a pleasure to finally meet you…” the female elf paused as if deciphering a scroll, “Neivdrad Deldlyn.”

Should have a PM out tomorrow for my selection.

A late application, Larandel Farnes, an elven fighter of the Shin’Rakorath.

Background:

Larandel was born in Kyonin past the time of the war against the demon Treerazer in the southern region of the Ferani forest. His grandparents were part of the elves who came back from Sovyrian and fought the demon spawns to defend their ancient territory.

He lived short in Kyonin. His parents, scouts and forest soldiers of the Farnes family, were moved to the Mierani forest in northern Varisia. Once stabilised Kyonin borders, their mission, like for much other elves, was to establish a permanent position around the once shiny territory of the elves around Celwynvian. The end goal was to reclaim the territory and observe the humans in the region in order to assess if they were to be trust in this new age of civilisation.

Larandel grow in a time when elves had to fight hard to recover their position in Golarion. As so many other elves, he was trained in the traditional fighting styles of his race since he was a child. Fending contests and archery trials were common in his youth. Soon enough he started to patrol the forest with a sword in his hands and study the bases of elven wizardry.

When he came of age at his 110, the internal pressure to get out of his ancestors territory and discover the world by his own eyes was nearly unbearable. Under the goal to know more about the new human civilisations and find the ancient elven relics being smuggled all around the markets of Golarion he departed the forest under his elders consent.

For 5 years the young and reckless Larandel traveled through Varisia. He walked through its plateaus and mountains, sometimes with varisian caravans, others with little more help than his bow. In the end discovering the largest cities of the region. Startled at the changing dynamism of Magnimar or Korvosa, the elf that returned to the Mierani forest was largely different from the one who departed. The largest change the half-elf woman that came hanging smily from his arm.

The insertion of Enthel into the elven culture of Crying Leaf was always conflictive, but by the age of 120 the marriage was finally accepted under the elven rites of Desna. One year later their first son, Delendir Farnes, was born. The child was bullied since early age for the impurity of his blood. Despite Larandel's love and true interest the elf had a hard time to understand the emotions and fast maturing of his family. He closed into his own and focused in his tasks to scout the Mierani forest.

His son raised strong and his faster maturity gave him soon an advantage over the bulliers. But preasured psychologically by a world he could not understand he committed in the end a horrible crime. Convinced by the continuous attacks on the impurity of his mother's blood, he finally reached to kill Enthel, her mother, in an attempt to clean the honor of his family. An ovehelmed Larandel was charged to judge the destiny of his own son on the horrible crime. Unable to condemn the youth to death, the father finally took him to exile. Half-dead by the death of his love, he personally looked for the Shoanti tribe were he found his Enthel and there left Delendir with whom he was unable to talk since the terrible event.

Ever since Larandel has sought the peace in the wilderness of the forest looking for the Brightness. Not enough to forget, he has focused into the deepness of elven arcane books. In that fashion almost 60 years passed since he returned, and only now he is starting to recover from the tragic events of his family and turning his sight towards events developing in the world around.

The shadow over Riddleport has worried the elven elders since its apparition. Interested in the Cyphergate and worried himself about the signs, Larandel offered himself volunteer to join the ranks of the Shin’Rakorath. He was easily chosen due to his past experience with humans, his interest for magic and boldness in combat. Not to say to move him finally away so perhaps he can finally found his Brightness. Thus, he was sent along with other elf comen from a far land and named Kawa to the pirates city south of the Mierani forest.

Recently an experienced elven ranger, Kwava has joined the ranks of the Shin’Rakorath. Larandel has been assigned to keep an eye on Kwava as a mission. Larandel direct superior in the Shin’Rakorath explained that he feared a renegade elf from the Mierani Forest might have fled to the human city of Riddleport, where the renegade might have recruited the aid of one of that city’s crimelords. Larandel must scout out the city of Riddleport and the environs to determine if any of the city’s crimelords had indeed taken in a mysterious elven ally of late. What the Shin’Rakorath leaders fear and have told him but didn’t tell Kwava is that this “renegade” may in fact be a drow—they hope that their fears are unfounded.

Elves with this racial trait and an Intelligence score of 11 or higher gain the following spell-like abilities once per day: comprehend languages, detect magic, detect poison, and read magic. The caster level for these effects is equal to the elf’s level. This racial trait replaces elven magic.
Blended View: Prerequisite: low-light vision. Half-drow whose non-drow parent had low-light vision might be blessed with a legacy of versatile senses. Characters with this trait keep their low-light vision but also gain darkvision to a distance of 60 feet. Elves or gnome can take this trait in place of keen senses.
