Hurray my shield is worth something this battle, sorry I did not update my vital line, with the shield my AC is 17.

Graxton actively blocks the blow and hopes he will have support soon. Graxton moves to be flanking with Kalvin as he calls upon his god for healing. "Gorum, great god of war fill us with your glory may they see your power."

Awesome healing!: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Five foot step, standard channel excluding the leader, the noble gets healed too!

Kalvin Theordos wrote:

No you're not. You started at 20 HP, and have been hit 3 times for a total of 14. That leaves you with 6 hp (before the channel above). You must've marked a hit twice, or recorded someone else's damage.

Alright, Graxton, I see above where you said "Club and Shield in hand" otherwise, I'd make you take the damage just for not updating your block.

Mob Fight - Round 2 - concluded

Graxton moves forward and calls on the power of Gorum to heal all of their wounds. The healing magic surrounds the group, strengthening tired muscles and sore limbs.

Mob Fight - Round 3 - continued

Kalvin swings for the leader of the mob with both hands, putting all his power behind it. The blow strikes the shaken leader, causing him a serious wound.

A few moments later, a bolt of arcane force strikes the same target, fired from Crux's wand, damaging the leader even more.

Swinging at the distracted paladin, Gold thug's club catches Kalvin behind the ear. Even though it's not the head-splitting whack it could've been, it still smashes the youth for 7 hp.

Stepping back from the fray for a moment, to get his head on correctly, Head Thug takes out a potion, and downs it then gets right back into the scrum.

I show Kalvin at 5/20 hp now. Marnos and Lazlo are up next for the good guys.

Lazlo lunged forward quickly, running past his companions and into the fray; each one of his steps leaving behind a soft echo before it left the ground once more. The thug that was engaged with Graxton was soon in range but instead of standing by his companion and facing the thug, Lazlo flipped into the air and landed behind him, effectively flanking their enemy between himself and Graxton.

A small cloud of dust rose to greet the former noble as he made his landing, in an instant his rapier snaked its way towards the back of his opponent, slashed downwards at his right thigh and ended its deadly dance of stabs and slashes with a rising slice that returned Lazlo's weapon into a guard position.

Mob Fight - Round 3 - continued

Lazlo makes a dazzling acrobatic maneuver to get into flanking position, but his strike at the enemy mobster misses dealing any damage.

Firing through the crowd of the mob, Marnos takes careful aim on the leader of the rioters. The arrow finds its way through the melee up front and into the throat of the mob leader, who falls dead on the street like a stone.

The other rioters, now without a firebrand stirring them begin to question the idea of fighting. Red Thug rushes off to the south, withdrawing and trying to cover his retreat. Blue and Green thug still flail about in the grease, unable to get any footing. Only Purple Thug stays and can launch an attack.

Stepping to the side of the half-orc, Purple swings his makeshift club at the war-priest, cracking Graxton's head for 9 hp dmg.

Even with a -4 for cover, you hit the boss, so I took it that way. The rest have a 50% chance of withdrawing, low means leaving the fight

My fault for being a bit color-blind, but Blue Thug is the prone one next to Kalvin; Purple Thug is upright and just critted against Graxton. I see why Crux would Magic Missile Purple, but Kalvin would 5' step and leave himself open to a flank to do so. Did you perhaps mean Blue? the one lying beside you?

I'll take the 5 foot diagonal and still attack the Purple thug, though I won't use kilocalories to do so, stupid autocorrect.

That way if Orange attempts to flank, he'll either have to go through the grease or provoke.

Mob Fight - Round 4 - continued

Kalvin steps backwards and swings at a surprised Purple Thug. The longsword cuts the man deeply, but the finishing shot comes from Crux's magic missile wand. The arcane force bolt knocks another thug from the fight.

Gold Thug, seeing another ally fall, cuts and runs, scrambling back the way the rioters came.

Apologies for my late post.

You're right. I never new that! That makes my Attack Roll 16, not 24. Also, I forgot to add 1 to my damage for PBS, so if I hit, that's 11 damage, not 10

Mob Fight - Round 4 - continued

Firing from a distance, Marnos hits the prone Blue Thug. The shot is true and the aim correct and the arrow takes him from the fight.

Lazlo's swing at the remaining rioter misses any connection as the greasy footing becomes a bit dicey for the rogue.

Yay! level 3, just need to rest or is it retroactive now?

Orik looks at the miserable man before him, then yells at him, "Just lie still and push away any weapon." He then will check on the merchant/noble to see if he is dead or what, he thinks to himself, he should be stable unless the initial attacks killed him.

All effects of leveling up are immediate except spell slots for wizards or clerics or those that have to prepare them in advance.

The rioter has already thrown down his club. "Ain't got no weapons, sir. We just wanted to find that girl what killed the King and this dandy got in our sights, saying it wasn't the girl, but a conspiracy. That's hogwash! The girl done it!" he shouts back. The injured nobleman is unconscious but stable. It looks like he took a pretty good beating and isn't' used to the rough stuff like a group of heroes, but besides some bruises he should be fine.

"Kalvin, I submit that this is not the best time to be lecturing that wayward soul. There is a person's life at stake and I doubt we have the time for you to talk him into redemption. Let him be off."

The surrendered rioter looks at Kalvin, but warily. "Maybe boss, maybe we were a bit too hasty, but everyone was so sure she did it. And that guy, he just made us mad. I don't know what got into us...I just know we are out for justice!"

"Justice?" Lazlo grabbed the man by the shirt, his green eyes boring into him "If I were to follow your justice you would be a corpse and my blade would need cleaning" He unhanded the man and stalked towards his friends "Let us see if we can bring this noble..." The word lingered in his tongue for several uncomfortable moments "About, but lets not discuss any details we have with him just yet, remember he could be an agent of the Arkonas" He continued in a whispery tone "And I agree with Crux, its best we do not waste anytime on this misguided fool, if I were to kill every fool I'd met half of Korvosa would be barren and haunted"

The surrendered rioter simply glares at Lazlo, not wasting his breath on arguing.

Using his wand, Graxton heals back the nobleman and the paladin. The nobleman stirs as the healing brings him back to consciousness. He grins at you through his busted lip and bruised face. "Thank you for helping me. If you hadn't come along, I think they would've killed me for sure. Simply for questioning whether Trinia Sabor actually killed the king. I know the girl, and she's no killer."

The man stands and begins dusting himself off. "This City is getting out of control, I may need to head to my estate in Cheliax instead of staying here any longer."

As far as I can tell, the only wounded party members are Kalvin (still at 22/28) and Graxton (19/21) are the only wounded party members.

"Before you go, good sir. Perhaps you would be willing to aid us in locating the young woman. We were sent here to retrieve her before the mob could. If you could direct us to her home or other likely hiding place, we can do for her as we've done for you."

"Aye," says the nobleman, trying to help in any way he can. "I do know where the painter lives, she has done my portrait a number of times. While I might otherwise suspect your motives, you have done me a service, and I feel obligated to return the favor."

He then proceeds to give you more accurate direction to the flat of Trinia Sabor. Apparently it is on the third (and highest) floor of a tenement building at 42 Moon Street.

"She has a landlady that looks out for her so you may have some trouble getting up stairs. Tell them Sir Falmouth sent you to retrieve his portrait and you should have less trouble. Godspeed to you, gentlemen!" And with the that the man turns on his well-appointed heel and makes for the safety of the Heights.

Once the nobleman leaves Lazlo turns his attention to the party "I doubt the sight of five armed individuals will inspire anything short of worry, she may think us men sent to silence her" Lazlo looks to the direction nobleman pointed out to them "This is what I propose; we split into two groups, Marnos and I will be in one and the rest of you will make up the other" He looked to Kalvin and Graxton "It will fall to both of you to insure no one suspicious enters the area near her building" His gaze moved to Crux "If you can ask the dragon to fly upwards and scout the area from above it would make securing the area even easier" Lazlo points to Marnos then to himself.

"The two of us will enter her apartment and try to find her before anyone else, failing that...Marnos I believe is the best equipped among us to follow her trail" His focus moves to the half-elf "The two of us while armed are not clad in heavy armor nor in anyway do we stand out, which is why I believe we are best to handle getting to her before someone else does"

"Dah, da, da, you would Kalvin..." He just chuckles then waiting for the other two to get off into the building.

As the party discuss its approach, they walk the few block to Moon Street. AS they make a quick detour to the right, avoiding a Hellknight patrol that is double-timing it through the streets of The Midlands.

When you arrive at the tenement in question, you find the neighborhood to be a densely built place where sunlight barely reaches the street at ground level. Above, jury-rigged catwalks, overhanging roofs, lines of laundry and homemade bridges of rope and boards create a cluttered tangle of multi-level mess of gutters, upper floors, and rooftops. This is the slum above -- a place known as The Shingles.

Sure enough Trinia's building appears to originally have had three floors, bu there is at least that much, if not more of the The Shingles built up on top of the building. The maze of mish-mashed building extends all down the block and over as far as the group can see. Here in shanties built on rooftops and upper floors of abandoned buildings or amid the chimneys, peaked roofs, or eroding gargoyles of the City there are rumored to be vagabonds, thieves, monsters and perils to match those found in the most dangerous dungeon.

All of you have heard rumors of Stirges or imps or even hideous chokers who lie in wait to nab the unsuspecting in the that tangle of slums above the streets.

As the group splits, Majenko takes to the air. He sends a message telepathically "I will do what I can from teh air, but this mess on top will make it harder.".

As the approach group (I think that's Crux and Lazlo) enter the garden of the building, they are accosted by a rather large old woman in a lemon-yellow housedress. "Who are ye' and what do ye' want here?" she calls out. Two bruising hulks of manpower appear at the door behind her, looking to see if mom is alright. "May ain't you the ugly one," she calls out to Crux as he and Lazlo approach for discussion.

In silence Lazlo motions wish his hand for Crux to remain calm, his eyes look to his companion and you could almost hear them say Have patience with her ignorance for now Lazlo's green eyes turned to the woman and her minions.

"My name is lazlo, I have urgent business with..." He pauses and looks about "Tirina Sabor" he speaks the name in a barely audible whisper "I realize the danger she's in, and my only intent is to see her free of it, may my friend and I pass?"
