Ambroze squints one eye as he sights down his crossbow. With a brief, heartfelt prayer to Desna, he fires his weapon at the old woman 'spirit guide'.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1
Damag: 1d6
Another crossbow bolt catches the woman only mere moments after the arrow hit, thudding into the old womans collarbone. She appears to be made of stern stuff though, and remains standing.

Ishorou is closest to the cannibals, roughly 90 feet from the closest ones. Gwen and Marcus are up.
Marcus Alanto
OK with any movement they can hit us if they charge so I suggest single move and ready staying in a line. Hopefully Aerys can stay behind and run around.
Marcus trots straight toward the enemy group, screaming at the top of his lungs and banging his falcatta against his shield with a metallic clang. As they start to react to the ambush he positions his shield to take their charge.
Fight me! Fight me you heathen bloody savages!
To the others: Hold the line! Aerys try and get round them and fire that bloody bridge!
Move action: Move 20' trying to stay in the centre of our line.
Standard action: Ready an attack.
Sorry again. Marcus is getting a bit carried away. And apologies in advance Gwen for all the healing that will be required.
Edit: So carried away I forgot the attack.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 (incl bless)
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 (whetstone)
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Ok, anyone forming up in a line with Marcus and readying an action to attack should also make me an attack roll and damage please :). Tun'ada you just about have enough movement to do this too if you want.
Need Gwen's action but I don't think its going to affect what the leader does so...
Moments after Gwen (insert action here), the savage leader runs across the bridge, joining the other savages as he points at the group and screams orders in his pidgin tongue.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Savarend waits with the others in forming a picket line.
Attack 1d20+6
Damage 1d6+3Since readying an action is a standard action, can you ready a full-round action?
For future reference, nope. Readying actions also shifts your initiative count. Will update soon with everyone elses actions.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Aerys moves into position with the rest of the front liners, pulling out a longbow from over her shoulder and firing it at the closest savage. The shot sails over the crowd and falls harmlessly into the river. Aerys winces in embaressment.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
1d8 ⇒ 1
Gelik forms up behind the line and cries out in an inspiring voice, magic aiding his speech-
Savages such as these are no match for us- courage castaways, for Gelik Aberwhinge never fails!
I will add the +1 to your attack rolls and damage this round, you can do it in subsequent rounds.
Ishorou moves up alongside Tun'ada and Savarend and raises his Katana, preparing to strike down a cannibal in a defensive posture.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 IC, Bless.
The dimorphodon hovers in the air, waiting for its prey to come closer.
Delay.
The savages work themselves up into a frenzy, some rushing for the line and others moving towards the ridge to hurl javelins up at Ambroze and Chi. Five of them are able to reach the combat through a speedy charge, each moving to form up against a single foe.
Marcus' falcata cuts deeply into the savage facing him, but the blow is not enough to drop the slavering cannibal. A rusty scimitar is lunged towards Marcus, a blow he is easily able to parry with his own heavier blade.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Miss vs Marcus
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Tun'ada's blade leaves a gaping wound in the cannibal facing him, but Tun'ada takes a glancing blow to the arm in return with a rusty blade. The cannibal howls in triumph, launching spittle all over the Mwangi tribesman.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Hit vs Tun
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Ishorou's blade gets past his opponents defences by the barest margin, his foe too busy running at him to dodge the somewhat basic strike Ishorou attempts. The katana slides into the savages ribs- who keeps his hand on the hilt of the blade as he strikes back. Ishorou is too slow to avoid the strike, but his well maintained chain shirt protects him from more than a bruise.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Miss vs Ishorou
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Savarend launches a high kick towards his opponent as he closes but something in the mans insane eyes unnerves the Dwarf, who botches the maneuver. He is easily able to duck underneath the riposte.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Miss vs Savarend
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The savage charging at Aerys finds that his half-broken scimitar is unable to penetrate her studded leather armour. Aerys releases one hand from her bow and prepares herself for a knockout punch.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Miss vs Aerys
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Two savages hang back to keep Sasha restrained in her ropes, while another two move closer to the ridge and hurl javelins at the sniper who is harming their spirit guide. The distance is too great even for the savages mighty arms, and the javelins don't make it all the way up the ridge before clattering back down.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The remaining savages on your side run to surround the small line of warriors, beginning to surround you.
The witch appears to be waving her arms up into the air in some kind of ritual. Those in melee with the savages have no way of seeing over to her but Chi, Ambroze and Gwen may be able to make her actions out...
The old woman is casting Summon Monster 2.
The dimorphodon flies past the melee squawking, and targets Tun'ada's wounded foe. Unfortunately the bird completely misses with its bite and soars back into the air for another pass.

With the clashing of blades upon blades, and the roars and warcries of hated foes, the battle is joined in earnest...
Over to you guys...
Savarend Whiteroot
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"The Rose Unfolds." Savarend's blows begin in high guard, and thrust high at his opponent's torso. During this thrust, his fists rotate through a very tight arc downwards, appearing as if they are trying to carve a hole into the opponent. His maneuver is completed by returning to guard stance.
FoB on savage facing him.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Wow awesome Alex.
Just to clarify did Ishorou wound his with 11 or 12 damage? And the archers should be getting +1 for higher ground right?
The +1 for higher ground is usually only for melee, but it does give your archers excellent line of sight over the battlefield. Ishorou did hit, just barely. The savage facing him is extremely wounded.
Psst Tanner- Remember Gelik's giving you +1 damage too. It makes the difference between the cannibal still standing and you pounding him into the ground...
Savarend's blows slam into the savage, dropping him in a blur of motion.
Marcus Alanto
Marcus slashes his falcata in wide arcs keeping the three adjacent savages at bay. He feints a horizontal slash and chops down at the wounded savage following through with a shield bash. On a new one if the other goes down.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Chi T'reignial
Chi using the natural rocks for cover, Chi watches the old woman, but can't make out what she is doing. Instead she takes careful aim at the savage holding Sasha back. Gwen, lets try and free Sasha, then might be able to get her pet to attack that old woman. Chi then moves behind the rocks ....
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Longbow attack 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 19 with bless and Gelik (31 arrows left.) Maybe 1 more if you give higher ground.
Longbow damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Stealth 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 moving behind the rocks.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
The savage leader moves closer into the melee, and prepares himself to step into the gap Tun'ada and Marcus are making with a bloodthirsty howl and a rattle of his scimitar on his shield.
Marcus's blade arcs through his wounded opponent, sending the cannibal staggering back before slamming his shield into the savages face. With a horrid sound of the cannibals nose and jaw breaking simultaneously, the cannibal does down screaming.
Tun'ada cuts down his foe brutally, leaving the man bleeding to death on the ground.
Chi those rocks are at the bottom of the ridge, I was just trying to put them there to show that the ridge is effectively a cliff.
Chi sends an arrow into the savage holding Sasha's rope. He howls in pain, and Sasha uses the opportunity to attempt to attempt to break the man's grip- sadly it seems the savage is too strong for her.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Aerys delivers a brutal uppercut to a cannibal's jaw, knocking him down to the ground and into unconciousness with a single well placed blow. She then takes a step back behind Savarend, attempting to not be overwhelmed.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Crit threat.
1d3 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Crit confirms.
1d3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Still shouting encouragement, Gelik draws his longsword and faces off against his much larger opponent. Despite his enthusiasm, his swordplay is found wanting.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Need to resolve Ambroze's sleep and his action, then i'll update the remainder of the round. Also need Gwen's action.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Assuming Tun'ada and Ishorou dropped their opponents thats 6 down and 2 slept pre this turns sleep. Cheer!
Just edited Tun'ada's feedback in to make it clear. Going to hold fire on Ishorou and Dimorphodon's action until I know where the sleep has been dropped etc. Ambroze your best target is likely the three savages near Aerys.
Gwenyth
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Yeah, Gwen has no idea what that shaman woman is doing...
Chi, ég heyri að tala, en ég hef ekki hugmynd um hvað þú ert að segja ... ég ætla að reyna að koma í veg fyrir gamla konu frá að gera lengur steypu.
Gwen trains her crossbow on the old crone, waiting to see her begin casting, at which point she intends to bury a crossbow bolt as deep into her as she can.
I'll move to AH24, as well, if that's possible.
Holding my standard to fire on casting. Sorry for the havoc that will play on initiative...maybe.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
With the -4 from range penalties... The crit confirms. Barely. I'll roll the extra damage for you.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
+ initial damage of 7= 15 damage.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
A crossbow bolt flies through the air as if guided by the divines themselves, slamming into the old woman's torso. Instinctively clutching her arms to the horrific wound, the spirit guides spell fizzles.
Congratulations, i'll tell you what you disrupted later. Shes still standing, but clearly suffering from her multiple wounds.
Ambroze
Round Two:
Ambroze finishes casting his spell, targeting its burst to affect the two cannibals remaining with Sasha and Jask while leaving the two castaways unaffected. Will DC 14 negates.
His spell complete, Ambroze glances toward the old woman spirit guide on the opposite side of the ravine.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
"Shoot her!" Ambroze cries, pointing to the old woman. "She's casting a summoning spell!"
Seeing Gwen's arrow strike true, the gnome scholar reloads his crossbow and sends a bolt flying toward the old woman. (Move action to load crossbow; Standard action to fire)

They have been raging since they acted so their will save got better.
The savage guarding Jask succumbs to Ambroze's spell, but the savage restraining Sasha resists the spell once more.
A final crossbow bolt thuds into the old woman, and she collapses from her multiple wounds dealt from incredible range.
Ishorou aka DM AK
Ishorou fights on the defensive, using his advanced sword techniques to keep the rusty scimitar at bay. Eventually, Ishorou sees an opening after a particularily cunning parry and launches an incredible riposte that beheads his attacker- the first sure kill of the battle. Emboldened by his kill, Ishorou snarls in fury at the savage leader and moves to engage him.

The savage attacking Gelik continues to fight in the duel, neither he nor Gelik gaining any advantage in their duel.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Shifting their positions, two cannibals flank Marcus, one stepping over the fallen body of his comrade and the other surging forward to stab Marcus from behind. A rusty scimitar plunges through Marcus' armour and into his ribs.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Hit vs Marcus
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
A third cannibal abandons throwing javelins at those on the ridge and also charges Marcus, while his nearby ally charges at the deadly Ishorou. Marcus is struck once more in thearm, while Ishorou is able to parry the cannibals blow.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Hit vs Marcus
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d4 ⇒ 2
The savages at the other end of the bridge surge into action- two of them run across the bridge at full pelt. Even over the din of battle, the bridge groans onimously at such weight. The rest of the savages on that side drag their spirit guide into cover behind one of the bridge supports and are clearly attempting to stabilise her wounds.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
2d8 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
Two more savages brace themselves to run across the bridge next round. The savage holding onto Sasha is relieved by one of his comrades crossing the bridge, and takes the opportunity to run forward and hurl a javelin at Ishorou- the weapon falling short once more.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The spirit guide appears to have been fed a potion, but she does not emerge from out behind cover. Those on the ridge have a limited view of her, but she appears to be casting once more.
Mage Armour
Sasha's pet swoops down in a blaze of reddish purple, but fails to strike the cannibal who threw a javelin at Ishorou. It lines itself up to attack Sasha's handler next round.

Marcus Alanto
I'm down 11hp and Tun'ada 3hp. Think those are our only wounds? Frankly, I'm relieved.
Edit Gwen if you want to heal this turn (and obviously you might have something better in mind) you may want to delay until after the leader to get Ishorou as well assuming he is still in range with his 5' step.
Ambroze
Round Three:
Ambroze steps over next to Gwen (square AI-24) and casts his Daze cantrip on the savage flanking Marcus (savage AH-20).
Move action to square AI-24; Standard action to cast Daze on savage AH-20 - victim is unable to take any actions for 1 round, but does not take a penalty to AC. Will DC 13 negates.

Steeling her gaze on the red-haired leader, Gwen points at him, and barks sharply in Celestial.

Standard Action: Cause Fear (DC 15)
Move Action: Reload Crossbow.
Ishorou aka DM AK
OK I'd say that counts as better. Fights not over yet but critting the spirit guide and fearing the leader has to put Gwen in commanding position for MVP.
No AOO for Ishorou?
For some reason i'd moved the leader 5 feet away from Ishorou on my map.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Ishorou's blow is barely deflected by the savage leader as he flees.
Marcus Alanto
Bleeding from multiple wounds, Marcus puts up a wall of steel between himself and the three adjacent savages. He grits his teeth in worry as Ishorou advances alone to meet the savage leader but this turns to elation as Gwen's magic takes hold and he flees.
By the gods you might actually survive this after all. A bit of luck and the bastard might run his men straight off the ravine.
Lets keep it tight and take them down. No mercy!
Fighting defensively he slashes out at the tribesmen in front (the non-daze targetted one adjacent to Tun'ada) and steps in place beside Ishorou and Tun'ada.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Tun'ada and Marcus cut down another savage between them, Marcus stepping over the fallen to move away from his other two assailants. Savarend wounds the cannibal in front of him, but the savage remains standing.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The savage Ambroze cast his magic upon is just barely able to keep his senses and remain attacking, too deep into his rage to succumb to the enchantment.
Ishorou aka DM AK
Ishorou disengages from the combat, the savages scimitar meeting only air as Ishorou melts away. Moving swiftly to flank the cannibal attacking Aerys, Ishorou is dealt a nasty slashing wound in passing from another cannibal as he positions himself to strike the foe attacking Aerys in the back.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Miss vs Ishorou
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Crit threat AOO on Ishorou...
