I let out a deep sigh as I pull my picks back and replace them on my belt, before putting the lockbox back into my backpack. I look to Felixian, "It's a tough lock, I think we will need the key for it ... or wait until I have had a little more practice." With that I stand up and brush myself down with my hands, an upset look on my face. I look around, "Are we ready to carry on then? I'd like to get away from this place soon."
Felixian One-Eared
@GM: what about the box's hinges? Would it be easier to just pry them off?
Rishkarri
Rishkarri mewls to Razowclaw, and the leopard follows her as she rejoins the others. She watches the others, silent. She still hasn't said a word.
Shilara
Shilara grunts as she re-slings her bow. The pain in her arm is almost unbearable, but she says nothing. She knows there were those worse off than her. "Just please, lets not go too fast.. Its not that I don't want to get to the village but..." she motions at her bad arm.
Nyxalia
Once the wild woman has finished with her carving, I start to walk in the direction that we were originally (towards the village).
Moving on.
Felixian One-Eared
Felixian walks with Nyx, staying protectively in front of her. He also keeps an eye on the snake woman. she's pretty badly injured...hopefully there are no more predators nearby...
Shanosuke
Things seem to be getting a bit slow, but one of you is pushing forward so I will move this along.
After getting what you can from the dead raptors, you press on.
You travel for much of the day and manage to avoid anymore encounters.
It is getting late and it is time to set up camp.
Survival DC 15 to find the safest campsite in the area.
Then you need to decide weather to have a fire or not, and who will be on watch.
Thanquol
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"This looks like a good area. We should probably not have a fire tonight. It might attract unwanted attention, and I don't think we could survive another attack. That being said we should probably have a watch with the healthiest of us working with the most wounded for watching out. Maybe like this."
Assuming 8 hours of sleep for everyone
Hr 0-2 Rishkarri & Shilara
Hr 2-4 Shilara & Felixian
Hr 4-6 Felixian & Nix
Hr 6-10 Nix & Thanqoul
Hr 10-12 Thanqoul & Rishkarri
Hr 12-14 Shilara & Felixian
Shilara
Shilara nods. "Sounds good to me... As long as I can rest... There should at least be a little bit of light so we can see, we dont want to be completely caught off guard..."
Shilara props herself up against a tree, wincing at the pain.
Felixian One-Eared
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
@Thanquol: "I agree: this is a good spot to camp. And the watch schedule is fine with me. Do you have enough time to do your magicky stuff? I don't know how it works, but I remember hearing something about special prep time or whatnot."
@All: "When I'm out in the jungle overnight, I often sleep in the trees. Won't do anything against the big monsters, but we'll be out of reach of the raptors and other small dinosaurs. I have rope for those unskilled at climbing. Is this acceptable?
Nyxalia
I look to the healing man, "That sounds good to me too, some rest may lessen the pain from these wounds too." I look to Felixian and smile, "Not to mention it's more comfortable, right brother?"
Thanquol
Whoops, just realized I made a mistake with the times. Sorry about that, but this was the original plan.
Hr 0-2 Rishkarri & Shilara
Hr 2-4 Shilara & Felixian
Hr 4-8 Felixian & Nix
Hr 8-10 Nix & Thanqoul
Hr 10-12 Thanqoul & Rishkarri
Hr 12-14 Shilara & Thanqoul
Nyxalia
Thanquol, even though it is only a minor change I can see the value of it. It means you get your 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Which means you get your spells ... VERY handy. Do we have anyone in this group who can actually heal, other than the Infernal Healing?
Felixian One-Eared
Rishkarri can cast cure light wounds, but I think we'll have to convince her first. :-) I'll take one level of Cleric (Erastil or Gozreh) at the earliest convenience. Weather domain gives me a ranged debuff, Growth subdomain gives me swift action enlarge person a couple times a day, and I'll get a couple channels. Sound like a plan?
Shilara
I hope so. I only have 1 hit point! I should have 3 by morning but thats only a little more than a 10th of my health.
Rishkarri
Rishkarri can heal, but she's more likely to want to keep Razorclaw healthy above all others. If you can convince her in-character, go for it. :p Also, the watch plan looks good to me.
The Druid watches the others carefully, then takes a seat, pacing around a few times first to flatten the grass. Razorclaw does the same, before settling into her lap to sleep. Rishkarri nods to the snake woman, watching her closely.
Sorry for the late post. Was my birthday yesterday, so I was pretty busy.
Shilara
Shilara nods back to the wild lady. The pain in her eyes and body posture apparent. She says nothing and tries to focus on something else.
Nyxalia
Hearing the sound I jump down from the tree I am in and go to wake Felixian up while Thanquol wakes another. "Company, big company ... about a minute away in that direction coming to us."
Acrobatics (DC 15) : 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Thanquol
Thanqoul quickly moves away from his station, and walks over to Shilara. He shakes he until she wakes and holds up one finger for silence.
"There is something coming we had better get ready for it."
Shilara
Shilara still feels like crap as she is shaken awake. She looks up at Thanquol and nods silently. Perhaps we need to hide? I cannot fight in this condition... She begins to search for a good place to hide.
Felixian One-Eared
Felixian instantly snaps awake when Nyx shakes him. He listens for a moment. "It's moving fast, and we don't have much time. Best to take cover and wait for it to pass." With that, he looks for a good hiding spot, preferably near Nyx and the snake woman. they're both injured... gotta keep an eye on them...
Nyxalia
Once Felixian is stirred I go over to Rishkarri and gently nudge her shoulder, "Company, we need to move!" While I wait to see if the wild woman wakes I look to Felixian, "Up or down?"
Felixian One-Eared
Felixian points to where Shilara's hiding. "We need to stay close to her. She's the most tempting target currently, and she won't last long in a fight in her current state."
Nyxalia
I nod at Felixian and nudge Rishkarri again to wake her, this time a little harder making sure that she will get up, "Wake up!" With that I rush over to where Rishkarri is hiding and crouch down beside her, trying to remain hidden.
Stealth : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Felixian One-Eared
Felixian crouches next to Shilara. "Don't worry; I'll keep you safe. This is nothing I haven't dealt with before."
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Shilara
Shilara nods and crouches as well.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Felixian One-Eared
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Thanquol
After seeing Shilara hide herself Thanqoul focuses on the task of hiding in the foliage.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Shilara
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Shilara begins to quietly hide herself in the underbrush.
Nyxalia
Survival : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 (Typical!)
Rishkarri
Rishkarri starts awake as the cat-woman nudges her, hand flying to her scimitar. Seeing who it is, she simply nods in response, rousing her companion and also slinking into the foliage.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Razorclaw stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Shanosuke
Felixian seems to be the only one really at risk but thank goodness the campsite is upwind and the dino rolled poorly.
As you all bunker down and hide yourselves, you hear the heavy footsteps and breathing of some kind of huge dinosaur.
You can risk a peak but you need a stealth check and perception to do so. If you have darkvision you can make it out without the perception check.
You see a Carnatosaurus sniffing out this area. This huge bipedal horned predator is looking for a late night snack.
If no one risks a peek it will move on for the night.
Shilara
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Shilara looks over her shoulder to see what the beast is. She shudders when she does, wishing she hadn't. She stays perfectly still until the creatre moves on.
Shanosuke
When you peak out, the monster snaps it's massive head in your direction. It stares for a moment with it's nostrils flaring as it sniffs the air. Thankfully, you are up wind and the beast doesn't smell you.
After a moment, it moves on to search other places away from you.
The beast lingers for just a moment before it stomps away. You are able to rest the remainder of the night without incident.
The next day comes, please consume rations.
You begin your second day of travel to the town that was mentioned earlier.
Perceptions have been rolled. The spoiler bellow shows who has succeeded.
You hear the sounds of rustling and some discussion going on not far from the trail. The language isn't common.
It is a primitive elven dialect and you are pretty sure they are discussing what to do with an issue they are having that has something to do with moving forward. The details are vague as you cannot make out all the words and they aren't formal. You do know they aren't talking about your group.
Felixian One-Eared
Felixian turns to the rest of the group and whispers, "I hear something up ahead. Sounds like multiple individuals. I don't recognize the language."
Shilara
Shilara turns her head to hear better. "It's some sort of ancient Elven. I can only make out a bit of it... But they havent seen us yet. They seem to be having some sort of problem that is inhibiting them from proceeding on..." She looks around at her comrades. "I might be able to communicate with them... somewhat... But if they are having trouble proceeding, then their information could be useful. If we dont talk to them, we should be on our toes."
Nyxalia
I remain hidden not saying a word, waiting to see what everyone else decides.
Thanquol
Thanqoul seems a bit surprised.
"Elven, here? Maybe we should get a look at these elves before we talk to them. If they look harmless enough then let's speak to them, but if they seem to be violent let's avoid them."
Thanqoul thinks to himself before remembering Shilara's wounds.
"Wait, you are still wounded. I have been able to prepare my spells, so why don't I heal you right now."
If Shilara agrees Thanqoul will cast Infernal Healing upon her.
Shilara
Shilara nods at Thanquol's request. "Much obliged. But I don't think it was Elven as we know it today. It is primitive... I don't understand it completely, just the gist..."
Thanquol
Thanqoul looks at the other members of the group.
"We may not be in the best of shape if these elves are hostile. Maybe we should leave them alone, and move on."
Rishkarri
Rishkarri shrugs indifferently. She doesn't say anything, but impatience is evident in her mannerisms.
GM, did I get time to prepare spells?
Nyxalia
I nod to Thanquol, he is the one to heal our wounds and if he says leave, then we leave. With that I start to crawl away from the voices and once I am far enough away I will stand and retreat with everyone.
Felixian One-Eared
"I agree with Thanquol. Caution and not taking unnecessary risks are what will keep us alive in the jungle." Felixian begins to retreat as well.
