"This appears prepared," Yumna says as she collects the finely made scimitar and the scroll. "I take no comfort in finding their gifts survived when the deliverers did not. However, I shall make use of them."

She heads to the stairs and waits for the others before proceeding.

My apologies for the delay, our accomodations got all messed up and I had to spend a whole day trying to fix them while abroad, from really shoddy wi fi.

Theoden carries a heavy crossbow, and is currently holding, although not wielding a tower shield.

"Remarkable!" exclaims Qaji as he finds his own package. "Who do you suppose left these here for us? Someone preparing the tests here, no doubt."

Theoden nods but puzzles a bit. "That creature with the shields seems a lot more lethal than those pillow pits. I sure hope we find somebody still alive."

"Let us see where these stairs lead," Yumna suggests.

"The stairs sounds fine." The Slitheren Kid replies to Yumna.

I hope there's no tigers. I Mean tigers ARE big I've heard...

He looks over the stairs for traps.

I'm headed back to California first thing tomorrow morning. Going to be our of contact for about 36 hours from this post. Feel free to bot Theoden as necessary. Start with heavy crossbow and follow with unarmed strikes as appropriate.

You tavel down the stairs then about 10 feet to come back up some stairs into a room. This small chamber is mostly empty, save for the body of a villager sprawled in the center.

The Slitheren Kid steps over and then stabs at the beetle with his rapier.

Theoden steps up and tries to squish the giant bug with his boot.

Qaji shoot a arrow at the beetle but the beetle side steps it easily.
Theoden thinking this is just a big bug tries to step on it but misses.
Slithren is able ti skewer the bug as he stabs it with his rapier.
Yumna connects and she tries to slice the thing in two.

The beetle side steps and spews out acid.

In a desperate attempt to get the beetle before it gives him Theoden gives it a vicious stomp.

"Shall we try this door here?" Yumna indicates the southern door.

Note that north is to the right on the map.

As theoden opens that door easily it opens into a hallway
