Back in Absalom, Garduk is planning to buy a couple of big items that he hopes will bolster his defenses and give better options for attacks beyond his crossbow and summoning creatures to fight for him. But he knows those expenditures will leave him nearly tapped out, and he used a few scrolls that he would like to replace if he can.

So while he is in the Dark Archive to make his report on what he learned in the race for the Chalice and from the Sight if the Cyclops, he volunteers to work in the book repair department for a few hours to earn some extra pocket money.

@Chaorbit - the Chronicle looks fine, thanks. One question: the wand of Magic Missile is listed under Subtier 4-5 - does Garduk have access to it even though he’s level 3, because we played up?

Haven't figured out all my purchases - but I'll definitely be getting a bow, a pile of arrows for various DRs and a potion of fly!

I'm a little bit conflicted for when Brayne hits level 5, I'm definitely going to get eldritch heritage feat and retrain my some stuff. But I'm not sure if to take the naga bloodline, to get free invisibility, or ghoul, which at level 7 gives my claws a chance to paralyze the opponent.

Anyone got any thoughts? Leaning towards ghoul at the moment since the paralyze ability is a function of con anyway.

Ghoul does tie in with your character really well, seems like it would fit better than naga.

Should I be marking off a few days of trail rations for the travel time? I think Garduk bought 10 days of extra rations that Kulga is carrying for him.

Oh yes. good point, my character sheet still says 10 days of rations.

You guys sold me on the Ghoul bloodline.
In prep, I'll be spending 5PP and 200gp retraining my extra rage feat (bloody bite) to Skill focus:Stealth in the upcoming scenario.

At level 5 i'll be retraining my beast totem lesser to spirit totem lesser, giving me dark batlike wisp! So stoked!

I’m working on Garduk’s shopping list (beyond the Magic Missile wand and replacing the scrolls used in the last scenario), and getting ideas from the excellent PFS Items that can save you in 2017 thread.

Good point on scrolls! We should probably share the burden. Since I have access to divine spells, I should probably get a few useful scrolls, like lesser restoration perhaps.

Yeah, scooping up a scroll with 5 instances of Lesser Restoration is a good 2 PP purchase.

Just noticed that identifying the elixir of hiding lets me check off another box on my faction journal card!

So I need some advice - I can pay cash for a scroll with Levitate on it a couple of times (Garduk can cast it as long as he doesn't roll a natural 1 on the caster level check) - or pay 2PP for a scroll with the spell on it 5 times. BUT Garduk has just accumulated 8PP (I may have a little wand-buying problem, but I'm working on it!) - which means he has enough to cover half the cost of a Raise Dead, and could probably scrape the rest together by selling all of his gear in case of emergency. Should I save the gold and spend the prestige now, or spend the gold and keep the points in reserve?

Depends what you're saving gold for. I typically try to save gold for melee characters since they require expensive weapons. For natural attackers, or magic users, I tend to splurge the gold and save the PP.
Brayne needs to save his PP for his retraining. So I play to buy my scrolls with cold hard gold.

Do you have any thing in particular you're saving up gold for Garduk? If not, save the PP, they can come in very useful everything it has to offer.

Thanks, Brayne, that's a helpful way to look at it. Garduk is looking ahead to buying a handy haversack (to lighten his load and make it easier to access scrolls) and a 1st level runestone of power (MOAR SPELLZ) to let him reuse spell slots; each will cost 2,000 gp, which is more than Garduk is likely to have on hand after adding what he has now to what he earns from his next chronicle. Once he makes it to level 4, those purchases become much easier.

All that leads me to the conclusion that Garduk should just pay cash for the scroll. Thanks for giving me a good way to frame the question.
