Here is where the game is going to start in
Of all the cities of the Mindflayer cities, Xtclopt is one of the smallest. Xtclopt is located very close to the surface, sometimes known as the City of Snow Under Earth. Xtclopt is a tiered city, at the top the city is home to Frost Giants, Ettins, Orcs, Ogres, Goblins and Gnolls. The top of the city is known as the Scum of Snow District, which is little more than a series shanty towns across hundreds of tunnels that reach the surface. This is where the poorest or dishonoured Mindflayers live. The next layer down is the Crystal Covers, a district where humans, elves, drow, halflings, gnomes and centaurs. No Mindflayer lives in the Crystal Covers. The Crystal Cover is known as such for it is the top of the inner city caves, almost always covered of snow. The Mindflayers use the Crystal Covers to grow slowly and in a control manner many different crystals, many which are used to enhance their psychic powers. The next layer down is the Upper Sewers. Here is where troll, ogre, Otyguns and hill giants. The Upper Sewers where made through great ingenuity, and incredible precision engineering. Huge pipes and tunnels run throw the entirety of the Upper Sewers. They were built to insulate the city from the total cold from the surface. It is also an easy solution to the problem of where the sewage would have to go. The next layer down is where almost all of the Mindflayers live, as well as most of the creatures that are in good stead with them. This is layer is called the Law Caves. Decadence fills the layer. Every Mindflayer in even a neutral stand has a lavish home in this layer. The last layer is known as the Forge. Here Fire Giants, dwarfs, Deurgar, Salamanders and derrow toil to build all the things that their Mindflayer masters might require.

Myron |

Ungunreealth (Myron) started his life like any other Illithid. He spawned as a tadpole and placed in the Elder Brain pool. Being smarter and stronger than most of his spawnmates he devoured them over time. When the time came he was plucked from the pool and placed in the ear of a particularliy intelligent and powerful Damphir wizard. The spawn herders were curious as to how this would affect the final product (Ilithid), or even if it would survive. It did. When the metamorphosis was complete Ungunreealth took his humanoid form. In form an funciton he was much like any other of his race, save for a small retractable leech like mouthpart. It was found that he could survive equally well on brains or blood. Given his vast intellect, even when compared to others of his race, Ungunreealth excelled in wizadry.
Ungunreeth had many lesser creatures assist him with his studies. They lacked the mouthparts to properly pronouncce his name. After an exaustive time of it he desded to give himself a nickname, Myron. It's a quaint thing that other species do. Lesser species, but he felt it was simpler than having to murder his assistants every few days. In time everyone began calling him that, even other illithids. As it was a name he gave himself he was fine about it.
He became an accomplished item crafter as a means to increase his wealth. Through his own personal research over time he even discovered how to tap his blood and increase his power. Lately though he seems to be at an impass. he can't quite figure out how to uncover the next arcane mystery. After a bit of searching... (Begin Plot here). ;-)

Blepxeblopty |

Do we get -2 on our leadership score for being cruel, or do we have to be exceptionally cruel (by twisted mindflayer standards) to get that penalty?
Blepxeblopty was sitting in his stuffed armchair, in front of the fireplace in his private quarters. The only one allowed in there were the butler, and Minion, of course. He caressed a roll of dried tobacco leaves with his facial tentacles, inhaling the intoxicating smell. It was a bad habit he had picked up when he was younger and worked with the human slavemasters at the food farms, but he knew that he could quit at any time. Only the weak willed suffered from the drugs addiction - he smiled a little in the gloomy light - he just didn't want to quit.
As tobacco smoke mingled with thin wisps of smoke from the firewood, Blepxeblopty allowed himself to loose himself in thoughts. He thought about work. The new workforce seemed to shape up just fine. He wasn't as involved in that anymore as he used to, but he liked to oversee the process sometimes. He thought about politics. There was talk of a tax-increase again. Sometimes he wished he could turn his impressive mind-breaking powers on the council so that they would leave honest merchants alone... *sigh* He thought about all the mundane things that bugged him.
The haunting melody of the organ snapped him out of his thoughts. He was fairly sure who was playing, since there was only one other in the house that was allowed to touch the ancient instrument. And if he was wrong, he knew Minion has on its way to make sure, as it always did. It was playing one of his own older pieces - an ode to the beauty of Xtclopt. About one minute later, Minions armoured boots echoed in the hallway outside and the door opened carefully. "I looked into it" it said and respectfully closed the door. The music was still going strong, into the second verse, meaning that the half-elf was the one playing. He remembered the first time it had tried to play. He had found out of course, and had Minion whip to the bones. When it could sit up without fainting, about a week later, he had started teaching it how do play properly - it was stupid to waste the talent it had shown. He shrugged - he needed a walk to clear his head.
His residence is located in the upper levels of Law Caves, but there is a thin, steep spiral staircase leading up thru the severs into Crystal Cover. In the Crystal Cover the staircase connects to a small office, were Blepxeblopty takes care of all the businesses that is too loud for the lower reaches. The occasional scream is usually tolerated in the Law Caves, but some year ago his neighbour complained about losing his beauty naps - and Blep obliged, for he is a good and caring mindflayer. As a added bonus, the connection allows his servants and himself discreet transportation between the layers.
He choose the upper exit, and took upon himself the shape of a nondescript human when he left the office - disappearing into the crowds of Crystal Covers.
So, an introduction/story part so that one could get a feel for Blep. What do you think ? Too dark? Too light-hearted? Anything else =)? Will try and write a more formal background soon.

VecThan |

Background story done....
Vecthan(originally Methycor), an ambitions Ithillid, having learned to use a bow, he decided he could make money killing for money. The range and silence of the bow helped him to kill without being detected telepathically. After his first few successes, there seemed there was no shortage of work. After years of work, he got his opportunity for his big score. He was hired to take out Crimelord, Gyxelca. Moments before his kill, he was spotted by aerial guards. He barely escaped, but after killing a few guards. Gyxelca placed a huge bounty on his head dead or alive. Vecthan knew(or hopes) that Gyxelca will not mess with the church. So he joined the church Vecna and changed his name. The church learning of his skill with the a bow, trained them to be one of their inquisitors, to bring Vecna's justice to those who would wrong them. Only 2-3 people in church know his identity, and if he can figure a good way to kill them with out throwing suspicion his way he will. So far he has successfully hidden here, and kind of enjoys the dispersing Vecna's justice.

Brother Haruhito Kurosawa |

Background for Brother Haruhito:
The host he was given was of Tian stock, and when he merged with it, he absorbed much of its memories, and personality, even going so far as to adopt its name. Recognising his shortcomings, Haruhito made the canny decision to do his best to make himself indispensable to more senior Mindflayers, studying the religions of the humans, and adopting one of their deities, Abadar, Lord of Commerce, as a patron. Although this meant that he was considered a little... odd... in certain circles, it did enable him to more easily 'relate' to the human stock, and greased wheels in other sectors, where his knowledge of commerce, market trends, and trade tariffs made him extremely useful.
Although little more than a glorified accountant and stock manager, Haruhito is relatively content with his largely risk-free existence.

Lloyd Jackson |

Just curious, is recruiting still open? If it is, I would love to play a monk/Illithid Savant. (or just a monk if you don't like the savant)
Basic idea, *(as yet unnamed) wishes to perfect himself, and that is all thank you, unless you have a an interesting brain to sell. For an illithid this is a perfectly worthy pursuit, and * seems different only in caring more a bit more about brains and less about trinkets than is usual. But * has a deep and terrible secret: he wants the sun back! In his youth, he had the the good fortune of finding a nymph for sale, and promptly bought her. What wonders would this rare creature's brain contain? Always a inquisitive and impressionable soul, * partook with abandon and felt... a longing for the sun, and for green growing things, and... what IS this madness?! And so began *'s decent into something that is not quite madness, but not quite sanity either. You see, once that door was opened, it couldn't be readily shut, and bits of the creatures *'s consumed have become a part of him, leaving him a rather confused individual.
Does he really want to beat his chest and participate in a wild orgy? No, no, that must be yesterday's orc snack. Why do I know the birthday of a human female child? Oh yes, I ate her mother a while ago, best not eat the child then, last time it led to a ferocious headache. (A bit like Echo from Dollhouse, if you've seen it. I'm fascinated by the idea of what would happen if you really could take pieces of another creature's mind and make them a part of you. Could you really gain a creature's perform skill without feel that creature's love of music? The bardic knowledge also provides a good explanation/rationale for a character acting odd. Who knows what little bits are bubbling to the surface?)
