Velden strongly councils against anything other than 'hard' on the mission board.

Once the spoils the former mayor had are locked up, Velden counts out a third of it and splits it up amongst the townfolks and the newcomers. The rest he locks up in the safe again (after putting in a new combination) and calls Annara and Claptrap to the side.

"Ok, so, can you put together a list of people, their skills, and who we can buy things from? I'd like to see about getting some building supplies to repair the buildings in town so everyone has a place to live." He asks the replicant, figuring she's got a spreadsheet in her head somewhere to keep track of that kind of stuff. "Claptrap, you know the area around here. You can help her with that, right? Maybe we can fit a cleaning and polishing into the budget for you. If things go well, maybe even a new paintjob. I think you'd look good green, or maybe blue."

Velden will go along on any 'hard' missions they want to try, if no-one objects. Otherwise, he'll see what he can do about building a chapel instead.


Taunk hesitates to accept the Fyrestone mission now, finally understanding the implications of the orange triangle. Instead he takes a look at the "We Be Goblins" bounty. He had no love for the creatures but they did have a tendency to hoard random gadgets. If he wanted to find tools; that was his best bet right now.

I am pretty sure Gabe might have something to sell you, if you pester her enough. And if you ever need something fixed you can always find me in my mighty shop on the west over there, and you don't even have to pay me!

Claptrap and Aannra:
The cobblers are just that, a father and daughter who make shoes.

Barbeck McCarmeck, the dwarf, does not run a shop where you can necessarily buy anything but has many different tools and objects in his 'shop'.

There is no communal food storage. The Cobblers have enough scag meat for the next few days but they are rationing it right now to last the week. The mayor's house has a well equipped kitchen with enough food for about two months for one person.

Building supplies? There is plenty of scrap around, but if you want something other than scrap metal let me know. There is plenty of stone but it will be grueling work to make bricks of it.

Five waves goodbye to the dwarf, and exits out the ground level door saying, "Don't get into too much trouble."

He moves out and goes to Aannra, "So sticking around with Velden I guess? If you need my help you know how to get a hold of me. I am going to head back out to Rebirth. It appears no applicants came this way."

Velden looks at Five. "Come back when the town's not about to starve to death, we'll talk. Still not thrilled about that last thing I worked for you on. Lot of good people died due to a lack of up front information."

Then he turns to Annaara and Claptrap. "The mayor's house has enough food for one person for 2 months. Divide it up amongst everyone, make sure they stay on short rations until we get some more scag meat." He clears his throat, and bangs on the wall. "Alright everyone, we have food enough for everyone for a half a week or so. We need to sort out the food situation first. I suggest a skag hunt to get some raw meat in. There's a bounty for that anyway, so we can kill two birds with one stone."

I think the GM said we don't need to play out a skag hunt, with this many people, bringing home a dozen skags shouldn't be hard or all that dangerous. A dozen would provide food for a few weeks. At least, meat. Vegies are a different story.

Velden turns to claptrap. "Tin, we need to work on hydroponics. See what you can find tonight in the scrap yard in the way of piping and tubing. Check the wreckage outside as well." Velden turns back to the group. "I also suggest before we go skag hunting, we salvage everything we can off the blown up transport and crashed buggies."

Again GM, I hope we don't need to RP out the salvage? Just piling up supplies/etc in the town.

Five shrugs at Velden, "It is not my fault that they did not ask and did not scout out the area. They never asked for my advice."

Then he says a few things under his voice, forgetting that Velden as wonderful hearing.

Perception DC 20:
"The bunch of thieves and murderers..."


As the group heads out to hunt scags a process is quickly made. Using Velden and those with range to draw in the scags, killing half before they get to the group then the melee oriented of the group finish off the scags. The scags in this region are fairly weak and none are elemental based.

Everything in the piles of wreckage outside is looked through and anything that looks like it is not totally destroyed brought into the town. Plenty of scrap metal but not much else.

Velden RP is not necessary, just prompts like you just did! If you want to do a perception check you might find something more useful in the wreckage. Everyone do a perception check while scavenging and remind me if you have any feats or traits that give you a bonus of some kind.

Velden:

On the Skag Hunt, you saw a few interesting things.

Ethos is of very few words but he seems to be able to communicate with Aannra with some other source of ability.

Some strange marks are on the wall next to one of the skag dens. Likely Eridian.

One of the sliced in half scags appears to have swallowed a few round objects. Upon closer inspection you find some bullets used for slings, an adamantium one that is magical, several metal ones that are magical, and a few silver ones.

On the salvage
You find many useful items that appear slighty damaged but easily fixed with a mending spell: A purple short sword, a blue dagger, a blue scimitar, a flashing throwing axe, a shield generator which can be activated 3/day to give the spell shield, and a circlet of persuasion.

A whole slew of items for salvage parts, equaling 1,200 gp. The last thing you find is a tablet. Once you turn it on, you see it is a dossier of the passengers on the flight, including the unscheduled drop of the cargo, and the secret compartment with the experiment within. Payment will be sent to the pilots once the experiment is attained.

Velden gathers up the stuff he found, and puts it in the mayor's house. He also points the salvage in the area, for future use. "I think we can build up some houses out of the stuff we salvaged, and also fix some broken stuff around here."

He pulls the experiment Not sure which one that is, I think it's Tam? aside for a private talk.

"Ok, all you lot from the down'd ship, and you too Tin. There was an experiment on the cargo pod, or on the shuttle. They dropped the pod, so it may be the experiment was on the ship itself, and they dropped the pod so they didn't have to deal with it. Someone paid to have something on the ship, and the rest of us were expendable. Personally, I find that highly insulting, and I personally want to have a long talk with this person, and the shuttle pilots, involving questions and arrows in various orifices, slowly pushed in. So, we need to figure out if it's still in the cargo pod, if it got out, or if someone took it from the cargo pod while we were distracted. Five, get your butt over here, you had a better view from the ridgeline. Yes, I saw you, no I didn't see any reason to wave at you at the time."

He asks, doing his best to be diplomatic, not his strong suit. "Someone paid the pilots to drop the pod to get an experiment. I want to know who, why, where, and what their pain resistance is."

during the hunt for scags Michel mostly let's balto colect them and consequently doesn't get as many as he would if he actually tried, but when he goes through the salvage he put quite a bit of actual effort into the search.
Michel is also sure to cast purify food and drink over each one, not wanting to risk the likelihood that one or several of them were carrying some kind of disease.

Velden wasn't there when Claptrap found him, and nobody introduced him directly as someone from the cargo pod, so he thought he/I was a local.

Velden looks the man over. "Oh, you're the experiment? I thought you were a local. So, you're the reason the cargo pod was put down here. I wonder... who would pay enough for pilots to crap their careers away to get you? Whoever it is, you must be valuable. That means we can expect more bounty hunters coming after you."

On the salvage...
You find many useful items that appear slighty damaged but easily fixed with a mending spell: A purple kama, a blue gauntlet, a yellow glowing sling, a shield generator which can be activated 1/day to give the spell aid, and a ring of counterspells.

A whole slew of items for salvage parts, equaling 1,000 gp. The last thing you find is a class mod for bards, +1 on DCs.

Rolling:

I have a new idea for rolling. In situations like this where i could do 15 different rolls, because i dont really know what i am looking for, why dont i just roll once for each action or set of actions and then apply that to each skill.
So for:
Salvaging: 1d20 ⇒ 9
And apply that to my perception, Appraise, Craft (Mechanics), Disable Device and K (Engineering, Explosives) modifier.
Sledj's stuff: 1d20 ⇒ 8
For K (Engineering) and spellcraft modifiers.
Construction Work: 1d20 ⇒ 5
For Craft (Mechanics), K (Engineering, Explosives) and Prof (Maintainance) modifiers.

Basically rolling for each action rather than for each individual skill. Or do you want me to roll for everything? Or additional rolls for specific things?

Claptrap joins in with the salvage team, but not the hunting team, and sets out looking for, well, just about anything...
While picking up anything that might be of use, loose screws, a fender that could be used as a mailbox, a car seat to replace the couch in the Cobblers house, a claw replacement for Thred the ex-Mayor... Anything. Claptrap does keep an eye out in particular for any car parts for the buggy in his shed, piping that could be used for hydroponics (and he starts tearing into truck engines looking for hoses and piping. So what if the water is a little oily, that just adds extra flavour!) and of course, any tools, books, papers or anything that might explode....
