John wakes up with the smell of smoke.
The window frame is clearing a blaze now. It doesn't seem to ahve spread - yet. the basemsent is stone, mortar, and dirt. The ceiling to the basement is wood. The staircase that is wooden rubble. Your recollection is the first floor was stonework.
E3 and F3 is the stairs that is mostly missing and rubble. definately not enough to use. D& is the one window that is wooden and on fire now. I 13/14 and J 13/14 is the fruit cellar with the door.I've put a few children that are still sleeping on the map, the others are packed in the fruti cellar already.
I'm having trouble getting the token tool set up on this computer, so I don't ahve the characters avatrs yet. I will need to add those when I get home.

The window continues to burn away, there is sound of screeching from outside. "Here's a present for the kiddies." as a terrified horrific sound and flaming ball of busts through the fire. Shinon arrow pierces the charred flesh of the dead cat as it flops down in F7.

Out of the dwindling inside cooking flame emerges a 3 and half foot, flaming man that stands no taller than a child. His face is elongated, his nose the like a a knife while his eyes flicker wiht crazed menace. He is holding a fiery pitchfork which he quickly flicks with his wrists.
Embers fly in Duncan's direction.

Shinon frowns, seeing the devil's skin seal up the instant it is struck, and turns his focus to the elemental instead, launching an arrow at it.

The damage is to your gear, it costs a move action to jettison the stuff. If you choose not to remove it, but to move up instead, you take the fire damage too.
Edit: you need to tell me if you removed the burning items, you would not have been able to strike the devil then. If you choose to keep the item on then your hit succeeded but you took move damge.
