"I think not. Hey, you fat blubbery sack of aboleth crap, did you hear the one about the fat skum who ate so many of his kind he turned into a bulette looking chunk of walking lipid?"
Hideous Laughter on the boss, DC 23, lasts 11 levels due to Mage Tattoo...and then naturally back the heck up from the minions as far as possible.

Don't worry fam I'll assault his flesh soon enough
Zin'Retatarianna Mor
Z launches a ball of Fire into the group of five skum.
Fire of Balls DC23: 10d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 2, 3, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4) + 10 = 42

Darius grins, " We move from the filth of Dagon to the blasphemy of Shub-Niggurath. How appropriate. I suppose it be time to end this cult like the others. "
he dashed forward whip reaching towards the nearest Skum, his whip striking from maximum range.
Grimoire you Love: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
Pain you Hate: 1d3 + 13 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 13 + (2, 3, 6, 2) = 29
Bane's Move and strike.. unless I have to charge, that works oo.. strike from 15ft away.
Sundakan
Referees: 5d20 ⇒ (9, 1, 13, 18, 15) = 56
1d2 ⇒ 1
Two of the Skum bear the brunt of the blast, one screaming as his trident heats up so much it explodes in his hand!
Darius charges in and puts the horrified Skum out of its misery.
Two of the Skum move to flank Darius, one in front, one circling around behind provoking his ire, and attack.
2d20 ⇒ (2, 17) = 19
And one actually lands a hit!
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
The fat Skum growls.
"You want fire, wench? I'll show you fire!" he cries, and a column of dark flame crashes down form the sky, right onto Zin, Sledge, and Jones.
Fire Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 1, 3) = 11
Unholy Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 3, 1) = 14
DC 20 for half damage. Zin, your Fire resistance only applies to half of this.
Darius Ral'algul
Darius lashes out with a stinging rasp along the Skum's neck.
Grimoire AoO: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
Grimoire AoO Damage: 1d3 + 13 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 13 + (6, 4, 5, 3) = 32
Not sure if that drops him or not

Jones flanks the one attacking Darius and gives it the ol' acupuncture treatment.
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39
1d6 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
I wonder if there's some Dex equivalent of Power Attack. I'd like to make better use of this crazy attack bonus.
Samuel Sledge
Darius Ral'algul
Like I said doesnt work, likely its like that so the rapier doesnt become a super weapon, though if Jones can get a Effortless lace he would be fine.
Sundakan
+12 damage isn't too shabby for a tertiary combatant. The only reason Darius' damage is any higher than yours is because 4d6 Bane is stronk.
Jones shankity shanks, but the Skum stubbornly clings to life.
The last Skum moves in and stabs at Jones...
1d20 ⇒ 12
But Jones is too good at not getting hit.
Sledge! You do not have a charge lane to the Cleric.
Samuel Sledge
Even though I can charge through friendly squares?
Jones Shei'lac
Five dudes take up a lot of space.

Reflex?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Z winces slightly from the attack, "I see."
"Not bad. Hurting me with fire is pretty impressive. But no, die." she says, firing off several lances of flame at the large Skum.
Scorching Rays: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

I have different plans of attack depending on a) if the fat man lives through critting focused scorching ray, and b) if he is a cleric or inquisitor - should be pretty easy since you need to use your holy symbol to cast if you are one. Otherwise, need to know how many minions we're dealing with.
Darius Ral'algul
Hrm, all Divine casters need it to cast to my knowledge, so you wont be able to tell in B) Two technically you go before her. as for minions there are currently 2 left
Vänne Mørkvinter
I didn't think Shamans, Oracles, Druids, Hunters, Rangers, or Paladins/Antipaladins needed it - in either case, I planned to shatter the living s*** out of his holy symbol, because no saving throw for mundane items (unless it's a magic item, all holy symbols are mundane, even though they're used to channel the divine). - plus, I can delay until right after her to see how things play out. If he dies, I'll just MM one of the minions.
Darius Ral'algul
Pretty much any Divine Spell that has a DF needs a Holy symbol.. thats universal. Nature ones use Holly or mistletoe. Other use their god's symbol. And Shatter does give a save.
Vänne Mørkvinter
I'll be damned, they must've changed that from 3.5. And it's a will? WTF is it a will?! Should be a fort, by it's description. Ugh. Nevermind.
V just magic missiles one of the minions, because f*** this nonsense.
5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 2, 3) + 5 = 21
Darius Ral'algul
Indeed, Darius really is waiting on Sledge. Then I will know what is around me. Unlike You and Zin who are not immediately in the s$+@
Samuel Sledge
Hmm. You're right.
Sledge kills the nearest normie.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
1d10 + 24 ⇒ (6) + 24 = 30

1d10 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
1d10 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27
Luckily my rolls are always good.
Samuel Sledge
Darius Ral'algul
Darius moves right upon the Skum and whips him at close proximity.
The Pain of Blasphemy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
Damage: 1d3 + 13 + 4d6 ⇒ (2) + 13 + (4, 4, 1, 2) = 26
Vänne Mørkvinter
Vänne grins. "So, you do like me! Calling people corpses is the kind approach compared to that. Let's search this place for clues, monetary items, and people to rescue!"
He blinks, and the tattoo on his arm glows, and a gray parrot flies out, his tattoo disappearing.
"This is Eclipse. Clips, help us find stuff."
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Jones Shei'lac
Jones is momentarily startled when the parrot appears.
"Ah...hello."
But then goes back to searching the room in his usual, unperturbed manner.
Take 10: 43 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ 43 + (1) + 2 = 46

The fishgold lining the walls is fairly valuable; If you were to pry it all up it would be worth 1200 gp all told.
The mace is grime-encrusted, but something about its unique design (metal tooled to look like the heads of four birds, beaks acting as the points of the mace) makes it seem important.
Does anyone have Kn. History?
Additionally, the Skum all have masterwork tridents and chain shirts (save one whose trident exploded), and the Cleric has some gear as well.
-A +4 Chain Shirt
-A Masterwork Dagger
-A +1 Amulet of Mighty Fists
-An Unholy symbol of Shub-Niggurath
-An assortment of fishgold jewelry (750 gp)
-1 potion of Cat's Grace.
Jones Shei'lac
Kn. History: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 + (1) + 2 = 28
Sundakan
Jones recognizes this mace as the Raven's Head, a powerful magial mace from deep in Ustalav's history.
It was lost during the wars against the Whispering Tyrant, flung into Lake Encarthan. It was presumed lost forever, but it seems in actuality the Skum found it.
Who's doing the Detect Magic/Spellcraft boogaloo on this one?
Jones Shei'lac
I think I still have Identify up. It's been about 4 or 5 minutes since I drank it.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 27 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 27 + (2) + 2 = 32
Welp.
Jones deduces that this powerful magical mace has both macelike and magical properties of the powerful variety.
Sundakan
Because a 32 is bad? That's enough for a CL 17 item.
...Mind you it actually ISN'T enough this time, but I'm going to assume you were smart and Took 10, since a 37 is MORE than enough to identify any magical item in the game.
As Jones turns his third eye on the mace, he finds that he is STRICKEN BLIND by the power of this aura. He stumbles back, and mercifully his vision returns after a few moments, though lingering dark spots still remain.
That brief glimpse was enough, however, to reveal the properties to him.
This is Raven's Head, a minor Artifact, and a powerful Undead slaying weapon.
To most, this is a simple +3 Undead Bane Heavy Mace, but in the hands of one who can Channel Energy, it grants the effects of Channel Smite to the wielder.
In a truly ordained Pharsmin Cleric's hands, it is even more impressive, increasing the power of that ability and the frequency of its use.
An extra +4 levels for the Feat, and 3 more uses per day on top of that. Bet you wish Azrin was still around, huh?
Jones Shei'lac
Not really. Azrin had 12 STR, and couldn't hit the broad side of the Boneyard. He'd probably poke his own eye out with this thing.
Anyway, I'll take that potion. Might try some Allocation shenanigans with it.
Darius Ral'algul
As if that mattered, Righteous Might or Divine Power Gives 2 craps.
" Like is a strong word. It would be more appropriate to say that your presence occupies the area that would be for our drooling friend there. You however are capable as well, once we get you to the surface you shall be on your way I presume. "
Vänne Mørkvinter
V's countenance almost instantly falls at Darius's comment. Something like this happens.
"Well...I guess. Wouldn't...want to disturb anything you have going. I just figured, I mean, a holy man of Sarenrae might, you know, have more good things to do I could help with."
Darius Ral'algul
" Vänne Mørkvinter was it? " Darius sighed as a small mist flew from his muzzle. He ordered his words carefully, " You are quite perceptive, I am indeed one of Sarenrae's chosen. Particularly, I am part of House Ral'algul, a family of monster Hunters. I realize my position is dangerous, so I will not willingly toss those into such conflict unknowing. Our group currently, has stumbled upon some very pressing matters. One which could affect quite a few people. It would be irresponsible to involve you more than necessary. I will ask, do you know of the Whispering Way? "
Vänne Mørkvinter
Know Arcane or Religion (same score): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
"It sounds...vaguely familiar. Something to do with undead. Not entirely sure what. I'm particularly gifted with fighting undead, though. Thanks to my....connection...I am able to warp their minds unlike almost any other magician. I'm able top into what they once were, with my magics reaching into the recesses of who they were. Charming, fear, domination - things the undead are normally immune to; not so for me."
He sighs and shakes his head.
"They're abominations. I know what I am. I don't like it - but if I can use it to put them down - to order one bloodsucker to rip the other apart until one is gone and the other ripe for the picking, or to send one mindless automaton screaming running away as if it were still alive and sentient ...I should do what I can. I've only been able to do so much alone; a village here attacked by zombies, or a child abducted by a wight, or whatnot. It's rough. When my magic succeeds, it's exceptionally powerful, but to the strong willed, as you saw, it has no effect, and then I'm in a pickle."
Zin'Retatarianna Mor
Z is minus about 40hp and could use a few hits from the wand.
Z walks around the bodies on the fallen skum burning each away as the others carry on their conversation.

Here's the last 4 charges.
CLWx4: 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 1) + 4 = 10
Wow. Not exactly going out in a blaze of glory. Darius, you got any healing left?
Vänne Mørkvinter
If Darius is out I've got a handful more infernals. It's the only way I can currently heal though, as I was too stupid to remember to buy a wand of Inflict. I can squeeze a couple out if you really need.
Darius Ral'algul
" The very idea of mental control or control period is one path that has brought many to the side of which they fight. This is all I will say on the matter in my 50ish years of life. Now as far as using what your enemy possesses against themselves.. my appearance should inform you more than you need to know. Now.."
Darius's look sways to Zin inspecting her wounds and moving close to grasp her hand. " You seem to have gotten injured, let me assist you as you have I, at least. That talk of working as a unit, you were right about. We have to preserve your offensive and defensive capability. "
He pumped Holy energy into Zin, healing her wounds.
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
10, 9 and 15 for 34 HP
" There, you should be fine now "
Vänne Mørkvinter
V shrugs. "It is what it is. It's the weapon I have. I didn't set out to learn it - I was born with my heritage, and vampires have a natural acumen to bend the wills of others. I'm actually a pretty poor mage. I don't have much knowledge of how I do what I do, it's merely instinct. I would've preferred to heal people, but it doesn't work that way, and I'm terrible with a sword, and don't nearly have the muscles any of you have. I use what is available. I understand your concern though. It can lead to severe abuse. I wouldn't live if it didn't. My mother says she still can't remember what my father's face looked like, and that he strolled past the temple guards like they were old friends, even had two of the guards hold the other sisters down when..."
He shakes his head and makes a sour face. "Let's just move on."
