Well, the monster did kind of basically kill a character, it's not like it put Amanorm to sleep, or stunned him, etc and then waited to see if we would join him in attack, or try to reason with us.

Even if my buddy walked up to a guy and punched him for zero reason, if said guy then pulls out a gun and guns him down, I'm still going to have a problem with it.

Its literally no different than if Amanorn Attacked Darius and he tore him a new one with one/two whip strikes. It responded to attack much like a powerful person would. It'd be more like if Your friend went up and shot someone in the face and instead the person were only grazed and your friend got their spine snapped.

But Amanorn didn't punch him, Amanorn SHOT him. With a bullet that EXPLODES. And with intent to kill. Because he was bored of the conversation you were having. Just because he happened to be wearing a bulletproof vest (took relatively little damage...though more than enough to kill a normal person 5 times over...) and had better aim when he retaliated in self-defense doesn't make him in the wrong, here.

Mind you in no way is this a campaign de-railer (actually "off the rails" would be the peaceful resolution), nor does it shift your alignment yet (not that it would matter, since I have no issue with running games with Evil PCs), I just wanted to make things clear.

Everyone is up BTW.

Oh I'm not arguing the moral compass of it, I'm just saying that if it just made Amanorm an idiot for an hour or two, she wouldn't care.

Its that what he did was permanent, whether Amanorm was right or not isn't a matter of concern to her, it's only that he was maimed, and therefore the fungus is going to die.

Im fine with accruing some evil points for this, if you think it's warranted.

These are Mi-Go, plant creatures FROM OUTER SPACE space...space....

As Jones has learned firsthand, they can Eviscerate their foes, causing Ability Damage to any Helpless or Grappled creature they get into their clawed hands.

They are deceptive creatures, and adept at disguise as a race.

Mi-Go have no need to breathe, and can survive with no air or atmosphere indefinitely. Combined with their ability to self-propel through the vacuum of space, they have become a prolific race of invaders space invaders, if you will, and see other life, intelligent or no, as nothing more than subjects for their experimentation.

They are resistant to Bludgeoning and Piercing attacks, as well as Fire and Electricty, and completely immune to Cold and diseases (handy features for a race of biologically inclined mad scientists who travel through space without a vessel)

They possess great technology, bio-organic in nature, and can replicate the effects of most magical items with this tech, alongside other wonders that magic has not, and may very well never, achieve.

Unlike Ogg'gggg'ol and his people, the Mi-Go are utterly, undeniably evil. They care for nothing and no one but themselves and the results of their experiments.

Wouldn't 6 be the expected? 1.5 per 1d3 is average of 3 per room, four rooms at 50/50 would be 6, no?

But yes the potential for a CR16 at lvl 9 is pretty outrageous. Better planning on their part would have done 1d3+1 per room.

Nope. Number in parentheses is number in the area. Then it gives the CR per enemy. So Mi-Go (10), CR 6. The encounter/room itself is, of course, "CR Varies".

Really this wouldn't have been SUPER hard had Jones and Sledge not run right into the pack of ten creepy aliens. A single Empowered Fireball would kill quite a few of them. Sledge can potentially Evasion his way out, but even if Jones saves he's dead if you toss that ball of fire.

Eh? We're still a month off from Easter.

The nearest is 20 feet.

I mean the one Grappling Jones/or Flanking him. As far as that my family does things way in advance we have to get suits and dresses and plan stuff because the family visits everyone in Lima, Ohio. So we make sure its more organized... people of color enjoy too much free food and drink basically.

That would be the one(s) I meant. You're within 20 feet of the offending Mi-Go that are currently Evsicerating Jones.

Darius is keeping with the theme of the book and living one month in the future, he's already playing with Jones new character, the pesh addict Wizard, Theodore Logan.

Darius steels his mind for some unknown mental assault it was becoming frequent.

Will Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

" Hold on Jones! I'll get you out of there. "

Though his upset nature with Zin would have to wait as He stepped forward and Grimoire lanced out at the creatures assaulting Jones.
The one holding him first

Plant Bane Grimoire: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
Plant Bane Grimoire Damage: 1d3 + 13 + 4d6 ⇒ (2) + 13 + (1, 5, 2, 3) = 26

Secondary Plant Bane Grimoire: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Secondary Plant Bane Grimoire Damage: 1d3 + 13 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 13 + (5, 5, 4, 3) = 31

5ft Step, Bane, Full Attack

Zin's average fireball is 45 damage. I save 50% of the time. She can just let me have it. Can't speak for jones tho

Darius whips it once, harming it.

Four more Mi-Go move in (the other two being dropped by Sledge and Jones).

They tag-team Sledge and Darius, but can't move around to flank.

WHOA ROLLS GALORE:
Vs Darius: 8d20 ⇒ (19, 15, 16, 4, 3, 1, 14, 19) = 91 All at +10.

Vs Sledge: 8d20 ⇒ (4, 15, 10, 1, 10, 20, 11, 6) = 77

5 hits on Darius, 2 on Sledge.

Grabs vs Darius: 5d20 ⇒ (2, 3, 7, 18, 4) = 34

Grabs vs Sledge: 2d20 ⇒ (18, 9) = 27

Confirm vs Sledge: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Darius is grabbed, Sledge is not.

Damage Darius: 5d4 + 15 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 1, 2) + 15 + (5, 6) = 37

Damage Sledge: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12

Darius take 37 damage, you are Grappled, and make a DC 18 Fort save or take 1d4 ⇒ 1 Con damage. Sledge, take 12 damage. Zin is up! Jones' life is in your hands.

One, How the hell did they full attack Darius, Two They would provoke anyway

I'm a derple derp is why. You get AoO. 10 damage to you, no Grapple.

Sledge eats the damage he took anyway though, they didn't need to move more than 5 feet for him.

If Z wasn't grappled I would at least give you sanctuary Jones since that's far more likely to keep you alive, but this is the best I got. Hope for no 20s.

Archons Aura is up, since they're 20 feet away, they're in range.

"You're all a bunch of idiots you know that!? You know what I do to masses of monsters and you all rush in!"

"And you Jones! Get your ass back here, I can't burn you back to life!"

Turn on wings.

Z's fiery wings burst into life, and with some apparent effort she gathers some of her flames from her arms that form a Halo of Fire above her head, that moments later is mirrored in a small ring twenty feet in all directions from her.

"Despair in my presence!" she shouts to the Mi-Go.
