corrected some msitakes and made some edits. Fixing sheet as required now.

Berry was born a tiefling. Daughter to a fearsome Raksasha prince and a prostitute her life was destined to be fraught with peril where each day her blood and her environment would drive her to darker and darker deeds until she either became that which her blood beckoned her to be or rose up through sheer strength of will to become greater than either.

That is what would happen in a less interesting world.

Instead, her prostitute mother was a courtesan for hire, a quite intelligent and shrewd woman well aware of her paramours lineage and quite delighted to find herself bearing his child. Her father, though far from a kind creature did have a soft spot for the numerous bastards he left through the multiverse and did the best thing such a creature could do for his child; handed the mother a large sum of money and politely left without any fuss while her mother made a few good investments and retired comfortably to a life of luxury and title in everything but name.

Rather than a hideous creature of infernal power and evil that Tieflings are known to be born as Berry was born with a stubby white tail with downy white fur and a pair of rabbit ears as soft as velvet (traits her mother will say are most definitely her fathers). With huge red eyes and pale skin she was treated as a precious little treasure rather than a hideous monster.

In truth Berry wanted for nothing while growing up, she received all the love and attention one can ask for, anything she wanted could be hers, and the best education available was given to her. And though she never took to book lessons and even less to etiquette she excelled in physical pursuits and fencing most of all.

But it was when her half brothers turned 7 (sensible young lads with which nothing ill can really be spoken of) that she realized that they were treated more respectfully and more seriously than she was being treated at age 14. She started paying attention to the things people said to her as compared to others and to her horror she came to the terrible realization that she was beautiful, cute, graceful and just dumb enough that no one could take her seriously. In the mind of a person just turning 15 this was a tragedy.

And thus began the years of squeaky torments, as she imagined them, attempts at terrorizing servants, beating on lessers (And to a lesser extent equals) and otherwise being a terrible human being overall. Yet no matter how bad she was, how vile, how utterly fearful she tried to be the servants would shrug call it the "ides of growing up" and let it pass with a smile and a pat on the back.

When she turned 18 her rage had simmered to an adult form of silent outrage and with the blessings of her mother, the relief of her brothers and the sincere goodbyes of the servants, she left her home to make her way in the world.

Unfortunately there are few outlets where a woman with a perfectly shaped figure and tall bunny ears can make her way without a certain amount of visual groping by males of every race. After a few fruitless months of taking odd jobs in various positions (mostly where she stood around holding things, or handing things to people, all with the mental stimulation of peeling paint) which invariably ended in pinched bottoms and broken noses she found a job working for a necromancer as a "dark mistress".

She believed the job would be more exciting as it seemed to entail mystic rituals, wrestling with demons, and epic battles with knights and adventurers. Mostly she stood around holding dead things or handing things to dead people. While she kind of liked the job required black nail polish and hair dye her short dark mistress career ended abruptly when she heard Ted* the necromancer refer to her as a mind broken sex slave.

The clerics say Ted will recover though he will lose the use of right hand.

After this was a year or two in adventuring seeing that as the only way she might gain some modicrum of respect. She mostly spent her time walking around holding things, handing things to other people and occasionally stabbing things. These brief times with adventuring groups usually ended with pinched bottoms and broken noses. Though one time she was kicked out after the groups paladin broke his code and lost his abilities after seeing her bathing naked.

When she arrived in Absalom she decided to get into underground dueling. It worked out for a while and she made money and gained respect of a sort. But, it was the sort of respect she found that women got for being champion mud wrestlers. It wasn't so much about skill as watching her shapely bottom as she performed a perfect thrust to a mans chest and not only hitting home but missing any vital organs.

In a sense joining the town guard is yet another effort in a seemingly never ending quest to gain respect for something other than the bouncy round things popping out of her chest and making armor very hard to wear.

*Ted actually referred to himself as Teldon the Bloodgorger as it's customary for necromancers to change their names to something more intimidating once they receive their skull staff. Tar-Baphon for example once went by the name Simon and liked long soothing walks in the flowering meadows of his families estate.

^I could see Berry and Hazel bonding over the shared plight of not being taken seriously...either that or Hazel developing an amusing but ultimately harmless jealous streak :3

Everyone:

To help me, I'm going to ask that if you have a trait, feat, class feature, etc. listed on your character sheet, that you put a brief summary of what it means next to it so I don't have to look everything up.

example:
Indomitable Faith (+1 on Will saves)

Thanks.

Okay. Will update it tonight. I have some real-life things starting in the next few minutes that I need to take care of.

I had simply put all of that info down in the special abilities section. But will move it for convenience ^^

In other news, spotted a mistake that needs correcting as well. And I need to port over spell descriptions.

Crivens! We've finally arrived.

Frizell, you need a different feat. Trick Riding needs 9 ranks of ride! Mounted Combat is a pretty solid one.

Is that output from HeroLab? I'd like to be able to format my characters like that but I don't want to have to buy all the extra modules I'd need for all the books. Can you just buy the basic program and enter the abilities you want by hand?

How is my character sheet right now, on information? I know some of it probably needs to be moved...

Ironically, the mistake I spotted was her languages; she had 6. When corrected, she ended up with... 6. I had altered her Intelligence down, forgot to adjust the languages, and forgot Aasimar get Celestial as a starter.

Looks good, I'm not picky about the order.

gm question:
I did think of something I would spend gold on. What would you say it would cost to say, have a net made out of fine chain? what about stronger fine mithril? To be honest the mental idea of kvell dragging a criminal suspect to the station or down a street while they are entangled in a net made me smile... and im thinking it could be a useful possibility. Wanted something a bit sturdier than normal rope however.

.

He can get it as a combat style feat.

He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites.

Yes, Hero Lab. If you can make feats and stuff yourself, I have not figured out how to do it yet. (But I haven't really tried to figure it either.)
However, you can output the info like I did here, then type whatever I want in that output. But it won't be saved in Herolab for the next time.

Oh, thanks for the correction. That's pretty handy.

Kvell: rules for special materials here, see if you see anything.

Looks like a mithral net is supposed to be +3000 gp which is a lot.

I have no problem with the concept. You can get a masterwork net for +300 which RAW is +1 to hit. We can add a couple of points to the strength check. Maybe someone can suggest a published version of a stronger rope or net.

Thanks to everyone for your interest. Get your character in tonight if you still want in on this. I have seen all the ones that expressed interest except for Irnk, Xane, and NielsenE, so if I missed one of those let me know.

Oz MK2:
Constable Edgcombe was once a promising recruit as he made it through training easily and possessed a keen mind. It was thought he would make his way up the ranks in the City Watch quickly. Of course, all it takes is the personal hatred of one influential commander is enough to stymie anyone's career. You see, Oz was caught in a compromising situation with the man's daughter. A very, very compromising situation, the kind that only show up in tawdry tavern songs and cheapseat theatricals.

Of course, the thing that stings Oz the most about this whole situation was that there was absolutely nothing happening between them but every time he tries to explain the situation people seem to immediately assume the worst of the situation. A more superstitious man might seen the hand of fate at work here. Regardless, he has more or less told that his only chance to stay in the Watch is to join up with the non-human probationary unit. Officially, it is a second chance but unofficially, someone higher up would like to see Oz's career unceremoniously put down.

Born and raised in Absalom, Oz is familiar with the impoverished side of the city, the side he grew up on. He knows which streets to avoid, who is in the know, and where to find useful if dubiously legal items. Curiously, he balances his knowledge of the city's seedier side with a remarkable interest in doing the right thing for the people of the city. Burgeoning cynicism aside, he did initially join the guard out of an urge to try and do the right thing.

He is not the most sensitive of people, at this point he rarely gives anyone his respect unless they try to earn it first. He does not like the ruling houses of Absalom, he does not like the Pathfinders, and while he does not particularly care for non-humans he is at least willing to give them more of a chance than many other subsets of the population. Not liking someone is no reason to keep them from doing their job and doing it well.

He is not the easiest to get along with, as he is blunt to a fault and often gives those around him the feeling of some sort of predator sizing them up. Exactly why this is is beyond Oz entirely. The man has no real life outside his job, his apartment is has a few second-hand pieces of furniture but in the end, a Spartan would declare it inhospitable. Other than a few pubs he takes his meals at or the occasional matinee performance, his life could be described as remarkably dull. Precisely what caused this young man to shut down so much of his life would be a matter for some debate if anyone got close enough to care.

Oz is not exactly an atheist but he certainly is not on speaking terms with the majority of the gods. As far as he is concerned, they have a lovely business relationship. He calls on the priesthood of the good ones for the occasional favor and they get taken care of relatively well.

Fleshed out the backstory some, gave more hints as to his personality and set him up to be something of the resident straight-man and a bit of a grump.

I thank you all for your submissions and for your creativity and for indulging my eccentric ideas for a game. I hate to break up the party but I've made my starting choices. It was not an easy choice but I hope the play styles of the ones I've chosen will mesh well with my style. We'll see what happens. Maybe some of you will have a chance to join later.

The following characters can report to the gameplay thread after I do the first post:

Everest (android slayer, er, an android who is a slayer that is)
Oswyn Edgecombe (human slayer, um, same deal)
Frizell (Feegle ranger)
Hazel Stokes (changeling inquisitor)
Corvus Fracta'ala (strix bounty hunter)

grats to those who made it have fun

Looking forward to it! I have to say though, this is one of those times that I'm really sad that not everyone can play because I was having a ball reading/participating in the tavern RP with everyone.

Well done all, and I second Hazel's comment, the tavern was great fun :)

Grats! I hope you enjoy your game!
