Pyrrha did lunge from 10ft away at her nearest target, so I don't understand how she was moved to where she is standing now. Unless there was a spell that forced her to moved there. Also I have lots of questions about just being owned by this mook. Did Pyrrha just get sneak attacked? How does one move more than 5ft and get a full attack? Just curious so if you want or need to keep it a secret don't worry.

I, at least, can explain the move and full-attack. Under Jon's -might I say nice- houserules, from level 6 onwards you can move half-your speed and full-attack.
I know from certain level you can do a full-move too, and there's abit about basically getting pounce -full-attack on a charge-, bht I'm not sure about any level reqs.
About the damage? No clue, if it's worth shite, I'll post soon and I do believe my damage will be same as theirs... if not superior. What the Mantis guy did to you is, to put it simply, a hell of an entrance!
Jon, The Evil DM
As Variel mentioned, you can move up to half your speed and make a full attack under my houserules; this applies to you as well, not just enemies. Specifically, at 6th level you can move half your speed and full-attack, but you can also charge and make a full-attack at the end. In addition, iteratives never drop below a -5, so at say 11th level you're rolling +11/+6/+6 with a full BAB class. You can't ever do a full move and full-attack, although if you're hasted or anything of that nature you can effectively move your full normal speed.
However, I didn't notice you were actually using the Lunge feat to increase your reach; in the future, please indicate that outside of the narrative version of the post in something like OOC text, especially since you weren't within 10 feet of him on the map originally (unless I was mistaken). I've moved you to where you should be on the map. He is still able to move that far and full-attack, but the positioning means he isn't getting sneak attack on his sabre attack. The second guy can still move into position to hit you with sneak attack with his revolver however, as he can move into a position where he's threatening with his pistol that would count as flanking.
Still, it shaves off some damage; you take 44 as opposed to 57.
Also, it's worth mentioning these aren't supposed to be mooks. This is a serious fight so it's not as if they're going to be chump change. You did a LOT of damage to them too, however. This fight is meant to be tough but it shouldn't kill you.
Pyrrha
I'll make sure to note ability uses better moving forward. I wasn't within 10' of him because he was also not my intended target, the one I was 10' away from was but it doesn't matter now. Is positioning and facing a house rule I overlooked as well?
Jon, The Evil DM
No, I think I just mistook who you were attacking. The other guy had moved in combat and I thought you were intending to go after someone who hadn't acted yet in order to have them be flat-footed. Seems like that was my mistake, then. Sorry about that! I have a feeling we very well might have some healing coming here for you all shortly though, since Edward is up. Still, I apologize for misunderstanding what you were doing. I think I actually started to have it happen the way you intended and then thought it was the other way around, and now we are where we are. I think this also being the first combat didn't help as I wasn't sure if I'd remembered to give you control of your token or something and so you didn't move, etc.
PS: For anyone wondering, I crossed out those rolls earlier as I realized they were no longer applicable but removing them would mess up all my other math for the round. Just as an FYI, I considered Azulth to still be moving at half-speed for Acrobatics as he was moving at half his total speed. I won't make you move at what comes out to a quarter of your speed in order to be able to full-attack without being seriously hindered by AoOs.

Terribly sorry, I'm out of town today or a last minute trip. I promise to post tomorrow.

Hey guys! This is me putting out feelers, looking for replacement players for another game of mine I'm running here on the boards. I had a player who had to leave and another who, as of right now, has gone missing. She may show up but the other person will not be coming back, so I'm looking for 1-2 new players for this game. What's the game? Glad you asked.
This is a game based on the XCOM video game series, primarily XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 as those are the ones I actually own. The players at the moment are former UN Peacekeepers that have been drafted into the XCOM Initiative after it was reinstated due to an alien incident which destroyed the city of Basra in Iraq. The game is set a few years in the future (I believe 2019 is when I set it, specifically?) but is basically in our world a few years down the line. If you were to join, you'd be taking on the role of another UN Peacekeeper who was involved in the Basra incident where an alien ship crashed into the city which destroyed it. Aliens were loose in the ruins of the city and killed quite a few people before the remains of the city were bombed by the UN and the initial damage was blamed on terrorists who had gained access to experimental weaponry. At the moment, the group is tracking down a traitor within the Peacekeepers who has kidnapped a terrorist leader they had previously kidnapped. This is mainly to introduce a secondary antagonist to the game in addition to the aliens. I intend for this game to be a merging of the kind of action you expect from XCOM with the more heavy roleplay element obviously present in a tabletop RPG. There are going to be plenty of situations where skills other than shooting a gun will be useful and even necessary, and you may be embroiled in situations with no clear-cut right solution. Of course, you ARE all soldiers. This also isn't a direct copy of any of the game's plots, so no worries there.
The system we're using is Savage Worlds. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a very simple game system (I'm talking build a character in 5-10 minutes simple) and is very easy to learn but still allows from complexity in character creation. I'm looking for characters that... vageuly fill the game roles but if you have an idea that doesn't fit within them I'm not going to exclude it. If you don't know the system but are still interested, I can send you a copy of the Core SW book (which is the only one in use at the moment) so you can look it over. If you're interested, do feel free to let me know here or (preferably) through PM with an idea for a character you might have. I can provide additional details on the game and what's happened so far that you'd be aware of if you're interested.
-Jon

I can't recommend that game enough, same goes with the system.
As a player, I can say it's been hella fun son far, and as soon as I can bullshit my way into a tank it will be loads funnier.
So go ahead and join us, and remember that whatever happened the irish wasn't there and he ain't seen shite.
Mephiston Thrune
It's not exactly set up the same way that XCOM games are, but we have a demolitions expert, two assault types with different builds (one's more a support aura build while the other his heavy weapons), and a medic.

Quoting Jon, from another of his games
Existing characters are:
Gavril Vasilescu: Gavril is a French-Romanian who served with the French Foreign Legion in the Middle East combating terrorist threats before joining the UN Peacekeepers. He's a massive, muscle-bound machine gunner who also uses a shotgun and a tactical tomahawk in battle. He also speaks a large variety of languages and is currently serving as the group's translator since they're still in the Middle East. He's tough to take down and built to be a mix of Heavy/Assault from the new XCOM games. In addition, this character is played by Loup Blanc, who plays Prophet in this game.
Rosa Vasquez: A medic who originally worked with the LAPD SWAT team, she volunteered for service as a combat medic with the UN Peacekeepers in Basra. While still capable in combat with a submachine gun, she's less focused on outright damage and instead is a very good support character; she currently has abilities to make her a more capable healer and also to make her good at talking with people. She's building to be a Support class character, mainly. In addition, this character is played by Kamenhero25, who plays Annika in this game.
Jacob Farrell: Jacob is a former IRA terrorist who ended up working with the Royal Engineering Corps and has been working with bringing technology to improve the lives of those in less developed areas of the Middle East. He was working with the Peacekeepers as a demolitions expert as well as having an advanced knowledge of repairing all sorts of technology. He has an assault rifle but as of now seems to certainly prefer his grenade launcher in combat. He's similar to the Grenadier in terms of roles from XCOM 2 but isn't exactly correlated to any specific class from the games. In addition, this character is played by EmissaryoftheNorth, who plays Jonathan in this game.
Borax Bohan: Borax is a former member of a US-led black ops team devoted to looking for any trace of alien activity; the program was shut down after...
I, for example, am Jacob the demolition expert/grenade launcher aficionado/mechanics and repairs' man/crazy old irish with three long weapons and two side handguns.
Come with us, it's calm and cozy.

I know the boards have been wonky, but I just want to let you guys know that for a while the direction you take is in your hands. Anything you want to try--and for the most part, I mean anything--you can give it a shot and I'll figure out if it works or not. Obviously you could search for tracks, but stuff like looking for information or interacting with the criminal element or even doing something like talking to some followers of the Last Disciple are all on the table, among anything else you come up with.
Jon, The Evil DM
So, at the moment we have these plans of action:
Anything else?
Looking for signs of the red-skinned man will be Survival, so anyone going there can roll that. Investigating the ledge is Perception. Variel's sword would be Diplomacy, specifically to gather information (if anyone has a situational bonus). Mephiston and Tosguld can roll either Diplomacy or Knowledge (Local) to try and get some information out of people or find someone who might know something. Also Tosguld, am I correct in assuming you're looking to talk to perhaps some... more unsavory individuals who might have some information? If that's your goal--rather than talking to other guardsmen--you can also roll Intimidate. After all, your ARE a guard captain.
Another question. Do you all want to split up, or tackle these one-by-one as a group?
Azulth the Slayer
Azulth's a tracker by virtue of being an inquisitor, so he'll tackle that. It sounds like at least one or two people might be tagging along for that, as well. And I think we can afford to split up some, although we may not want anyone totally alone if they're pursuing a lead that could be trouble (e.g., tracking a mysterious stranger).
Tosguld Gatewatcher
I agree with Azulth. No need to have a large crowd gallivanting through the city, best to stay in small groups, I think.
I like your idea, Jon. I'll look around for some unsavory individuals.
Jon, The Evil DM
Mephiston Thrune
I've said my piece really. I figured that once we combined info, we'd head off to search for the mysterious tiefling.
Variel the Old
|
I was actually waiting on... I'm not sure, truth be told, perhaps some info sharing.
Variel can't track the Red Man by scent alone, but we perhaps can look for the scroll seller. We'd need to check on anyone selling demonic/evil scrolls.
Tosguld Gatewatcher
I'm in the same boat as Mephiston, I believe. I'm ready to move on once the rest of the party completes their information gathering.
Azulth the Slayer
I think I meant to post, couldn't, and then there weren't any updates so I forgot to check. I've been busy, so I didn't really think to double check if I needed to post here. My apologies. Info sharing sounds like a good plan.
Azulth the Slayer
Hey all, posting this in all my games to let people know I'll be away for a few days. My family is headed to camp later today, and I won't have Internet or my computer while I'm there. I should be back and posting Friday afternoon/evening (Eastern Time), but please push the game as needed, botting my character if you need to do so. Thanks!
Jon, The Evil DM
I'm still waiting for a definite direction from you guys. Have you decided to try and identify the scroll? It seems like that may be the idea, but there wasn't any confirmation on that and I don't want to move forward on one person's suggestion.
Crack-jawed Ahto
I didn't chime in because I didn't have the requisite power to do so, but I'm for identifying the scroll.
Varrren
I am not sure where to go with trying to identify the scroll. From your description we have only the tiniest bit of it...
Tosguld Gatewatcher
If there is more information to glean from the scroll I say we investigate, as it seems to be our only tangible lead to the red-skinned man. The only information I have to really offer the group is he may be a man named Twist.

I will be out of reach from friday night to tuesday afternoon. I am going to my sister's house and then on to watch the eclipse from inside the path of totality. I may have occasional access on saturday, but I am not planning on posting anything.
Variel the Old
|
I'll try to get a post in tomorrow, but failing that expect it before Monday... I'm chaining camping after camping and I truly miss my laptop and home.
As for wet work, I am familiar with the term. I simply figured Variel, being old as balls, wasn't. Same would go for things like Popping a cap on the guy, he would be confused and probably think of youngsters a dumbasses.
Tosguld Gatewatcher
IRL, I've never actually heard the term, but I gathered its meaning :b
Mephiston Thrune
Hey. Quick heads up. My sister is going away to college for the first time this weekend and the whole family is going with to help her move in. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and I should have internet, but my posting may be slower than usual until Sunday.
Jon, The Evil DM
So, just to double check, we're going to have some people take a look around in the Puddles, but Tosguld is interested in speaking with his fellow guards for information? Is anyone else tagging along on either of these missions, or does anyone want to do something different?
Tosguld Gatewatcher
If it doesn't get in the way, I would like to do that. I just figured the group would be able to gather more information without a shiny guard captain tagging along.
Pyrrha
I'd like to take a moment to explore Tos's information gathering and then all head to the Puddles.
Jon, The Evil DM
I was hoping to have Tosguld's encounter with the guards run parallel with the exploring in the Puddles, so I'd prefer if people choose one of the other. If you'd rather go to the Puddles instead that's fine. Also, if anyone wants to pursue anything else, let me know.
Jon, The Evil DM
Hey, so I'll be updating today. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on some stuff.
First, I've been waiting to post because I was speaking with Edward's player, or trying to. I asked if he was still interested because he hasn't posted in a long time. He said he had just fallen behind and was having trouble finding a way back in, and said it was probably time he gave up. I replied offering to help find a way for him to get back in if he wanted to, but he hasn't responded and I suspect he will not. So, while I was waiting to see if that would pan out, it seems it has not.
Also, Azulth was potentially out of commission for a bit, but it's looking like his computer is going to be fine.

Hey guys, this is a blanket notice going out to all of my games here on the boards. While I am thankfully outside the path of Hurricane Harvey, current projections for Hurricane Irma are sending it barreling up the coast of Florida to sweep much of the eastern coast of the United States. As I live directly on the ocean, I'm already gearing up for a potential evacuation at the moment. While hopefully all I get is a lot of rainfall, it's likely that by the time Irma hits Maryland it will still be at least a Category 3 storm, if not worse. I will have my laptop and such in the case of an evacuation, but I likely won't be able to post with any real schedule or frequency. Moreover, given that I live more or less directly on the ocean, it's more likely than not that if I'm forced to evacuate there will not be a home for me to come back to after the storm passes. The island is not built to withstand that kind of storm, and the last time something anywhere near that deadly swept through, it made an inlet where there used to be a road. My point being, if I'm hit by the hurricane it's very likely I will be off the boards for a long while, or at least my posting will be sparse and intermittent.
I'm sure I'm not the only one following the storm on the news, but I'll do my best to keep everyone updated on my status. It's likely the storm, if it hits me at all, will make landfall here early next week. If you see on the news that the storm has hit Maryland and you don't hear from me, that's probably why. I just wanted to put this message up now as I'm prone to losing power during storms and I didn't want to leave anyone hanging.
Thanks for understanding,
Jon
Varrren
Take care of yourselves, Jon and Ahto. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, and if there is a way someone in Wisconsin can help, let me know.
Stay safe, and we will be here when you have time...
Tosguld Gatewatcher
Stay safe! Take care of yourself first and post if you happen to have time :)
Crack-jawed Ahto
So, barring a sudden way-off-the-projected-path change of trajectory, it looks like Irma is going to miss my state almost entirely.
I'm somewhat cautious, though, to say I'm in the clear. It's a really big storm, and I wouldn't be surprised if we caught some wind and heavy rain off its edges.
I hope GM Jon is doing okay.
