Yes-book price. 2-3 months will pass before the next adventure. I actually had Variel buy at CLW wand

2-3 months in real world or game time?

Game time. Figure you guys can tell me if there is anything specific you want to do/learn/investgate in town while you train your new level and get to know the area/patrol/etc. This time would allow for the creation or importation of anything you want to spend your money on (wand of CLW) as well as advance the scenario to prepare for the next adventure.

Talk to the sheriff and see if he has any clue who might have been following us in the forest.

Provide whatever healing I can to anyone in town that needs it.

Find out if Milon's nephew is okay. If his nephew is good, go out tot the lumber camp again and find Milon and ask him who he thinks might have followed us.

To DM: Azzakan was asked to be deployed to another group. He has trained with woodsmen (rouges/manly transvestites) who are very able in stealthy combat techniques. He is training to be able to sneak up on an enemy and find their weak spots. He has gone on long patrols around Falcon' s Hollow. Through his training he has gained many skills. He now realizes he needs some rogue's tools and other essentials.

COB= close of business

Or it could mean during a lull in my day... :D

The ramshackle town of Falcon's Hollow rests perilously close to the infamous Darkmoon Vale. The jagged shadow of nearby mountains casts a shroud of gloom on the desperate souls who call this place home. Many are drawn here to make their fortune cutting a swath of darkwood lumber through the lush forests of the vale. Others journey to these remote fringes to start over, piecing together their shattered lives on the edge of an untouched wilderness far from the things of man. Persecuted zealots and outcasts flock to Falcon's Hollow. Here these fanataics practice their strange and often deviant rites unfettered by the mores of civilization. Still others are lured to Falcon's Hollow by the promise of great adventure. Peril and splendor await within the accursed halls of dwarven kings of old, whose glorious civilization long ago shattered and crumbled to dust.

You have spent the last few months working with Sheriff Deldrin Baleson to patrol and police the areas around Falcon's Hollow. After your retrun with the ironblooms you attempted to double back and determine who was following you, to no avail.

You find out that although the Sheriff works with Magistrate Vamros Harg, he is very independent and doesn't trust the Magistrate one bit, feeling that he is fully bought and paid for by the resident boss of the Lumber Consortium: Gavel Thuldrin Kreed.

Deldrin used to be a poor lumberjack toiling in the cutyards under Kreed's oppressive thumb. One day he refused to a pay an "axe tax" on a lumberaxe he had already bought and paid for. Boss "Pay Day" Teedum (Kreed's enforcer) tried to take Deldrin's axe, and the half-elf smashed Teedum's face with the flat of it. As one of the few locals to stand up to Teedum and Kreed, he was elected Sheriff the following week. Now he carries the same axe around on his shoulder to remind Kreed and Boss Teedum he is not afraid of them. Deldrin is tall for a half-elf, towering over most humans, and his well-muscled, imposing form is further enhanced by his sharp gold-flecked eyes.

Your interactions with Deldrin help you to identify some of the more powerful individuals and groups within the town. Magistrate Harg, Gavel Thuldrin Kreed, and Boss Teedum are all central figures to the power structure in town; Kreed uses the wealth and influence of the Lumber Consortium (as well as the fact that the Consortium employs more than 70% of the families in town) to bully the townsfolk and generally get his way. It appears that his primary motivation is to wring every last blood copper of profits he can from the citizens of the town to fill his coffers. He resides in "The Perch"; the elevated collection of homes and businesses just outside of the town proper that has its own secure stockade, marketplace, and well.

In addition, Kabran Bloodeye-a short statured half-orc with blood red eyes and no nose (he wears a bronze nosepiece over the ugly crater where it used to be that whistles disturbingly as he breaths and leaks blood and mucus). Karban is reputed to be the head of the Redrock Guild, a group of vile flesh-peddlers, sneakthieves, and murderers, but Deldrin has never been able to directly pin any crimes to him or his activities. Karban runs the only brothel in town-The Rouge Lady Inn.

Finally, Deldrin is convinced that there is an underground cult of Urgathoa (the Pallid Princess-goddess of disease, gluttony, and undeath) active in Falcon's but he has never been able to identify anyone directly; but in addition to the recent round of blackscour over the years there has been an unnerving amount of incidences with low level undead, especially random wandering zombies, that Deldrin can never determine the origin of.

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

Having rented rooms at the well named Jak'a'Napes Inn (tended by one Jak Crimrny) you are sought out on a late Spring morning by one of Deldrin's deputies. He asks you to head over to the Sheriff's office to discuss a mater of concern and some discretion.

You were able to get back to town in time to save Milon's nephew and is forever in your debt. He just asks that your visits to him be discreet as he doesn't want to raise any suspicion with Kreed or his men.

Let me know if you guys want to tighten anything else up before I assume you head to the Sheriff's office. Send me your new updated character sheets when you get a chance.

During this time, Daed will convert most of his currency to small gems so he can easily carry. Also see of there are any temples or clerics in town of good alignment and meet with them and see if I can learn anything else of interest.

Currency to gems is no problem; deduct 5% transaction fee.

There is a church to Bahamut in the town led by Lady Cirthana. However, few of the townsfolk trust her, viewing her as a "proselytizing do-gooder" that tends to stick her nose where it is not wanted. The fact that she actively tries to help those on the wrong side of the Lumber Consortium or the Redrock Guild has done nothing to endear her with the powers that be in Falcon's. Cirthana does tell you that she also feels there are dark forces at work around the town, over and above the occasional were-beast outbreak or undead.

To DM: not able to download character sheet on my IPAD 1. I think everything is in the character section.
Gathered rumors and hints while training with the soldiers on the outskirts. Did I gain any knowledge?

You learned more about the ruins you visited: It was a monastery long ago, where they worshiped some dark joyless god of toil. Druingar the Glintaxe, the great dwarven hero, quested there to find relics of his people's ancient empire. He never returned, and now those who venture close to the place at night claim his ghost glides through its gloomy halls, preying on anyone foolish enough to trespass there.

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

You guys ready to head over to the Sheriff's office?

ready

Female Human hmam

Suppose so...

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

The party quickly heads over to the Sheriff's office, where a heated conversation punctuated by two men yelling can be heard. Before they are able to open the door, it is yanked open from the other side. Storming out is Thuldrin Kreen and his associate "Pay Day" Teedum.

Oh great! The mushroom collectors to the rescue! Turning back to address whoever is inside the office, You had best have a better option than these buffoons Sheriff! More likely they will turn up those idiot sheep herders before they locate my son!

With that Teedum pushes you aside to make room for Kreen who stalks off towards his home in the Perch.

You hear a weary voice from within the office that you recognize as Sheriff Deldrin, Come in my friends. I'm afraid I have a favor to ask you.

Enter the office. "What was that about sheriff?"

Female Human hmam

I watch the two leave closely and enter the office. [bold] sheriff, is there something we can help you with. Those two looked a little pissed off.

Female Human hmam

sheriff, is there something we can help you with? Those two looked very pissed off.

Male Half-orc Paladin/1

I am silent and observant.

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

Deldrin rubs his furrowed brow with one hand, the stress obvious on his face. Thanks for coming. As I said, I have a favor to ask of you and it won't be exactly your standard "Cloak" business. It appears that a few of the town's more adventurous children have disapeared over the last 24 hours. Stops and looks in the direction that Kreen stormed out his door. In most cases my good friend Thuldrin wouldn't give two whore's coppers of concern for missing children, but in this case one of them happens to be his son, Jurin Kreed.

"Deldrin, of course we are on it. How many children? Where were they last seen? Were they together at the time of the disappearance? Any other information that might help us locate them?"

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

There are five children missing; a girl and four boys. Kimi Eavewalker is a fearless tomboy and probably leading the group on whatever fool adventure they are on. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her father Idris who is a local ranger of some fame but he has been gone away for a few years. Of the boys, one is obviously Jurin Kreed. He's not a bad kid, and I'm sure if it wasn't for his father's influence he'd probably turn out fine. Hollin you have met. He's the young page that serves the Magistrate. His sister Ralla looks after him since his parents died; mother during childbirth and father killed by an owlbear a few years ago logging. Mikra is also missing, you know the butcher's son? Finally, young Savram Vade, who is the son of crazy old Sharvaros who works in the graveyard.

They were last seen yesterday, but none of their other friends will tell me where or where they might be going. Must be the scary Sheriff factor. If you ask around I'm sure someone will confide in you what happened. Sad day when the children will speak to the Cloaks before their own Sheriff. He shakes his head.

Make a DC 15 check with your CHA modifier or knowledge-local; whichever is better.

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

After chasing down a few of the older kids that you have come to know over the past few months you are able to ascertin that the group of missing children had taken a "secret dare" to spend a night at the burned-out ruin of Elara's Halfway House. The Halfway House burned down 6 months before you arrived in Falcon's with both Elara and all the children housed there being burned alive. It is now whispered to haunted by spirits or worse and apparently the brazen group of kids set out to show that those whispers were just the noises of cowardly townsfolk.

We figure out where Elara's is located and start heading that way after letting the sheriff know the information.

Male Half-orc Paladin/1

Let's go.

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

DM screen:
Jalriel Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22Variel Survival: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Jalriel:
During the half day it takes to reach the burned out husk of Elara's both Jalriel and Variel discern five sets of childsized footprints meandering northwest toward the orphanage.

After a half day's march:

The blackened husk of the orphanage lies atop the hill. Charred timbers are strewn among piles of caked ash adn the only edifice left standing is a soot-stained stone arch. A small stuffed doll lies below the arch, her face seared off and her patchwork dress spilling dirty stuffing. Beside her, a troop of half-melted tin soldiers stand in formation, their bodies twisted and deformed by the blaze that claimed their owner's life.

Male Half-orc Paladin/1

The kids have come this way.
I search for more tracks at the orphanage.

I say a prayer to Desna for those who died in the blaze. Then I inspect the area, seeing if I can find anything of use.

perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Female Human hmam

To everyone: I am attempting to say nothing! Azzakan is doing his best to not interfere in what his friends are doing. But Azzakan wants to have fun with foolish comments and actions.
I pick up the doll and try to repair it. Maybe help later
I also inspect the area with my friend Daed...
nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Male Elf Druid/1 AC:20 HP:24/24

After some careful searching the party finds a cleverly hidden charred trapdoor beneath almost an inch of ash in the center of the ruins. The lock is entirely melted and un-pickable.

DM screen:
Jalriel Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Jalriel also finds the tracks of what appears to be small children that lead a short way off in to the woods.

Can we break the lock or door?

Male Half-orc Paladin/1

I think we should follow the tracks into the woods first.

Ok with me
