Neither black nor gray have their guns out.
The car backs out of the warehouse, and pulls away, driving through the WM yard. Big bright lights illuminate the giant reclamation area. There seems to be a shift change going on, with people going in and coming out.
What are you going to do? BTW: With the earlier tactics roll going on, you know that an attack now is a mixed bag, as (A) The shift change creates chaos, which could aid you, but also (B) increases the number of potential backup/witnesses/innocent bystanders.
What are you going to do?
Just note, you have no idea Aegis and Pulse are sending conflicting orders to Whip, nor what Whip is sending back.

Project Violet |

Violet has absolutely no idea what Whip's conversation is, as it's all going on between Whip and Pulse and Aegis.
She's remaining mostly patient and waiting for a signal from Whip. This involves idly fidgeting with her coat, checking and fixing her makeup, and as the bus was most likely not left running, leaning against Rocket because he's warm and a shut down bus is a cold bus.

Hotaru Hoshiko |

Until Whip left you guys, it was actually a 'voice' call. :) Afterwards, though, it's been up to Whip to share. :) Other than that, nothing to add to the scene so far! In the future, Hotaru can actually likely keep the call open multi-way if that's preferred. And Kittyface says it's a possibility. :)

Whippoorwill |

"Pulse, what's your situation? Is Aegis with you?" Whippoorwill tries to get more information as she circles over the warehouses, avoiding the compound's lights.

Hotaru Hoshiko |

Hotaru nods, "Yeah, right beside me, we're in the car getting ready to leave. Gray and black have put their guns away. I think they're just going to take us back where they found us."

mdt |

The car begins driving through the WM reclaimation center....
if nothing happens
The car turns out on the road....
if nothing happens
The car takes off down the road toward down town....
if nothing happens?
Waiting to see what people are doing

Whippoorwill |

Whippoorwill dials them up. "Rocket, we're going to pay these guys a visit. Get Violet and bring her to stretch of road that's the most deserted/empty that the car will be on. I'm going to hit them with a smoke feather, so be ready, that'll be the signal."

Project Violet |

Looking out the bus window, down the road at the now-exiting car, Violet replies:
"Pulse hasn't sounded an alarm, has she? Why are we attacking if Pulse and Aegis are coming back unharmed? How is that okay?"

Whippoorwill |

"Aegis called for the attack. I've got to assume she's got a good reason to," she responds.

Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |

Aegis won't take any action until they attack.

Project Violet |

"Aegis called for the attack. I've got to assume she's got a good reason to," she responds.
Violet wrinkles her nose and not for the first time wishes she were able to mind link with people.
"I'm not okay with striking unprovoked," she replies. "And I don't know how to drive this bus, so whatever we do, we'd better do it somewhere Rocket won't get spotted zipping us both there."

mdt |

The car continues to drive further away from the reclamation yard, toward down town St. Louis.
Is whip following it? If so, I need a perception check, it's getting dark, and following a car on a dark street from 1000 ft up is much harder when you only see headlights on the road.

mdt |

No, you didn't. As far as you are concerned, you are still following them. That is a critical failure, which means you've picked up the wrong car and are now following it. Please proceed as if you still had them.

Whippoorwill |

Well, just wonderful.
Whippoorwill wrote:"Aegis called for the attack. I've got to assume she's got a good reason to," she responds.Violet wrinkles her nose and not for the first time wishes she were able to mind link with people.
"I'm not okay with striking unprovoked," she replies. "And I don't know how to drive this bus, so whatever we do, we'd better do it somewhere Rocket won't get spotted zipping us both there."
"That's the plan. There should be minimal witnesses at the intersection I gave you. Just have Rocket carry you there; we don't need the bus."

Project Violet |

Violet sighs and pulls the intersection up on her phone, showing it to Rocket.
"I have a bad feeling about this," she says to him. Then, almost as an afterthought, adds. "We're supposed to be the good guys, right?"

The Rocket |

Rocket shakes his head. "It sounded like we were getting out of this without a fight, but Whippoorwill is way beyond us on real-world tactics. If she says we strike, I trust her.
"Doesn't mean I'm not nervous though." With that he scoops Violet up, saying, "Let me know if I start to go too fast. I don't really know what it's like to be carried by me. I'll stay well below mach 1 at any rate."
And with that he takes off for the intersection. As he starts to move he eases his perception into high-speed mode, noting the world go to slow-mo around him.
Rocket does his best to keep obstacles between himself and possible viewers, occasionally taking a sharp 120 degree turn to try to remain no more than another breeze in the night.
Perception 15-: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) = 11
Stealth 15-: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) = 13
OOC, *really* hoping one of us notices that this is the wrong car before things go too far south.

Project Violet |

Violet is very glad she dressed warmly. Hello, wind-chill.
"I'm just worried that someone might be jumping some guns," she says to Rocket as he picks her up. He's... a lot stronger than he looks. "Literally. There's just no need to start a fight if we get what we need the easy way."
Int Roll (13 or less, -3, need a 10 or less): 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2) = 11

Dark Goo |

Are we there yet, Goo wonders. Are we there yet, Goo thinks to himself. Are we there yet, Goo considers as the vehicle keeps moving. Are we there yet, Goo wonders again.
I be on the road most of the day so the above post is prepering me for my kids. Also, wont be able to post til this evening.

The Rocket |

int 12-: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5) = 14

mdt |

Whip, who is initiating the attack?
Rocket races up the street and stops at the intersection ahead of the car, dropping Violet to her feet on the concrete as it gets about 100 ft away.

Hotaru Hoshiko |

Smoke feather is the mark, iirc.

mdt |

At this point, Rocket failed his int check to realize it's the wrong car (similar make and model, darkness, distracted by carrying Violet (Ooooh, I'm carrying her, oh god I hope she doesn't realize I can fell her <blank>)). So, I'm not sure how Pulse is going to call it off, she already said no twice...

Whippoorwill |

Well, Pulse hasn't responded to my last message, where I've basically told her what I'm going to do. I'm still unsure why Aegis would have called for the attack, so we'll see where this goes.

Project Violet |

Not -3, Target 3, as in, you needed 1,1,1. At that speed, without the rapid eyesight, your penalties were about -12.
Yeah, I realized too late to edit my post that what you wrote and what I read were different - either way, I missed the role dramatically.
I'm still unsure why Aegis would have called for the attack, so we'll see where this goes.
Part of me is metagame wondering if Aegis is just drunk and surly - she has been hitting that flask pretty hard.
As Violet regains her footing, pulling her scarf out of her face and being grateful she remembered to bring her shades with her to protect her eyes (for, uh... "snow glare" purposes... yeah...), she reaches out to the car in question with her mind to see if she can get a good read on the people driving in it.
Mind Scan 10d6: 10d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4, 2, 2, 4, 5, 4, 4) = 37
Once she has their minds on lock, she will attempt to get surface readings of the occupants - their general mood, their level of aggression, and so forth.
Telepathy 10d6: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 4, 2, 5, 4, 5, 6, 5) = 40
Please let me know if I figure out anything that would monkey-wrench the current plan, as I haven't used the preview function to get a look at my rolls, so hopefully this works.

Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |

OOC this is a shit storm waiting to happen, IC to her these guys are as bad as a meta. They pissed her off so she wants to stop them

Hotaru Hoshiko |

Pulse didn't 'listen' to Aegis's text. She knows where it went, but didn't 'see' it. Then Pulse didn't notice the tiny spoiler to Pulse. It's odd, because I saw one addressed to rocket and violet, which is in the same post, but never saw the one for me. Hotaru would have called it off if she had the chance and people would listen. Blame my inattention, I guess. Hotaru would likely send the same text message to both Aegis and Whip and let them work out that last bit.

Whippoorwill |

This is bad, this is bad, this is bad. :(
Pulse's silence in return to her last message, plus the now-or-never spot where the vehicle was about to reach, made her decision for her. She dives down on an intercept course toward the sedan, then flings a smokescreen quill in the vehicle's path.
Ranged: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) = 10
Then she tries to land on the car right before it enters the smoke.
Flight: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6) = 9

Hotaru Hoshiko |

"Errr, wait, what? Why are we attacking exactly..?" Pulse sends to each cell phone in turn.
Sorry, between returning the rental car, then getting called out for a last ditch effort at RP before christmas, and no one showing up, I didn't have time to get a post up for this. Just got home a few minutes ago.

Project Violet |

Welp, I was hoping to get a GM reply to my mind scans and telepathy before the stuff hit the fan, but if we're goin', we're goin'...

Whippoorwill |

I really don't want to do this, but I feel that my hands are tied since I botched that roll and didn't hear back from Pulse in time. Otherwise, it'll look like I've based my action on knowing that the attack will be on the wrong target.

Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |

Aegis's text did say to wait until pulse got out to attack so that would be reason not to attack yet

mdt |

Sorry, the GM is still sick, and literally threw up for the first time in 12 years about 30 minutes ago. My wife and mother keep getting on me to eat leftovers, which I avoid. I did today, and the leftovers were off. Last time I eat leftovers more than a day old again.
Violet, your mind scan and your telepathy are in the same MP, that means you have to drop the MS to use the Telepathy, which means you can't use the two together (I think we had this conversation before, but it's possible one of us forgot or imagined it) :)
How bad could it possibly get, low is bad, high is not as bad: 1d100 ⇒ 51 Meh range
Violet feels four minds in the car. Int check to pick up on something off
I'll wait for Violet's int check before we adjudicate Whip's attack

Project Violet |

Yeah, I know I have to drop one to use the other - which is why I did one, then the other, with a pause for effect in between. However, once I get a lock on one of the minds, I should be able to use telepathy against that mind as though I had line of sight - which is what I'm looking for, here.
Never fear, I'm lookin' out. Also, dude, if you have to, put the game on pause until you get better. Game not important, health important.
Violet tilts her head to the side, her massive bug-eye sunglasses slipping down her nose as she does so.
"Huh..."
Int Check 13-: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) = 8
If successful:
"Hold up, something's not right here..."
If not successful:
Violet continues to probe around, looking for the previously mentioned mood, tension level, etc.

mdt |

The thing is, you only have the lock as long as you have Mind Scan, as soon as you switch slots, you no longer have the power. So you loose the lock. What you'll want to do is buy those slots as Multi's when you get a few points, that will let you split your power points between both mind scan and telepathy. For telepathy, you need line of sight, which you would need to make a perception check for...
However, you made your int check by 5, and pick up on the fact that none of the minds in the car seem familiar to you...
Unfortunately, Whip's already fired her feather at the car. However, you can interrupt her dive to land on the car...

Project Violet |

Then the misunderstanding is on me, as my GM's have always adjudicated it as "once you have a lock, you can use other powers" - my fault. Mind Scan will get a Multi-slot along with Telepathy on the next XP sweep, already on my planner. :)
Violet immediately says into her (still open) call to Whip:
"ABORT! WRONG CAR! There's no one we know in there!"
She turns to Rocket, a very concerned look on her face.

Whippoorwill |

"Son of a--!" Whippoorwill shouts as she pulls out of her dive. She sees the spreading smoke cloud ahead and swears more colorfully in her head. Rather than climb all the way up, she stays low over the car, hoping to help guide the car through the cloud as best she can.
When the car hits the smoke, she grabs the top of the car and beats hard with her wings, trying to blow the obscuring smoke away and give the driver some visibility.
Not sure what skill this calls for, so I'll just roll and let you figure out if I was successful or not.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) = 11

mdt |

Mostly it would require Aegis to have wings...
Combat Driving, 8-: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12 Failure by 4
The driver panics as the feather explodes in front of him, and there are screams from inside the car. There are more from inside as Whip thumps into the top of the car, she struggles mightily to blow the smoke away with her wings, but the car is moving too fast.
The car's breaks slam on as it enters the smoke, and the car careens to the side on the slippery road. It slams into a parked car at about 30 mph.
Whip needs to make a str check at -3 to hold onto the top of the car, or she'll go flying, but not in a controlled way
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 4, 2, 5) = 21
Damage, Passengers: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
The car's front end crumples against the passenger car it hit, the sound of glass shattering fills the air. Inside air bags go off.
Whip flies forward as the car comes to a sudden stop, and slams head first into the parked car the car she was on slammed into!
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 2, 3, 4) = 17
Her wings seem to slow her down though, and she takes only moderate damage from it.
Whip manages to avoid flying off, but the effort puts a major strain on her arms. NND damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Her muscles ache as the car comes to a stop!

Whippoorwill |

Strength 12-3: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5) = 10
Owww. This is not my night, Briana thinks through the haze of pain and confusion. She pushes herself off the car and rolls to her feet, staggering over to the car to check on the passengers.

mdt |

Whip looks into the window, and see's two couples in the car. The driver is a man in his late 20's or early 30's. Blood is dripping from his nose, likely from the airbag going off. The front seat passenger is a woman a little younger. They're dressed up for a night out, the woman is holding her head.
The couple in the back seat look younger, but the two women have a similar look. The girl in the back is touching the front seat woman's shoulder, shaking it lightly. The man in the back has his hand on the arm of the back seat woman, talking.
Then they all seem to notice Whip about the same time. For a moment, they freeze... Then the woman in the front seat and the woman in the back seat both scream in unison!

Whippoorwill |

Paramedics 13: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2) = 13
Briana ignores the screams for a moment to ascertain the injuries of the passengers.
