Guidance on prestige for season 4 faction goals?

Page 22 of the Guide v 4.2 states:

Quote:
Alternatively, beginning with Season 4, each faction has a specific goal it hopes to achieve by the end of the season. A PC who undertakes a creative approach to forward this goal outside of the prescribed faction mission may earn 1 Prestige Point for doing so in place of the Prestige Point gained for the assigned faction mission, at the GM’s discretion.

I like the idea of this, but I'm a little unsure of how it will work in practice. Is there any advice that can be offered on how to adjudicate this new way of gaining prestige? I know there will always be room for GM discretion, but anything that can be done to reduce table variance that would cause bad feeling among players is welcome.

A supplementary question: can this method of gaining prestige be used when playing scenarios from earlier seasons that are set in the relevant part of Golarion?

I can't speak to the first question, Paz, but based on past experience, I'd say that the answer to your second is "no." Older seasons should be run and played as they were intended on their release date, which means that prestige is earned by completing specific faction tasks.

I think a couple of concrete, relevant examples would go a long way toward helping GMs figure out what sort of thing would count here.

Thanks!

Recuitment A few mooks, instead of being fought/killed are recruited as agents for your faction. Perhaps a character marries an important NPC over the course of a module.

Prevention Preventing another faction from accomplishing a goal that conflicts w/your faction's goal in a way that avoids player conflict. Probably the most difficult and should be invoked only when the faction mission conflicts with the overall goal of your faction.

Sacrifice Character gives up something personally important on behalf of the faction.

Legendary Awesomness Basically this is "I do this for Taldor!' on such an epic scale that the legend of your deeds spread. You pull something unique/cool that will never occur in another playing, out of your rear end. Thank god for the reward creative solutions!

Overall, I think this will come up on a case by case basis and be rare, but it will happen, the GM, most of the table will be going, that was so awesome and high fiveing you.
