Nearly all of our panels and major events were filmed by brewmeister Ted Thompson this year. They'll be up on Paizo's YouTube channel in the near future.

I would have liked to gone but could only afford Gen-con this year. At least I will be able to go for the full 4 days this time.

We heard that a lot of people made the hard choice between Paizcon and Gencon this year - on being Wayne Reynolds. A HUGE thanks to everyone who made the choice to visit lovely Seattle as opposed to __________ Indianapolis.

Hmmm... Wasn`t it Paizo who requested people stop sending in child endangerment stories for the PFS open call?

Summoners can no longer have their eidolons and use their summon monster class ability at the same time. They can dismiss and recall their eidolon at any time, however, so they can swap them out.

This sounds interesting. Free Action to dismiss or what? Are Summoners themselves still d8/medium BAB? Any specific changes to the Eidolon itself?

Jared Ouimette wrote:
Witches familiars and the spells they got that were based on those familiars have been seperated. Now familiars are simply conduits to a "patron", and you can choose any combo of familiars and patrons. Its supposed to give witches more freedom.

Sounds good. Hopefully there will be more nuanced Class Abilities tied to those Patrons as well... And perhaps ways to change Patrons?

Yes, and such definitely stands. There might just be more to the story than "Lets go murder some kid." :P

this could also be a Joe vs. the Volcano thing where the child has some incurable disease and his family is getting paid lots of gold for his sacrifice.

Or maybe the kid is possessed by a demon and has already killed 12 tribes of natives. They need to sacrifice him to the god in order to cleanse their land of his taint.
Or maybe he's an alien... You never know!

Just because we grew tired of being flooded with child endangerment stories in an open call format doesn't mean that we're closed to considering the same, now and then, from established novelists or game designers.

And as Wes says above... there's more to the story than what we can summarize in a brief description.

did we get all the news on upcming releases or are you saving any scoops for GenCon?

Scarab Sages

I child endangerment story might not be so bad, if the players were compelled to be children as well. One thing I really heard at the "Opening the Lodge to Minors" seminar was the need to have kid characters that are not just victims, but heroes. Heroes in the "Wizard of Earthsea", "Chronicles of Prydain", "Harry Potter" vein.

Believe me, you will be hearing more from me on that subject this summer.

Definitely. The story is all about a divine plague that is supposed to only be stoppable by sacrificing a specific child that's been marked by the local jungle god responsible. The "heroes" - members of a former adventuring group who have little love for each other anymore - get called together against their will to make sure the child (who understands and accepts his fate) makes it safely to the sacrifice spot. Along the way, the protagonists have to deal with their own consciences and feelings about the idea of sacrificing one to save many.

So yeah, expect to see something a bit deeper than mustache-twirling. :)

I'm sorry I didn't get that.

Forgive me asking, but why would a summoner use summon monster if he can summon his Eidolon at will. Perhaps fever made me slow in the head, but I don't get it.

My first thought would be the need for multiple creatures. If you need more bodies on the field, using higher level summon monster spells to summon lower level creatures will do the trick.

Since he can't use the Augment Summoning feat these summons will suck.

Also I really like the idea of the Eidolon getting flank bonus from a summoned creature.

Flexibility for one. If his eidolon is not suited for the encounter at hand, he can use his summons to get a creature that is more suitable.

Second is death. If his eidolon dies, he cannot summon it again until the next day, but he can continue to use his summons to get useful creatures.

Good points. I still think It's a bit sad the Augment Summoning feat doesn't aply to spell like abilities, but that said it's not a huge problem.

The change to the witch is great.

One the limit to summons does that eidolin or summons only count with the spell like ability? or any summons spell?

In case any DMs are scared that the Advanced Player's Guide is all or mostly stuff for players, DMs get plenty of cool toys, too. :D

For example, the anti-paladin... and it sounds nice. ;)

The APG has Four new Combat Maneuvers.

Dirty Trick - Which is pulling a guy's cloak over his face or something like that.

Drag - The opposite of Bull Rush, moving backwards and pulling a guy along with you.

Reposition - Moving the target without moving yourself.

Steal - It's difficult to pull off, but you can snatch items away from people in combat. Held items are off limits, but stuff like amulets or brooches (and I'm guessing sheathed weapons) will be fair game.

The spell-less ranger was one of the few archetypes we were specifically told about. The others were the naked barbarian, the free-hand fighter, and the mobile fighter (move + full attack as standard action!).

Thanks for the information.

Did you get any information on these class variants?
What is a free-hand fighter?
Is the the mobile fighter the only class that will be able to use iterative attacks? Can he/she use it at will?
What is the naked barbarian?
Any details on the spell-less ranger?
Did you get any info on any bard variant or any bard feats?
Did you get any info on the shadow monk?

Did anyone else notise the photo on Jason posted on the Blog? He looked really slim and handsome. I hope that derives from a diet and not from too much work and too many pestering fans. Anyway. Looking at one of the pictures it seems he is very tall. Is that so? Anyone know how tall he is?

You're weird, and you ask alot of questions.

However, the free hand fighter basically swaps feats for class abilities. Instead of sword and board, a two handed weapon, a ranged weapon or dual wielding, he wield one handed weapons and uses his empty off hand to screw with his opponents (like lowering their shield, assumedly depriving them of a shield bonus, etc.)

The mobile fighter is probably the only class that can move and make a full attack.

The naked barbarian is...naked. His/her inherent nakedness catches his/her enemies off guard, giving him/her an AC bonus, or something. The artwork is going to be awesome.

The other stuff I don't know much about. I do know, however, that a new book coming out next year (the magic book) has a gish class called the Magus.

Jason is slightly taller than me, I think, and I'm 6'2''.

Speaking of juicy, congrats to having a mini of your book's primary character made! I can't make it to GenCon, which means I might have to beg one of these off of somebody who's gonna be there....

The Blog today was nice.

The antipaladin class. Nasty thing. This alternate paladin will indeed keep the players up at night.
The smite good attack deals double damage to paladins and good-aligned clerics on the first successful attack. That is logical but shouldn't its as well deal double damage to good-aligned outsiders?
When I read the errata to the smite I thought the wording "first successful attack" was wrong, but the same wording is used here so I guess it's correct. Very nice and very mean.
So the antipaladin can actually miss there first attack without loosing their double smite bonus. All of us who like to play clerics pr Paladins now live in fear.
Edit: And the art is great, just fantastic. I like the antipaladin. Evil grin but sort of happy the same time. Mean.

Cool. I've had this great idea of a happy and friendly gnome Barbarian/bard character without armor only wearing shoes and all covered with bodypaint. (perhaps a loincloth at solemn occasions). I later discovered you can't use perform when you rage so no Bard/barbarian. A shame really, he was funny. A naive and possitive barbarian who wanted to be friends with everyone, but who went berserk when anyone got hostile. One of those character who never would start a fight. He would only use his flail if someone hurt him or his friends first.
