Annie will use her Domain power Adoration - the monkey must make a DC 15 will save or he can't bring himself to hurt her - like the spell Sanctuary.

Annie does her best to protect Jon as she sees him fall.

If she can stand over him to defend him, she will. Whether she can or she can't, she will defensively attempt to Aid Another to provide him a +2 bonus to his AC again.

I am confused...I will assume you rolled a monkey will save for the monkey attack on round 4 and he made the will save successfully...

Annie will use her Domain power Adoration a second time this round to attempt to stop the monkey bite - DC 15 will save or he didn't hit her.

I'm not sure why you rolled a second attack roll for the round when I rolled above. I did hit AC 10, so I did successfully aid Jon vs. attacks from monkey #5 - with either attempt.

As to the monkey, you did touch it with your Domain power, but there was no reaction from the monkey and with your wisdom you realized that it didn't simply resist your power, it is flat immune to mind-affecting powers.

As to rolling the second attack; I assumed that since Jon had stood up at the time you had said you were standing over him defending him, you would have changed your action to attack the monkey with your sword.
I apologize if I misread your intentions; you can certainly change your action in light of your realization.

Making a long story short...

Under the combined attacks of the company, the last two savage monkeys go down; as the others, when they die they erupt in a frenzy of biting and then they erupt in a noisome splash of acid. Fortunaely, no one else took damage from either.

The jungle is unnaturally silent once again.

"You know more about the natural world than the rest of us...I only know that despite their ability to fight when another creature would be dead, they were alive...but twisted. Have you heard of something like this?"

Annie thinks about how they seemed so unnaturally violent...almost rabid, only somehow worse.

Can Annie make a knowledge check or heal check to note that people have been infected with something?

Annie seems terribly worried as she starts treating the injuries sustained in the fight.

It is only a minute later her worst fears are borne out as Annie, Bindlplotz and Spinnaker Jon, who all have monkey bites, see their flesh around their injuries turn a terrible black rash and short bony protrusions extrude from the affected areas, as well as the forehead, back of the hands and knuckles, and the canine teeth.
A brief surge of rage and their eyes turn blood red for a minute.

Annie takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 of Intelligence damage.
Bindlplotz takes 1d6 ⇒ 1 of Intelligence damage.
Jon takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 of Intelligence damage.

Fortunately, the sudden transformation seems to peter out at this point, the eyes fading back to normal, but not the skin or bony protrusions. But they all seem more prone to anger now.

Of all the ones bitten by the monkeys, only Ghirrak remains unaffected.

Heal check DC14:

You realize that this is a Supernatural Disease, and is probably what happened to the wildlife around here.
We'll call this disease "Savage Fever".
Based on other supernatural diseases you've encountered or read about, the fever will attack again daily until you succumb; probably devolving into a mindless berserker like those monkeys, but you should be able to hold out a three-four more days at least, long enough to get to civilization for help.

Assuming you all go forward...

After another hour of working your way through the unnaturally quiet jungle, littered with the skeletal remains of horribly twisted animals (and a few trees), you come out on the edge of the cliff overlooking the narrow inlet about half a mile inland.

In the sheltered cove below, an inferno rages atop the water. Several ships, including a two-masted caravel, a sizeable frigate, a long barge, and what might have once been a schooner are all ablaze. Further out, a three-masted caravel seems to have escaped the fire-- for now.

A shiny slick on the surface of the water itself burns as well, creating a wall of wood and flame. The heat rises in searing sheets, and the roar of the flaming maelstrom mixed with the crashing surf masks any other sounds that might be issuing up from below.

Through periodic gaps in the smoke, however, movement on the beach at the end of the inlet is visible--something still lives in the inferno below.

You are on the cliff about 60 feet over the waterline. There are several ways to get down.

*Climb: Sheer cliffs with numerous handholds-- DC15 climb check, DC10 with a rope, DC5 with knotted rope.

*Rickety wooden walkway: There is an elderly wooden walkway from the cliff top switchbacking down to the beach, DC10 Acrobatics check; though it looks like it might give way at any moment.

*Dive: The inlet is deep enough for ships, it ought to be deep enough to dive in. DC15 Acrobatics or Swim.

With a running jump he dived off the cliff, his parrot taking wing...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
... and made a perfect dive into the middle of the inlet, making little splash. Swimming to the surface he gave his companions a fanged grin and a thumbs up before starting to swim towards a part of the beach not blocked by flaming oil covered water.
The parrot flew to the crows nest of the three masted caravel to perch and watch everything unfold for his amusement.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie looks on with surprise as Dgrim jumps the last 10 feet, then pulls up the rope once he drops off and ties her silk rope on the end of it. she drops it back into the water and begins slowly climbing down (taking 10).

"Now we can get back up without using that creaking walkway," she said, pointing at the rope hanging down into the water. "I'd never be able to make it up the cliff face without it. Let's get out of the water...some of us aren't part fish," she muttered as she did her best to swim toward the portion of the shore Jon was nearing.

CLICK for the Overview.
Squares are 10', North is to the right.

When you get to the shore you see that a wide beach separates the burning waters of Kraken's Cove from the cliffs to the east.

A ten foot wide cave opens at the base of the cliff to the east, while to the southeast several planks provide a crude bridge across a tide pool to a second, smaller cave entrance.

The swaths of blood and ragged body parts strewn across the beach testify to a terrible and recent battle upon the sands here. Broken crates and bamboo cages litter the area, blood and bits of bone sprayed across bolts of silk and cracked barrels of ambergris seeping into the coarse, rocky sand. A number of mangled corpses, each stripped nearly clean of flesh and bones cracked open, lie strewn about the beach. The casualties are staggering, with a quick count putting the dead somewhere north of twenty.

Uh, Bindlplotz will catch up to the others...

When Bindlplotz is certain everyone has made the beach alright, he slings his musket and begins carefully navigating the rotten walkway.

Naturally, it is at this point that the hawsers mooring the burning ship "Slippery Eel" finally burn through and SNAP audibly. The Eel wrenches free and the tidal surge carrys it careening into the north wall of the cove, where it destroys the central section of the walkway with a terrific crash.

One of the planks under Bindlplotz' feet gives way under the shock and he must make a Reflex save to avoid being knocked off the walkway.

"Oi! Not Good! NOT GOOOOOOD!"

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Bindlplotz zigs when he should have Zagged....as his foot steps into thin air...

CLICK for the Overview.

Bindlplotz must make a Swim or Acrobatics check DC15 or he takes 2d3 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 points of nonlethal damage as he cannonballs into the water; A 1 or 2 on the die means he crashed into the deck of the burning ship, with the attendant risks that occur naturally when fire meets gunpowder...;)

And Bindlplotz could swear that the damn parrot was laughing at him as he fell...

"Oh fer @!@#$ sake!" Spinnaker Jon curses savagely. "Alright, I'll go help the little bugger." He dives back into the water to go help Bindlplotz.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Shoot the parrot on the way down

Bindlplotz takes a snap shot at the parrot on the way down, but because of smoke, flame and rushing the shot, produces nothing but outraged squawking and a few drifting feathers as he plunges remarkably well into the water.
With Spinnaker Jon's help, Bindlplotz finally makes it back to the beach with the others.

Bindlplotz:

Your powder is pretty secure, but maintenence requrements for the guns demand that you immediately unload, clean and dry all four of your guns to avoid misfires and corrosion.

As Annie watches Bindlplotz begin to care for his guns, she scratches her head, trying to think through the roiling emotions the disease is clouding her mind with. "Would some clean water from my spell help? Or just make things worse?" she asks uncertainly. "Are we...do we need to search the water for whatever's in that boat? the one tied here on the dock...before it catches fire too?"

even with ranged touch?? CMON!!! LOL

Don't make me total up all those penalties Gunslinger Boy...;) Look! Annies going to help you!

To clairify, the unburned ship nearest to you is actually beached and canted at a 30 degree angle, and it is in some danger of catching fire.

Annie conjured some water into her waterskin and handed it over to Bindlplotz, then ran up toward the beached ship, casting again above the ship beached in front of them. The wind blew some of the water falling from the sky into her face, but she hoped it would do some good at keeping the ship from catching fire. If she soaked the hull of the ship, it might help.
