As the son of a Tian-Min scholar and a Taldan historian, it was long thought that Amodeus would become a renoun Pathfinder scholar himself, learning about the history and the tales of the world. So he was tutored frequently in history, while being absolutely bored by it. He had no interest in being a recorder of history - he wanted to make his own.
So did Amodeus take up swordcraft, not just in order to fight, but to create as well - better to trust in the weapons and armor you've made yourself than the ones picked out of a bargain bin. He apprenticed himself for a time to a local blacksmith to learn the finer part of creating weapons, before setting off to start and make a name for himself in the Serpent's Run hippodrome, earning some appraise for his performances in their mock battles, showing a preference for fighting with two weapons. After a while, he assumed the moniker 'Talon' to differentiate himself from his parentage (Along with always disliking his given name).
It wasn't long though that the accomplishments in battles for entertainment wore thin for him. Wanting to make more of a name for him, he did joined the Pathfinder society, not as a scholar and record keeper but an adventurer, wanting nothing more than to make his own fame and fortune in the world, to be noteworthy in the annals of history. He may yet get his wish...
