I'm never seeing these movies. Meyers and Chris Weitz flat out pissed me off with this story.

First off, and I had suspicions about this when I first heard about Twilight, Stephanie Meyers making werewolves a metaphor for gays and homos was insulting. I did a bit of research on this, and what else does the line "It's not a lifestyle choice, Bella. I was born this way." mean besides a shallow "I'm Gay!".

Why not have him say: "What other choice do I have, Bella? Sure, I could just let myself go and do whatever the hell my insticts urged me to do, but you know what, I will not. I've got more self control than that. Vampires like Edward barely have that kind of control. They exist only to feed on humans, just like you. How else can you explain his actions when he smells blood?"

Do I need to go further on this subject? Yes, I will. Jacob's pack all come off as girly men attracted to each other from what I've found. Sure, they hunt vampires, but what else do they do? Taunt one of their own for having a potential "girlfriend". What the hell? Real men don't do this, unless they exist in bad films or television shows.

So, considering that, what other conclusion could you draw, other than lycanthropy is Meyer and Weitz's way of bringing a gay undertone to a lackluster story?

This is why films like this are sucking at the box office. People are catching on to this crap, and it shows. We're not stupid, Hollywood.

Before anyone posts on this, I'm aware that two, three if you count Mazes and Monsters (*gags loudly*), Dungeons and Dragons films have been made and that they suck, badly.

As a side note, FOX had a, if you can believe it, Vampire the Masquerade TV show back in 1996, but due to plot confusion to non-gamers and other factors, the show ended after only eight episodes. Ouch. (Sci-Fi shows it every so often, or you can buy it on DVD.)

However, considering all the RPGs out there, I can easily see another film that is based on one of them coming to light some time later. However, instead of non-gaming script writers, the publisher's writers should be the ones that write the script for such a thing, since they know how to present their work best.

Of all the companies I know, White Wolf's World of Darkness series, old or new, would be my top pick. Werewolf, my personal favorite, Hunter, Mage, and Geist are the four I'd want to see.

Potential others -

Midnight: Second Edition - Think Lord of The Rings, except this story begins after Sauron wins in the end.
Unknown Armies - In this game, your characters deal with the weirdness and realization of magic in a modern day setting.
Call of Cthulhu - Need I say it? H.P. Lovecraft's monsters and stories started horror fiction.

Agree? Disagree? Have another idea? Say so.

"In regards to all the gore, remember that they brought on Rick "American Werewolf in London" Baker to help with the creature and special effects. Cutting back on gore with him would be like asking Ray Harryhausen to not use so much stop-action."

That may be so, but from my experience, werewolf movies that lack a good script, or a good director, have a bad habit of adding a load of gore where it isn't really needed.

And I can name several:

The Feeding
Dark Moon
Werewolf
Night Shadow

American Werewolf in London is one of my favorite werewolf movies, but it was so well written and paced that I didn't mind all the gore.

Now, if only White Wolf would approve a story from Werewolf: The Forsaken for filming. I'd love to see a film like THAT.

Indeed. My friend, who was watching the film with me, predicted that outcome also, and sure enough, once it came, the entire theater started laughing.

Both of these films had good effects for the werewolves/wolves. However, as much as I liked seeing a dire wolf sized creature in the New Moon preview on iTunes, I'm not seeing the movie. I do admire the work they did on the animation, though, and I'd like to see that used more often.

The Wolfman, on the other hand, was fun to watch, but had too many weak parts to make it a good film.

Wolfman spoiler:
Having Chancey's father as the original Wolfman was ok, but it felt cheap and quickly decided on. Also, the buckets of gore could've been cut back on some.
The original was a classic and this remake only proves that.

Now, the letter from that fan is ridiculous to the point of idiocy. Meyer may be a good author when it comes to appealing to young girls, and that's fine, but this kind of fandom, unfortunately, only proves how foolish some Twilight fans can be.

If you're a fan of Id Software, try:

DOOM RPG - I love this game.
Wolfenstein RPG - This is about a week old by now.
Orcs and Elves I and II - I own the first one, and love it.

Aside from those, I don't know.

I just found something I think you'll like.

Go here: http://mrgone.rocksolidshells.com/nwod.html

It has Character Sheets for everything you could want.

On history, not really. I own about half the books, including Rage and Pure, but they focus more on current times.

White Wolf may reopen the old lines, but since you have WtWW, use that. Just strip out the thirteen tribes and the old forces, then reapply the new stuff. As for weapons and equipment, try and borrow a copy of Armory and translate the WtWW weapons using that book.

Hopefully, this film will be at A-Kon. The guys I'm going with are big RPG folks.

Thank you.

Silverwolf, I demand you reveal your location!

Do you live near Houston?

I'm a new RPG guy, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.

I'm looking for a good price or deal on d10 dice sets. I'm a World of Darkness/Scion person and no one seems to sell good sets of these dice in groups of more than ten.

Any advice? Thanks in advance for any reply.

Half-Price Books is my new favorite bookstore, after B&N.

I've found Vampire: The Requiem, Scion: Hero, The Black Company, Exalted, Midnight and MET there. I noticed a Pathfinder book on the shelves the last time I was there. Hopefully, it's not gone by the time my next paycheck arrives.
