Silver Mask, originally Silver Assasin, was the 43rd to bear the name and mask of the Silver Assassins. A hereditary group of killers for hire, each were trained by from parent to child in the arts of assassination, stealth, and telekinetic arts. It was this 43rd generation where the line was broken. The 42nd Silver Assassin was unable to bear children to continue the line. Believing this to be the end of the line of Silver Assassins, he thought he found a way to continue the tradition.
The night of one of his missions, he was to bring death to an entire family. He knew not why, only that the one who hired him demanded that none be left alive. The night of the attack, he was quick, efficient. Yet as he worked, he felt a presence, one he had felt from his father as he taught him the arts. It was in the last room he found the source. A nursery with a new born child, one who possessed the same strengths his own bloodline did. How could this be? But it mattered not to him. This child was not on his list, and could be his line's last hope. Taking the child he fled into the night.
He raised the young girl as his own daughter. In this, he was as harsh with her as his own father had been with him. He deprived her of a name, for their line only took a name when they took the mantle of the Silver Assasin. She would be known as 'girl' until then. Days were spent training, nights recovering and preparing for the next day. When he was on a mission, she would practice what she had been taught. There was no time for friends, for companionship. Only the training.
When she turned 15, the Silver Assassin thought it was time for her to earn her first kill. The mission was to be simple. A reporter had been pushing too far into some businessmen's affair. They were to find his information and end his investigation, permanently. Entering the home was simple enough, doing so before he returned so they could find the evidence and prepare a trap. He planned to let his daughter take the kill, only interfering if necessary.
So when the reporter came home, the girl flew into action. Yet she was not prepared, nor was her father, when the man shattered the bonds she had wrapped around him telekinetically. No, this man was something different, he was a superhero. No, that wasn't right. This was a supervillain. Her father stepped in, the two battling in front of her. The battle was fierce, her father skilled at his trade. But this man was better, if only slightly. In the end, the villain one.
The girl had been too afraid to intervene, but she wouldn't run. And now she lashed out with everything she had. To no effect. Thrown into a wall, she attempted to recover, beliving she was soon to join her father when a sudden sound and a flash drew her attention. Trained reflexes had her hiding before the heroes came through the house, and another battle erupted. The villain managed to escape, but while the fight ensued, the girl made up her mind.
The Silver Assassins had come to an end, at least for now. But she wanted revenge. So a planned form inside her head. She would take on a new name, at least for now. She would become the Silver Mask, and she would become a hero. At least until she found the villain who killed her father. And with his death, the Silver Assassin would be reborn.
GM NOTE: Who this villain is and if you choose to use him I've left up to your care at this point. If you decide not to use these background elements, that's fine, but it's there as a tool for you to use if you so choose.
