As the title says, what's your favorite character(s) from the Paizo era of Dungeon magazine? Personally I often choose prepublished adventures based on whether I think the opponents are interesting and would be fun to use.

I think I'd have to be cliché and say my favorite Paizo NPC is Lashonna, from the Age of Worms adventure path. There's just something about her scheming and the incongrous nature of a silver dragon vampire that appeals to me.

Let me know what you think...

Slight bump!

Thank you very much for your answer, mr Jacobs. That's really cool, seeing who did what... I love "peeks behind the scenes" like that.

I realize why so many of those creatures were featured in the AP's as well now!

Well, my first real topic sure got derailed fast. :(

So I was reading through some older issues of Dragon and Dungeon (Thank you great Paizo magazine sale!) and I read some editorials by Erik and James about how much the loved monsters, and how working for WotC had let them introduce these creatures as official D&D creatures.

I'm curious which creatures were created by the Paizo writers... I noticed both the MMII and the Fiend Folio for 3rd ed had James and Erik on the credits page, so they've clearly been involved there, and of course the creatures introduced in the AP issues of Dungeon... But which critters were done by what person?

Just something I've been wondering about.

Are the cookies slaad-baked cookies?

Thanks all!

Greetings and salutations! Beware of those offering cookies.

I wasn't born yesterday, fortunately. ;)

Might as well make it official.

Hi, I've lurked on this forum for some time now (and been quite active at other forums from time to time).

So... hi.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Actually, that's not really accurate. My lurking has been extremely spotty. I've been on other forums for my RP discussions, mostly.

Thank you though.

I know I totally missed the boat on this. Really, I know I did.

Dragon (and to a lesser extent Dungeon) have been important parts of my life as a roleplayer, heck as a gamer in general. I got into the magazine during Roger Moore's editorship and got as many issues as I could get my hands on, sometimes just to read.

I'd fallen out of the habit of reading it for some years when 3rd edition hit and the magazines became slicker and more stylish, with some truly great new writers getting the spotlight. And the Paizo era of the magazines truly managed to stimulate my imagination and my sense of wonder.

The sense of loss when I saw that both magazines were being canceled as printed editions and that a mostly all-new staff were taking over was profound. Even now, I can't believe I can't go to my gaming store and page through the latest issue.

So, to the whole Paizo crew, and to everyone who worked on those two magazines during their long runs... you have my thanks. You've made me laugh, and cry, and most importantly made me think. Gotten the rusty wheels of imagination spinning.
