About Miguel de Cervantes

Rocinante ("Rocky") is the star of the show, Miguel is just the poor bastard with language skills, thumbs and the ability to spend money for a sufficient supply of hard cider and apples. And magical swag for the horse of course.

Drawback: Unlearned
Traits: Crusader Tactician; Regional Influence (Korvosa); Roll with It; Trunau Native [with GM permission/encouragement]

Feats: Mounted Combat, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge (gendarme bonus feat)

Prepaid cost of living for both himself and Rocinante ("Rocky") for 1 month at 10 gp/month each.

Skills: Climb, Diplomacy +6, Handle Animal +11 for Rocinante, Ride +6 with Rocinante, Sense Motive +6 (+7 vs. Bluff); Kn (eng, nobility) +6, Prof (eng) +6 are his background skills.

Miguel has assumed the mantle of his recently deceased uncle's oath to Trunau after finalizing the siege of Citadel Vraid a bit less than 2 years ago (thus starting the seeds of what became my dead-on-the-vine Jade Regent campaign) with his uncle mentoring him in the knightly arts of siege warfare. From there they traveled to Sandpoint where he acquired Rocinante. A second trade caravan was assembling to collect valuables from across Varisia and Avistan before heading north to cross the Crown of the World.

He and his uncle were amongst the caravan's guards. Ogres are ogres, and they attempted to procure some snacks both bipedal and quadrupedal from the caravan. Sadly, his uncle and his uncle's horse were cut in two by the second ogre after the first ogre was skewered by his uncle's spirited charge and skewering via lance. Miguel learned the Roll with It trait and a lesson regarding the combination of Ride-by Attack and Spirited Charge in that fight, shattering his lance in the torso of the last ogre's chest. He buried his uncle and his uncle's horse near a shrine of Desna, took up his uncle's lance and furled the banner that is now his before resuming the journey back to Trunau.
