Introduction:

The door opens. In its frame stands a small armored figure, covered head to toe in soot and wielding a chimney broom. As the miniature knight steps forward, it becomes clear that she is a halfling. Her jet-black locks, tightly braided and bound, are only slightly darker in hue than the charcoal soot and ash smudging her cheeks.

She steps forward with a bright and cheerful smile. "Hi! I'm Juniper. Juniper Berrythw—OOMPH!" She trips over her much-too-long cloak, a cloud of soot exploding off her armor as she falls face first onto the floor and her chimney broom skitters across the room.

As she stands, Juniper removes the blindfold that was covering her eyes and attempts to dust herself off, but her small soot-covered hands merely smear the soot across her mithral armor.

"Sorry about that. Here, let me get that for you. Oh, look I've gone and smudged your floor. Don't worry, it's good clean soot, it'll come right out in a jiffy.

"As I was saying, I'm Juniper Berrythwaite, of the Westcrown Berrythwaites. I'm pleased to meet ya." She flashes a big grin and extends her soot-covered hand in greeting.

"I just got back from the Ruins of Bonekeep. It was very scary, but I made sure no one got hurt. Before that, I was sent deep into the Mwangi Expanse in search of a lost Venture Captain. That was quite exciting.

"Enough chatting, where is this chimney that needs sweeping?" she asks as she retrieves her broom and puts her blindfold back on.

Juniper is always cheerful and happy to be along on any adventure. She is always quick to help those in need. Detesting combat, Juniper prefers to try diplomatic channels before resorting to violence. She will talk for hours on end of the magnificence of Apsu and his draconic children to anyone who will listen, and she has found a special rapport with kobolds in her past adventures.

Despite the fact that Juniper is perhaps the clumsiest halfling in the entire Inner Sea, she brings great luck to her adventuring companions.

She often wears a blindfold. If asked about it, she will tell you that she is trying to hone her other senses. It is something she saw some monks doing during one of her previous adventures. It certainly has not made her any less clumsy.

Bot actions for Juniper:
Free Assign a +1 untyped bonus from her +1 guarding darkwood quickdraw shield to an adjacent ally involved in melee (–1 to Juniper's AC; Juniper and the ally must remain adjacent).
Swift Lay on hands (1d6) if she is injured.
Standard Total Defense (gain +8 dodge bonus to AC and CMD).
Move Blunder about (speed 30 ft.) through combat provoking attacks of opportunity and ending adjacent to as many allies as possible (adjacent allies gain a +4 luck bonus to AC/CMD). Juniper gains a +2 bonus on AC and CMD against these attacks of opportunity.

10 Questions:
From 10 questions that'll make your PFS roleplaying blossom

1. Why are you a Pathfinder?
My cousin, Cosmo Berrythwaite, is a Pathfinder. He told me that if I wanted to seek out more knowledge of Apsu, then I should join the Society.

2. Do you have a name and surname that is not ripped straight out of existing Earth mythology or popular culture?
Berrythwaite is a very popular surname among halflings in the Inner Sea region. I am named Juniper after my great aunt Gerty—she drank a lot of gin.

3. Which nation did you grow up in? How did this nation influence you?
I was born into slavery in Cheliax, but my family was emancipated through the Bellflowers when I was a child. We eventually settled in Absalom. The City at the Center of the World is quite a bit different from what I remember of Westcrown.

4. What do you look like? What are your wearing? How does this vary when you’re stalking through forests, sewers, deserts or in glittering cities?
I am usually wearing my mithral armor, but it is almost always covered in soot. I am a chimney sweep, so it is tough to keep my clothes clean, and then the soot just ends up on everything. I like to keep my hair braided and bound up, especially when I'm out adventuring or worming up a dirty flue.

5. What do you love?
My family. Apsu, the Waybringer. My great aunt Gerty says that we have a silver dragon in our ancestry. My father doesn't believe her, but I do. Apsu came to me in a dream and told me that it's true.

6. What do you hate?
I try to let go of my hate, but my slavery was such a powerfully negative experience, it is difficult to not hate the slavers of the world. When I start to feel those feelings, I turn to my copy of The Way for emotional and spiritual support and guidance.

7. Which other Pathfinders do you rely on for teamwork, survival and butt-kicking? Do you have a bro? a mentor? a father figure? maybe a rival?
I have told you about my cousin, Cosmo. He is a professor at the University of Korvosa. His older brother, Arlo, was also a Pathfinder and also a professor at the University, but Arlo died on his very first field assignment for the Society.

I have an older sister, Trixie, but we haven't seen her since we were liberated from Westcrown. I don't know what has become of her, but I pray to Apsu to keep her safe.

8. How does your race influence your views? Are you a stereotype of a certain race? How are you different from most halflings?
I think I'm a pretty typical halfling. But I don't smoke.

9. What are you afraid of? Do you have any phobias or worries?
If your troubles can be overcome then there is no need to worry, and if they can't then worrying won't help.

10. What is your most treasured possession?
I have a well-read edition of The Way, a collection of parables which embody the teachings of Apsu. It doesn't look like much, but great-aunt Gerty gave it to me and so I cherish it.
