Sovereign Court 3/5

-23 HP after being repeatedly dropped by an air elemental

Good thing my character was a Psychonaut with lingering spirit and a healthy constitution. Otherwise he would have been dead.

I would suggest taking a trait that lets you take linguistics as a class skill if there are any. Also Gnome names tend to be garbled words pulled from whatever common language they speak. If you want a good Tian gnome name, use the same naming method that japanophiles use on deviant art by using google translate with random words that sound cool in Japanese.

Also Samurai specifically come from a country call Tian Min, a tropical island. Simply moving over the crown of the world will place you in Tian La, a much more Mongolian culture. While anybody can have class levels as Samurai, Tian La Samurai are probably more like cavaliers/warlords than the romantic depiction of Samurai. Your gnome would have to travel quite a bit farther than just out of the mountains to find a samurai, passing through fantasy mongolia, china, and possibly even korea before reaching Fantasy Japan. So maybe keep that as part of your backstory that every time you put a rank in linguistics you pick up another tian language you know to track what route you took through the world(s?)

One problem I do see with my suggestion is that mechanically it seems that for PFS play, there is only one Tian language.

Paladins don't fall for not being goody goody two shoes. They fall for going against the tenants of their gods. An Ulfen Paladin of Erastil doesn't have to care about the plight of a single slave. He just can't make him suffer anymore than he has to. His only concern is preserving nature whenever and wherever possible. He can also get away with being forced to kill a hostage, so long as he respects the wereguild in doing so as per the laws of his people.

Deliberate malice and severe carelessness cause them to fall. At least that's my understanding of it.

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out what the damage dice for a shield bash with a throwing shield.

A shield bash with a light shield is listed as 1d3 (Based off of the d20pfsrd website) but a throwing shield's damage dice is listed as being 1d6.

Which do I use for a melee shield bash? 1d3 or 1d6?

Also, since you can't normally make a shield out of adamantine, can you still make one based adamantine off the assumption that you're going to use is offensively as a weapon? Would I have to pay 450 gold to make it a masterwork shield and weapon?

I have yet to make a Taldan character for myself. So when I go through the “first steps” series, I think ill make a Taldan character.

Here is the character concept I have: I am thinking of playing a high born Taldan Diplomat.
In terms of character class I am planning on Sorcerer.

For traits I am planning to take World traveler- well I could say that my characters Father was a Diplomat serving at various Taldan Embassies all over the inner sea. So he has Diplomacy as a class skill.

The other trait I’m planning to take Suspicious-...Maybe my character's brother has a problem with Pesh and gambling and he has stolen and lied to my character...too often.... as they were growing up. So my character now takes everything someone says with a grain of salt.So my character will have sense motive as a class skill

I think in order to be a diplomat one has to be skilled in well diplomacy and Sense motive.

I haven’t gotten much further in character development, but does this seem like a plausible Taldan character?

What skills would I need to have a reasonable chance to succeed at Taldan faction missions?

Thanks.

Taldor agents rely on a lot a diverse skills, including knowledge skills. A lot of what you will do can be inferred if you read up in the Lion Blades. Expect a lot of manipulation and backstabbing so skills like Bluff, Diplomacy, Sense Motive and Sleight of hand work really well. If you really want to be a successful Taldan, a Jack of all trades approach works best.

Bards, Rogues and Wizards actually work the best as agents due to their diverse skills and the number of ranks they get. A Sorcerer might struggle with some of the missions that require a specific skill or two to accomplish faction missions, though the same can be said for any class.

Likewise, I am confused and intrigued. I normally think of special event winners earning a special boon. Stars, on the other hand, traditionally have been reserved for GMing scenarios.

I did a quick check of the Pacificon website and game registration, but I couldn't find much regarding Pathfinder. Do you have any paper or digital statement of your accomplishment? Can you link us to any information about the Grand Melee event and its prize list?

Addition: I've found the Warhorn registration for that event, and it simply references a big prize for a table (text reproduced below):

"This is a special Pathfinder Event. The Pathfinder Society is looking for the best of the best from amongst their ranks. The Grand Melee is a 5 round battle against the worst of the worst designed to test the mettle of the Pathfinders while finding their champion. Score points by vanquishing your foes quickly! Help your table score high to win top prize. This 1-round scenario is for all levels (Tier 1-11)."

I wasn't at the event, but I'm increasingly skeptical about the reward of a GM star to every member at a table. Again, any information you can send our way would be helpful.

The bonus star was for only the GM rated highest by his or her players at the end of the Grand Melee, which was me.

I don't have any written proof, but I do have the word of the Bay Area Venture Captain, Mike Azzolino that this was the prize for winning the GM portion of the competition.

I won the GM competition portion of the Grand Melee in Pacificon in Santa Clara, CA and was told I would get an extra star for winning. I haven't received it yet so far. I talked to Mike Az. a while back and he told me that he'll see about it, but so far I still don't have it.

What is a Glutton Magic user, why does it need dead bodies and how isn't this character option banned yet?

A glutton magic user uses Thassilonian Sin magic, in this case Necromancy. You get two extra spell slots per day to prepare necomancy spells but you can never cast spells from your opposition school unless you activate a device with UMD.

It's not banned yet, because in all intents and purposes, it's just another Necromancer with a more restricted spell list.

The player in question is applying his first scenario's credit earned by a pregen to a new wizard. He wants to know: Can he use 2 prestige to pick up a lvl 1 wand to use as his bonded wand to take to the character's next scenario?

In other words, can the terminology in the rulebook

"A wizard can add additional magic abilities to his bonded object as if he has the required item creation feats and if he meets the level prerequisites of the feat... If the bonded object is a wand, it loses its wand abilities when its last charge is consumed, but it is not destroyed and it retains all of its bonded object properties and can be used to craft a new wand."

apply to a wand bought with prestige awards?

It looks as if he can without question if he pays 200 to 'switch' bonded objects - does he need to pay that 200?

Yes he can, provided he pays for the cost to switch. Also note that once the charges are used up his wand is not destroyed like normal wands but remains useless except for the bonded item properties.
