Ian grew up in a small town in mendev but was not interested in the crusades as much but had to serve in the malitia of a small waterings called tula which is little more than a waterstop and a place to get more water for horses. Ian in the milita rode watches on cavalary and was an extremely talented rider. In the militia he was mistreated because he symphthaized with some of the native Iobarian's in mendev and decided to leave becuase he we was discharged for not opressing them. Ian learned to ride more and even how to cast some spells and magic on the side but he was almsot always riding sometimes to demonstrate how to ride to other but kept moving on his horse across northern avistan until he decicded to go east on a whim to Iobaria to investigate the empty expanse with a plauge.
