Appearance
Dressed in an bizarrely decorated black chain and plate outfit, Dr. Hazard is quite possibly the oddest ...person... you've seen all year. His outfit is festooned with all sorts of tools, flasks, and even the odd sprocket. While mostly covered by his odd black armor, what is left to be seen are angular hands and a painfully sharp face with blue veins twisting their way through abnormally pale skin. His head is topped with a black plate helmet that covers most of his face with eyepieces affixed. If ever induced to lift off his "thinking cap" (a rare occurrence), an observer would find dark brown, almost black, short-cropped hair, and dark gray eyes.

Personality
Dr. Hazard is rather intelligent and quite mad. Thelonious tends to stick stubbornly to hypotheses despite 'misbehaving' evidence to the contrary. Normally taciturn and rather circumspect, the young Doctor has been known to become quite effusive when describing a discovery, or when attempting to coerce someone into an 'elixer trial.' While typically described as "not a very nice man," Thelonious nevertheless is extremely, some would say unquestioningly, loyal to his adoptive mother and his friends(this being a total of one and of the imaginary sort(named Finigan)).

Backstory:

When found eating (used) chewing tobacco off of the Hazard family doorstep in lower Brastlework, a waifish and unusually pale Thelonious was accepted into the family with open arms. Naturally intelligent and curious, Thelonious stole the hearts of the hard working Bree and Mora. Bree was so taken by young Thelonious, that he planned to entrust the family alchemy into his hands. Catching wind of this the natural born brothers and sisters Hazard were not pleased. Seeking to discredit their 'pet-brother,' they set to making Thelonious' life a living hell. It seemed that the once rising star of Thelonious was falling as experiment after experiment ended in failure or disaster. The hazard childrens' plan had worked, and Thelonious was disgraced in Bree's eyes. When Bree passed away some few months later, a successor was named.

It was not Thelonious.

Tormented by his failures and the loss of his adopted father, Thelonious fell in to the misery of (self-brewed, of course) drink. Mora, Thelonious' kindly adoptive mother saw this decline of such a once-young and bright boy, and was distraught. She convinced Derin Hazard (the new family-manager) to send Thelonious on a mission to revive his spark. Having gotten what he wanted, Derin was ambivalent and allowed his mother to do as she wished with 'that disgrace to the family.'

Set to the task of entering the world and finding new alchemical substances to reinvigorate the business, Thelonious believed it to be his destiny to discover bring back the wonders of the world. In his mind he saw Derin apologizing for not recognizing such an amazing intellect, while acknowledging his own shortcomings, and handing the reins of the company over the Thelonious. Having decided that being near the center of the world would hasten his search and experimentation, Thelonious adopted the prefix Doctor (to make himself sound more respectable) and set out for Absalom on the 'Sea Devil's Maiden.'

Everything seemed to be going spot-on for the young Doctor. He had made a new acquaintance(his first, ever, how exciting!) in the guise of Val Greenleaf(who no matter how pressed, wisely refused all experimental tonics). Not only that but he was well on his way to a new discovery, vitriolic mephitis. Unfortunately, while stopped for supplies in Cassomir, Thelonious' concoction ate through the flask containers. Needless to say, Dr. Hazard was deposited on shore with all due haste. Out of funds for further travel, Thelonious has decided to make the best of it in Cassomir.
