"As we appear to be on the right lines it would be useful to know a little about our enemy. Has anyone any experience of fighting or dealing with Mites? Also, going on the assumption that the old man is as mad as a box of frogs does anyone have any idea what a Fangberry is?"

"Fangberry? Perhaps a berry with fangs?" Gaelen raised his eyebrow as he tries to think back to his exploration of the wilds to see if he can find out what he fangberry might possibly be.

"I remember now. These Fangberries are bittersweet in taste. We will know what they look like because they are normally in shades of green with blue spots." Gaelen smiles as he remembers having actually tired one. "However, they get their name because the smell attracts spiders and the richest tasting berries grow near the heart of the thicket, not to mention the plant will have very sharp thorns so if we try to pick the best ones we'll need someone who is nimble or we can all take our time slowly trying to grab a few."
He looked to the group, curious if anyone would actually want to try one of these things with him. Perhaps he could grasp the best one in the centre for Constance he wonders.

Caelin
Everyone
As you ride south, there is enough daylight remaining to travel another four hours before it'd be best to camp for the night.
What's the order for guard duty?
Gaelen The Ironfist
"With any luck we can simply burn down this Old Sycamore Tree and flush them out with flame and smoke. Then when they scurry about on the surface, we take them with ranged fire and ride them down with our mounts!"
Gaelen laughs at this but nods, smiling.
It's a good thing we don't have a druid in the group then or otherwise she/he would probably bash you on the head just for suggesting such a thing. Gaelen looks over at the group having forgotten if there was a druid in the party or not.| Caelin O'Hern |
"Well Mites are evil little fey. They are sadistic and enjoy playing minor tricks. Given the chance, they'll steal anything and everything just because it's there. They are sensitive to bright light and mildly resistant to damage from non-cold iron weapons. They have an affinity for vermin of all kinds" dismounts to start camp "Well I can start guard duty, I'll also take a peek around camp"
Caelin O'Hern
"Oi! This sounds great three of us for first watch!"rubs his chin and looks like he is thinking "Angus! Ain't three to many?" starts counting with his fingers "Blah! I have noproblems with it" smiles with joy and pats Gaelen in the back "Common friend stay with Angus for a moment I'll go take a peek around camp" starts walking away from campsite to check for instruders.

"Yeah, the three of you can take the first watch... It will take that many of you to handle as much trouble as me by myself. Wake me up in a few hours and I'll handle the middle watch." Constance smiles at each of the three in passing knowing that she ruffled a few feathers. She sets up her bedroll, picking a nice dry area, and begins searching for dry wood for a fire.

Gaelen decides to take this chance to throw some innuendo at her.
"Well, mayhaps if we get back to Oleg's we can have a room to ourselves and I'll show you how well I can 'handle' you, hm?" he smirks as he says this and watches her leaving the three of them to keep on watch, but he remained seated, staring into the darkness even though being human he could see nothing beyond his normal vision.
Erian El'ranelen
Erian had ridden along quietly for most of the journey, engrossed in calculations and drawings as he sketched out a rough map of the area through which they traveled. Once at camp, he set about with the others in establishing their location (conjuring up an invisible servant in the process to help out), checking for any trouble, and spying out a good defensible place to rest. On the call for watch, Erian volunteers for the last shift, knowing his elven eyes will work. Before heading to bed, he takes the various drawings from the day and lays them out around him, then pulls out a dark wooden case from his pack. From this case he takes a roll of vellum, an odd-looking device with many joints and pointy ends, and a set of inks. He then sets to work on a more detailed map of the region, using his various drawings as reference points. As night falls, he looks to the sky several times as he continues to work until a series of yawns signals time for sleep. Erian takes to his bedroll after carefully packing away his tools, laying a rope by his side before resting his head for the night.

Sorry folks. I've spent much of the day recovering from yesterday. I ended up working and had to walk close to 20 miles.

It's a dark, overcast night. Minutes before it's time for Angus, Caelin and Gaelen to sleep and Constance and Tam to take their turn...
Caelin...
Constance...
Gaelen notices Caelin suddenly become more attentive, but doesn't know why.
Angus...is busy polishing his axe.
What do you do?
Constance Superne
Constance jumps out of her bedroll and into a defensive position, jerking her sword out of it's scabbard. The scabbard has been in her hands as she tries to remain prepared and vigilant in such uncertain times.
She starts to feel stupid, hoping no one saw her when she realizes maybe she did hear something, as Caelin is fixed attently on something coming from the east.
Constance grabs her shield as well and makes her way towards Caelin and the others standing watch. "What's going on?" she whispers in a hushed tone.
She stares in the darkness as she awaits a response from Caelin.

Wow, could she be any more perceptive? Even coming out of a dead sleep lol.
Oh yeah, Darkvision as well lol.
Caelin O'Hern
After making sure there is something to the east of the camp "Angus, you can sharp yer axe with something more intresting I think we have company" listening to Constance moving around and approaching him, Gaelen and Angus "Well we got company at the east of our camp can you see something over there" points at the poistion.

May as well
"Wake up!!! Attackers from the East and North! Looks like the Mites are coming to us!" Constance tries to rally the sleeping troops and coordinate the defense. Her commands loud and clear, show no sign of weakness, or the fact that she was sound asleep only 15 seconds before.
Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Constance moves 3 hexes left and 3 hexes up to take up a defensive position between the mites and her sleeping companions.
Erian El'ranelen
On hearing the call to arms, Erian quickly rises from his bed to assess the situation. Quietly thanking his father for the lightness of his armor, his elven eyes spy what the humans in the group would not--a sizable force moving toward them under cover of darkness. He calls out to the others, "I'll shed a bit of light on the trouble-makers. Be mindful that others could be lurking in the darkness." The half-elf moves his hands in an intricate pattern as he recounts a short verse of the coming of the Dawnflower to Golarion. Four torch-like objects soon appear directly in front of the advancing foes. With more light providing his companions a better view of the aggressors, Erian then readies his bow for a shot.
Whenever he wakes, Erian casts dancing lights, in the square to touching the lower left corner of mite #5. He then uses his move action to ready his bow.
