I'm fine with it, Dabbler.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

work continues to be a kick in the pants.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Neil Spicer. Are you out there?

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

Maaaaaybe. ;-)

Yay, Istas (Neil) is back!

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Neil, I appreciate you taking some time out from RPG Superstar. I really respect what you're doing there, including the sheer volume of text you're pumping out with critiques and commentary and what not. This encounter could be a defining moment for Istas and I wasn't company DMPCing her through it.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Very tense moment Thom!

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

might be travelling/work for today and weekend.

Hey Neil..Just finished reading 'The Empty Throne' well done mate another excellent adventure..can't wait to see what you do with a island full of Cyclops..

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

Thanks. Write a review for it, if you would. So far, the only person motivated to do so only rated it 3 stars. :-(

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Haven't finished it yet. Just about to enter the palace, but I like it so far especially :

Spoiler:
The way the party loses rebellion points for taking the easy way out in the Imperial shrine. Keeps 'em honest.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Neil Spicer, Istas is up.

I am simultaneously pleased and disappointed that you think I'd sic a full on leukodaemon on you at this level. Eyes down for a TPK indeed. Not to say this encounter won't go south fast if all Bobby Moore show up.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Well I'm thinking that with a silver weapon, flanking and an AoO to come when this thing stands up, we have decent chance of mauling it pretty badly before it gets to attack us. It's the cultist that I'm worried about...

Whose Bobby Moore?

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

may have trouble posting for a couple days.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Just got my work schedule for the near term. If the estimate is correct, I need to put in about 160 hours over the next two weeks. You know something's going to go wrong. So I'm putting the games I run on hiatus for 3 weeks. See you then.

No, problem, Tim. Take care of business. We'll al be here when you get done.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Back, but work is still a mess. I'll try to post as often as possible. Someday, I promise I'll be back to a decent posting schedule.

It's a bingo call. Wellard paraphrased another with "Eyes down for a TPK."

Bobby Moore was the Captain of the England World Cup (Soccer) winning team in 1966..a feat that the English never stop reminding us Scots about.

Qadira

...and a gentleman to boot, friend of Pele until his death.

Agreed FW...todays footballers could learn a lot from that man.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Wellard, does your erudition know no bounds?

Hey, FW!

Qadira

Hey yourself. Lurking and enjoying the freedom of an Easter Holiday. Hows the family?

Cheers

It was pretty much the last time the England team won anything at all, it's the only thing we have to brag about...

Actually my wife is the footie fan in our house..she's a Liverpool supporter...:(

I'm actually a Tottenham fan, and will see them play Liverpool in Baltimore this summer. Yay!

Qadira

I feel for her, Wellard, they need our support badly at the moment.

Family's healthy at least. Part of my problem from the last few weeks stemmed from my son underperforming at school. I was trying to help him with calculus for a while there, but it's been 25 years. FOrtunately most of his problems are with consistency and attention to detail, not theory. Still made for some long nights. The wife is going to lose her job by summer's end. Either the merger goes through and her employer, the non-profit (Ocean Genome Legacy) moves to Woods Hole, or the merger falls through and OGL closes because of lack of funds. I have work to comfort me at least

What's up with you?

Qadira

I'm making the most of my time with my daughter, she is growing up fast. And tough. I worry for her elder brother he is too nice to cope with a ruthless 2 year old sister.

Love calculus, shame we aren't closer - I would have been round like a shot.

Otherwise life is very good and I cannot complain. My wife almost lost her job at Christmas telling her boss what she thought of him when she had had a few drinks.... I hope yours manages to find a third alternative.

Cheers

Same here. Speaking of close, FW, I'm in Gloucester right now...

Qadira

I am in Derby for the week at my Mother-in-laws.

Typical - I come down here, you go up there!

Hey Andy you going to Games Expo?

Qadira

Unfortunately I became all excited about going as a DM and then .....checked the calendar. You know when something tickles at the back of your mind - something like your daughter's birthday. End of. And no PaizoconUK this year either.

So have fun at them for me.

Cheers

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Wellard, just out of curiousity, what would you havce done if Kel had failed the save?

Done a very quick King Arthur Impression and ..'RUNAWAY..RUNAWAY!!!!'

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

LOL. Got a healing potion anyone, or a channel left? Em is not on 8hp, one more blow and he's down.

Well if our Cleric would concentrate on healing instead of hitting things for a d4 damage.....

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

That's 1d4+3! Seriously, she's done well with that stinking dagger.

What's the line out of Dune about giving someone a knife? Or was it something not in Dune about a hammer?

To be completely fair, Istas is running a little low on spells. I'm not sure about channels.

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

Istas has more than enough spells left and just about all of her channels, I think. I've been saving them for the tougher fight I'm sure is down the road so we don't have to flee and rest up again after this encounter. Plus, I planned on using her wand of cure moderate wounds in the meantime to put everyone back in order. That's because she can use her channels to harm undead...as well as her offensive spells rather than wasting them on a spontaneous cure spell. So, I intended to keep most of those resources as offensive weapons to keep us on track. I just didn't want to waste them on a preliminary encounter when we might need them later.

Regardless, in the meantime, if any of you have potions, use them. That's what they're for. Even so, I'll have Istas dig out the wand of cure moderate wounds and put people back in order with her next couple of actions. Lastly, I'd just like to point out that if you stabby guys had focused on finding and eliminating the priest of Urgathoa (as Istas requested), we wouldn't be fighting these leukodaemons and you wouldn't have found yourselves in such dire straits in the first place. ;-P

P.S. The dagger is the favored weapon of Pharasma. It's not like Istas' shortspear or club would do that much better with 1d6 damage anyway. Besides, the dagger is magical and helps her detect undead. As such, if DR is involved in fighting any of these monsters, it hopefully counteracts that better than the alternatives.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

I used a couple spells while you were away, Neil. The party's been guzzling potions too. And they should keep some in hand in case Istas goes down.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

If we had, Istas would be dead. Emerion's got the ONLY weapon in our arsenal that can harm the leukodaemons past their DR, so it's logical that he should be fighting them.

Besides, I think this IS the boss-fight.

Female Human(1/2 Chelaxian 1/2 Varisian) Sorceress 7 (favoured class) |AC 14 Init+5 Perc+8 FRW 3/3/7

Should have just let me web the place..

As this Cultist is not Lady Andosain..it can't be THE BOSS fight..it is however A boss fight.

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

maybe she's a sweet transvestite?

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

I half expect Istas to "force sense" the evil heart of Lady Andaisin when we meet. Kind of like a light-side Jedi facing down a Sith lord. :-)

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I hate swarms! If you can keep Emerion on his feet, he can finish this thing off fast, though.

Hey, Gang - I'll be away on vacation (hitting Disney with my wife's family) for the next week, so please keep Kel alive for me.

Thanks,
Bill

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

We're having enough trouble keeping ourselves alive, but we'll try!

Expert 3/Slacker 4/Layabout 2

Man, good for you guys, but I'm a little bummed. I set that up way tougher than the room was written, the Leukodaemons were so cool I had to make sure that some would get out. As written there were two cultists who had a tiny chance of actually freeing the LDs.

I offset the guaranteed combat with LDs with some significant nerfs of the LDs, including obsessing about getting hold of some bows, giving ya'll a ton of AoOs. I figured once they got a hold of a bow, you'd get to play catch the Leukodaemon while it ran away and shot you from range. I was really looking forward to it.

Almost made it. If Kel hadn't smacked it hard with the crit, Emerion's damage wouldn't have been enough to bring it down on the AoO.

Neil had the right of it in some ways. Getting the alchemist cultist early or disabling the bombs would have spared you the second LD. As it was Kel cut one detonation line and hurt the cultist enough that he panicked and dropped he last one.

Good job.
