Neil, I appreciate you taking some time out from RPG Superstar. I really respect what you're doing there, including the sheer volume of text you're pumping out with critiques and commentary and what not. This encounter could be a defining moment for Istas and I wasn't company DMPCing her through it.
Hey Neil..Just finished reading 'The Empty Throne' well done mate another excellent adventure..can't wait to see what you do with a island full of Cyclops..
I am simultaneously pleased and disappointed that you think I'd sic a full on leukodaemon on you at this level. Eyes down for a TPK indeed. Not to say this encounter won't go south fast if all Bobby Moore show up.

Well I'm thinking that with a silver weapon, flanking and an AoO to come when this thing stands up, we have decent chance of mauling it pretty badly before it gets to attack us. It's the cultist that I'm worried about...
Just got my work schedule for the near term. If the estimate is correct, I need to put in about 160 hours over the next two weeks. You know something's going to go wrong. So I'm putting the games I run on hiatus for 3 weeks. See you then.
Hey yourself. Lurking and enjoying the freedom of an Easter Holiday. Hows the family?
Cheers
Family's healthy at least. Part of my problem from the last few weeks stemmed from my son underperforming at school. I was trying to help him with calculus for a while there, but it's been 25 years. FOrtunately most of his problems are with consistency and attention to detail, not theory. Still made for some long nights. The wife is going to lose her job by summer's end. Either the merger goes through and her employer, the non-profit (Ocean Genome Legacy) moves to Woods Hole, or the merger falls through and OGL closes because of lack of funds. I have work to comfort me at least
I'm making the most of my time with my daughter, she is growing up fast. And tough. I worry for her elder brother he is too nice to cope with a ruthless 2 year old sister.
Love calculus, shame we aren't closer - I would have been round like a shot.
Otherwise life is very good and I cannot complain. My wife almost lost her job at Christmas telling her boss what she thought of him when she had had a few drinks.... I hope yours manages to find a third alternative.

Same here. Speaking of close, FW, I'm in Gloucester right now...
Unfortunately I became all excited about going as a DM and then .....checked the calendar. You know when something tickles at the back of your mind - something like your daughter's birthday. End of. And no PaizoconUK this year either.
Istas has more than enough spells left and just about all of her channels, I think. I've been saving them for the tougher fight I'm sure is down the road so we don't have to flee and rest up again after this encounter. Plus, I planned on using her wand of cure moderate wounds in the meantime to put everyone back in order. That's because she can use her channels to harm undead...as well as her offensive spells rather than wasting them on a spontaneous cure spell. So, I intended to keep most of those resources as offensive weapons to keep us on track. I just didn't want to waste them on a preliminary encounter when we might need them later.
Regardless, in the meantime, if any of you have potions, use them. That's what they're for. Even so, I'll have Istas dig out the wand of cure moderate wounds and put people back in order with her next couple of actions. Lastly, I'd just like to point out that if you stabby guys had focused on finding and eliminating the priest of Urgathoa (as Istas requested), we wouldn't be fighting these leukodaemons and you wouldn't have found yourselves in such dire straits in the first place. ;-P
P.S. The dagger is the favored weapon of Pharasma. It's not like Istas' shortspear or club would do that much better with 1d6 damage anyway. Besides, the dagger is magical and helps her detect undead. As such, if DR is involved in fighting any of these monsters, it hopefully counteracts that better than the alternatives.

If we had, Istas would be dead. Emerion's got the ONLY weapon in our arsenal that can harm the leukodaemons past their DR, so it's logical that he should be fighting them.
Man, good for you guys, but I'm a little bummed. I set that up way tougher than the room was written, the Leukodaemons were so cool I had to make sure that some would get out. As written there were two cultists who had a tiny chance of actually freeing the LDs.
I offset the guaranteed combat with LDs with some significant nerfs of the LDs, including obsessing about getting hold of some bows, giving ya'll a ton of AoOs. I figured once they got a hold of a bow, you'd get to play catch the Leukodaemon while it ran away and shot you from range. I was really looking forward to it.
Almost made it. If Kel hadn't smacked it hard with the crit, Emerion's damage wouldn't have been enough to bring it down on the AoO.
Neil had the right of it in some ways. Getting the alchemist cultist early or disabling the bombs would have spared you the second LD. As it was Kel cut one detonation line and hurt the cultist enough that he panicked and dropped he last one.
