Female Human Fighter (Two-Handed) 1

Raising an eye as her cellmate breaks free, she responds, "Name's Beatrix. You can call me Bea. What do you have in mind?"

Male Human

Alazandaru snaps the manacles he had been working on. As the snap occurs, luck is on his side and the guards outside the room choose that moment to laugh at some joke made. It did not.

No peeking now:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Haruk just nods his head at Alazandaru breaks free. "Well it appears we have our muscle. Name's Haruk, which in my native tongue means "Doom". Let us begone from here and bring such upon our enemies"

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I'm quite aware of the Infernal tongue. Sir Balin had me study it. Alazandaru replied matter-of-factly, as he waited eagerly for the Gnome's reply- unsure of how he could proceed even with his manacles broken. The best he could hope for was to surprise a guard, and even then, odds would be against him...

Try and break all of the others manacles? No, too loud, too risky... And difficult to conceal. Best listen to the Gnome's proposition.

Not in use

Bostarg's tension eases as he does not ken any response from the guards. He then continues "I have been given the keys to our escape by a benefactor. A name was given, Tiadora, but I know not it's truth and it is immaterial for the moment. In exchange for the keys she has bid us attend a meeting... nothing more, nothing less. I would think that attendance is a fair price, no?"

"So the compact is thus - I will yield the means of our liberation... on the promise that I shall be carried with you unto the meeting. Beyond that is open to your own will..." as he finishes the gnome looks unto the piece of fabric crunched in his hands and removes a couple of patches. Watching as they swell into being he holds forth a set of tools and a dagger to Alazandaru. "To take the items is to accept the terms."

Morthos nods in agreement. "Fair enough." He then turns his head toward Alazandaru, "The moment is near, Alazandaru. What say you?"

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

"So, in order to help us escape, you want us to take you to a meeting?" He thinks for a moment. "By the will of Asmodeus, it shall be done!, though to cross me means to cross Him" He says by way of warning.

male human witch 1

It makes sense to abandon this place together, and also to leave someone else holding the blame. If you are being provided a safe place to rest while the next journey is determined, there's no reason not to pool our talents and leave together.

The witch-pirate looks out to the jovial guards and sneers. [b]They seem like idiots now, but they are organized and hold the advatnage. Let us hope they are not prepared for the likes of we.[/b[

We get a ruling on whether I can point and cast message?

King of Talingarde

On this one, I'll go like this. Normally a spell with Somatic components is a no go, but they do detail a simple component so I'll give this chance. Concentration check (DC 11) to cast it. Guards will get a perception roll to hear it though due to verbal and somatic components.

male human witch 1

Concentration 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru takes the dagger and the tools, nodding his agreement.

DM, my roll assumes normal quality thieve's tools.

Cease your bluster all of you! he hisses quietly, wanting silence while he works. Don't give them more chances to hear us.

He works on Bostarg's manacles first, expertly using the tool to quietly jimmy the lock. As he works, he whispers to Bostarg-

Bostarg Only or DC15 to Overhear:

Don't suppose you happened to get a second dagger? I find i'm more capable with a pair...

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Disable Device, full-round action (6 seconds)

To save time, i'll make rolls for everyone else's manacles and assume we're not heard, and we'll see who still needs to be released after the first round of attempts. I'm not comfortable taking 20 here, too long and thus too much risk of being overheard.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Beatrix

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Morthos

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Haruk

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Avrandes

The young Varisian also conceals his dagger up his sleeve, wanting to appear unarmed.

1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 = 19 Sleight of Hand

Edit in light of rolls and assuming success on Haruk and Beatrix-

Alazandaru keeps working to release everyone.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Morthos

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Avrandes

King of Talingarde

Avrandes quietly casts Message upon the group, allowing you to speak silently to plan. As this happens, Alazandaru goes to work on the manacles. After the first set, he finds the others to be quite similar. When opening Avrandes, he slips for but a moment, but it does not appear the guards overheard. You are all free of the manacles.

Secret stuff:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Not in use

As his manacles drop, Bostarg tips his imaginary hat in thanks to the Varisian thief. To the whisper he replies

Alazandru + Perception DC 15:
"There is a second, though I thought it wise to spread our capability wider rather than thin?"

The gnome does not yet stand, instead he unfolds the diaphanous veil before him again, looking over it before removing a few more patches. A second dagger and a small pouch with an arcane rune upon it are the first to materialize, followed by a holy symbol of Asmodeus. The gnome offers the dagger and pouch to first taker "I do not doubt that one of you may put either of these to greater good than myself" the holy symbol though is proffered in the direction of Haruk "A sign of the faithful for the faithful?"

Once the items are dispersed, the veil returns to his pocket for safe keeping. "So as it must, we turn to our next move? Do we lure the guards within, or seek to meet them?" his tone has a degree of deference to it; as though he now speaks of matters in which he is uncertain.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I happen to be something of a... specialist with knives. If the rest of you could cope using your manacles as improvised weapons, I can assure you the second dagger wouldn't go to waste in my hands. I think i've already proved that you can trust me.

Don't the spellcasters need spell components?

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Haruk smiles wickedly at the holy symbol of his God "As I said, I do not think Lord Asmodeus would allow me to die. There is far too much for me to do." He looks around at the others, thinking "We need a friend to get us out of here, and I am rather good at making new friends. I believe one of the guards will do"

Female Human Fighter (Two-Handed) 1

Bea smiles at having her shackles removed, but initially remains silent to avoid drawing more attention from the guards. Hefting her chains, she shrugs and speaks in a low voice. "I prefer a much larger blade anyways."

I'm guessing 1d6 to use them as a weapon and a -4 penalty to attack?

Not in use

I'm assuming Avrandes will take the spell component pouch?
Neither of Bostarg's spells need a material component.

King of Talingarde

The manacles I'm counting as a flail for now. And yes, improvised weapon so -4 to cave a guard's skull in with. And yes, casters need spell components, but Avrandes has Eschew Materials. The pouch with an arcane rune on it is a spell component pouch, with the added benefit of having 6 cloaks in it! These provided a +1 circumstance bonus to stealth checks.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

I only need a piece of cured leather as a focus for Mage Armor. Should I take the pouch, or will you allow the symbol of Asmodeus to replace the leather?

Morthos rubs his wrist as he's freed. Catching a bit of the conversation between Alazandaru and Bostarg, he thinks nothing of it. "We bring them... to us." He smiles maliciously. "I shall cause a diversion that will alert the guards. When they foolishly arrive, they will see that I am free and enter to restrain me. The rest of you will appear chained. I shall move to that corner," he points to the NW corner, "where Alazandaru will strike. When he does, the rest of us will then aide in eliminating these pathetic fools. They have brought this ruin upon themselves." He states as a matter of fact. "Any objections?"

King of Talingarde

There are sufficient components in the bag that if you need to divvy them up between people, you can manage. We'll say the cloaks have pockets to store them.

Not in use

Having not yet risen from his place of recumbence Bostarg casts an eye over the manacles "Well it would seem that a deception could be undertaken that those that are free are yet bound... I have no objection to the conceit, given that there is little I could provide beyond my voice to the exchange...." biting his lip slightly in thought.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I'm fairly sure I could pick our way out of the cell door. The deception seems unnecessary when we could rush them with force, but very well. Alazandaru reluctantly agrees. Perhaps this way we can avoid alerting the whole prison and acquire the rest of you some weapons with minimal fuss...

Cloaks that give +1 to stealth you say? I'll have one of those! I'll just take 10 on Alazandaru's checks to conceal the daggers; giving him a 22 to hide both (due to the easily concealable nature of the weapon giving a +2 and the cloak giving another +2).

Not in use

Bostarg takes a cloak to fold up and place behind his sitting form out of sight, and carries out the pantomine of making himself appear bound. He then waits patiently...

Take 10 on the check for the manacles: 13 if it's Sleight of Hand

male human witch 1

The pirate strokes the scar along his jaw, still seated but grateful to have his hands back. Everyone wants to play their role. I say we share information first. Bringingthe citadel on us seems unwise when we could take full stock of our resources and plan from there.

He looks to make eye contact with several of his new companions, settling with a grimace on Haruk.

After all, I would never board a ship without knowing my crew. Joining combat with the wrong ally is a sure way to die in less than three days.

Giving his comments a few moments to resonate, he purses his lips and begins again. I am empowered with some skill in magic. I can curse guards who may notice us, and put several to sleep if we encounter a patrol. I can fight, and I can be trusted to pull my weight here and out there.

Morthos will glady take one of those if available.

Morthos looks to Avrandes, "Information? While the rest of us wish to free of this injustice, you want--information? You can remain here, if your lack of information disturbs you. It appears to me, the rest of us want to be free. You can either aide us in our attempt, or, you can remain here thereby allowing yourself to surely die in three days. The choice is yours. So, while you ponder such a difficult decision, I will still ask you to take your place and play your part." Turning to the others, "Are we ready?" He asks, waiting for them to get set up. When they do, "Good. Let us begin." Moving over to the cell gate, "GUARDS! GUARDS! I NEED TO SPEAK TO YOU! Fools."

If I can pull the manacles out of the wall, then I'll do that before I call out to them. Not sure if the break DC is to take them out of the walls or just to be free of them. If I can't, then no biggie. Don't want to alert the guards ahead of time.

The idea is too have them see me and I move to the corner of the prison in an attempt to defend myself, thereby, having them surrounded. With the idea of Alazandaru striking with his weapons first. That's the idea of how it's suppose to work anyway.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Before Morthos puts his plan into motion

"Now, now no need to kill all guards. I plan to make one of them our ally. We could use an inside man, so to speak" Haruk will take a cloak and enough components to handle whatever spellcasting he might need.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

When I strike, that'll be the signal for everyone to do whatever you must against the other guards. If you wish to try and charm one, so be it. But I don't imagine everybody here is trained in Spellcraft; please make your actions clear so we don't inadvertently harm a charmed guard.

Assuming all goes to plan and to make it easier for DM to set up combat, heres Alazandaru's initial "backstab" which should trigger the surprise round.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
1d4 + 5 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (5) = 13

King of Talingarde

Two guards come into the room at Morthos's outburst, one staying by the doors (a dwarf), signal horn in hand. The other (a human) comes up to the cells and sees Morthos free. He takes his cudgel and racks it across the bars. "I don't know how you got out of your manacles, but I suggest you lay down right now so I can put them back on you, you hear me?"

Sense Motive DC 10:
The guards are currently a little intimidated by this scenario.

Morthos looks at him with a look of interest, "You suggest?" He asks as he turns his back and takes a few steps toward the corner of the jail, his hands clasped behind his back. Quickly turning back around, "You are going to have to come in here and put them back on me yourself. And by the looks of you, I would also suggest your partner to assist you. Because you will most assuredly die if you attempt such an endeavor by yourself." Slowly backing his way to the wall, he motions for the guard to come and get him. "But it matters little. Your odds of survival are greater if there are two. I am but one man. Use your intellect. It is far easier for two to apprehend one, don't you agree? Ultimately, the choice is yours, of course. As I said, you will die in any futile attempt to restrain me. And you will have to restrain me. And I'm sure Blackerly would probably recommend you for a promotion for allowing a prisoner to escape his bonds. Especially while you were playing...," he concentrates a moment, "'poker' was it?"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

King of Talingarde

The human in front of the cell goes red in the face from anger. "Really now, you think you can do something? C'mon Glim, let's show this guy how we do things here in Branderscar!"

The dwarf hesitates for a moment, "But Wendell, don't you think we should get some help first." Despite his protest, the dwarf hangs the horn back to his belt and pulls out his own cudgel, going forward.

"Naw, we got this guy. Percy probably just didn't lock him up right. And I really want to let off some steam on this guy." The guard named Wendell opens the door to the cell and the two enter, cudgel's drawn.

I won't be able to update the map until later. I assume Morthos backed up to CD 71. The two guards are at:
Wendell - CE 72
Glim - CF 72
I'll update when I get home with actions. I'll give you all a surprise round first (the guards will be in shock despite being ready) as Round 0, then start Round 1 after you all take a surprise action.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Quick question: Casting a spell as if I were one level higher, does that increase the DC as well, or just level dependent effects of the spell?

Once the guards come into the cell and are close enough Haruk says a few words in Infernal and makes small motion with his hand, targeting Wendell Casting Charm Person DC 18(or 19 if the answer to my question is yes)

King of Talingarde

It does not affect the save DC, only the level based variables.

Haruk speaks a few words, and the guard Wendell becomes his new friend.

Intially I meant to back up to CC 65 or CC 66. To have the wall at my back and to where the others could break off any chance of them getting away. Along with Alazandaru getting an initial backstab opportunity. If that's cool. No biggie, though, if you wish to roll with it this way. I don't want it to be too much trouble to have to change it all up. Morthos is pretty confident; no matter how we go about it. ;)

King of Talingarde

pfft, haven't updated the map yet, so fine by me. We'll put Wendell just past Alzandaru at CC 69, and Glim at CD 69, when Alazandaru does his backstab. Haruk, if you want to change up targets to Glim, feel free, just let me know.

Your new found friend should open these doors and let the other prisoners loose. Not to escape, mind you. Just to cover his tracks and keep the guards from noticing us.

Avrandes looms sideways at Morthos while he moves near the cell door and looksa across the prison floor. We had three days, my new friend. Acting rashly means unforeseen events. We may wish to know the others' gifts before we call the guard down on ourselves.

Looking over at the red-skinned priest, he says. Your friend. Ask him how many guards on this block and when relief is coming.

As Beatrix goes up to the dwarf, the human guard Wendell calls out to him, "Glim, run! Get help!" Unfortunately for Wendell, this act causes him to finally bleed into unconsiousness (went from disabled to dying).

The dwarf Glim stands there stupefied for a moment, unsure how to proceed. The woman comes up and demans he give her his signal horn. Prepared to follow Wendell's advice and run, suddenly his friend comes up and asks him. He proceeds to pull it off his belt and offer it forward, slowly and confused, until suddenly his mind snaps back into place. "I'll not be fooled by your trickery!"

He did break the spell. At present he's only armed with the horn (he had to stow his cudgel). Everyone who goes before him in the initiative order can act before he does.
