Psalm walks with the others aways. When the question of sleeping comes up. Psalm raises an eyebrow that his fellow gnome might be sleeping beneath the stars. "Oh . . . With the poor at the Order of the Faith I had been staying. I half assumed the laws of these humans would mark sleeping outside inside the walls a capital offense. Outside the walls I went when last I wanted stars over head. We've plans to travel together. Perhaps we could share a campsite."

Gomdebo had been stone too long to freeze at the halfling's jumpscare. Instead she relaxed, her anticipation finally coming to fruitition, she started "Aiyeh. Now that be Annanar, the Blacksling. I should hope I don't have a reason to hide from ye...so close to the Redwood."

Quint greets each of them in turn, including Vralk, then looks to the sky, as if trying to assess the weather, to cover his hesitation. I'd feel safer in my little rooftop nook. These two seem nice enough, but I don't really know them. I don't want to alienate them though... Seems like a good night to sleep under the stars. I just need to make a quick stop on the way.

He then leads them over to a spot close, but not too close, to his nook, and climbs up onto the roof. I'll just be a moment.

Nibbles, where are you? Quint gathers his few possessions, and a small grey mouse appears from a dark corner. Come on, I found you some new friends. He lays out his palm, and the mouse scurries into his hand. He deposits the mouse in his shirt pocket, and it struggles for a moment to reposition itself so that it can see out.

He makes his way back to the others, swinging from a ledge before dropping back down to the street. He introduces the mouse to the other gnomes as if introducing a person. Nibbles, this is Boddynuck and Psalm. Psalm, Boddynuck, this is Nibbles.

Lidras walked in silence for a moment. Part of him wanted to lie. To play the role of the man he wanted to be. Instead, he forced himself to say ”I was drowning in the darkness of my sins. I begged the church to save my soul by ending my life. Instead I was broken and reforged into a sword that the church might wield in Amren’s name.”

Without looking at the half-orc, and after an awkward pause, he said ”And yourself? Where you born into service or did you fall into it like myself?”

"I too was given a second chance. My people had captured a paladin of Saxwyn and were torturing him. Between these sessions, I was to care for him and make sure he did not die before they wanted. During these moments he spoke to me of Saxwyn and told me I had a flame of goodness within me and that I needed to escape and serve Saxwyn to allow that flame to grow and become a beacon to other. So I escaped and came here. I too know the darkness of evil, and I think it makes me...us, stronger for we know what lies in the dark and how to combat it! Or so I think..."

Annanar stays in the shadows beyond the rays of lamplight, and speaks just above a whisper. "Listen, Gomdebo, Akassa didn't say anything we didn't already know. There're two angles to work here; the first is to see if you can get any dirt on Akassa from her family or constituents. While you're in Blueblossom, do some digging. Our friend in the Senate needs something to work with. The other angle is to try and get in her good graces, to try and work your way in to a more personal relationship with Akassa or her staff. If this little quest to Midvale is the way to do it, all the better. Got it?" Annanar waits a moment for her affirmative response, then he silently pulls a dagger from a hidden sheath in his sleeve, and quickly flips it around tapping Blackbuster in the back with the hilt. --Rydwyrna - Saxday, 20 Laureoth, 146 R.R.--

Moon Laureoth sits heavy and still full just above the southern horizon, even as the sun heralds the break of day. Early risers are already about their business, and the city of Rydwyrna starts to bustle even though most have not yet broken their fast. The smells of baking bread and frying bacon waft down just about every street from various inns, taverns, and boarding houses. The Order compounds are already busy with the sounds of training, marching, practice combat, and the casting of spells. Castle Redwood won't open to the public for a good hour, but perhaps now is the best time to try and barter for a reduced price for passage north on a merchant's galley. The docks are the busiest part of town right now, with no doubt, men are moving heavy crates and barrels from dockside warehouses up and down the piers and gangplanks to ships of various sizes and shapes. The harbormaster is busy at his open air office, talking to ship's quartermasters, checking ledgers, collecting the Republic's tariffs and taxes, and sending his inspectors on board every vessel that is yet to be registered. Thick of chest and even thicker of beard, a beard of curly, Shadowland black hair, his close-cropped pate is covered by a midnight-blue, woolen fedora. His well-tailored, durable, cotton garments show him to be a man fit for function and to show his elevated station. His ice-blue eyes weigh coins and men equally, and even from a distance, the command and power of his voice is evident. It's clear the harbormaster is not a man to be trifled with. Yet, he is probably the best man to speak to in order to find out which vessels are headed up the river today.

Gomdebo approaches the harbormaster "Mornin' to ye. We're looking for passage to the Haven, or Briarhill at least. 6 we be!"

Psalm rises a few minutes before sunrise old habit from the hermitage. The Brothers of the Mountain Circle were early risers. I am a little late aren't I.

He pulls out some rations enough for his friends and the animals. He spends sometime in prayer that ends with singing.

Snow-white! Snow-white! O Lady clear!
O Queen beyond the Western Seas!
O light to us that wander here
Amid the world of woven trees!

Aldellion! O Aldellion!
Clear are thy eyes and bright thy breath!
Snow-white! Snow-white! We sing to thee
In a far land beyond the sea.

O Stars that in the Sunless Year
With shining hand by her were sown,
In windy fields now bright and clear
We see your silver blossom blown!

O Aldellion! Aldellion!
We still remember, we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas.

He smiles as the others wake. Continuing to sing and offering food of mostly trail mix and dry muesli.

Thank you!

Lindaer woke up early. He knew that as a paladin he was supposed to rise and speak his morning prayers, but they always felt so hollow to him. Growing up as he had taught him the futility of prayers. The gods listened, but it was one’s own actions that mattered. He still prayed when station dictated them, and he knew them by heart. At times it felt hypocritical, but he knew that a paladin was a symbol. He tried to tell himself it was not so that he might look good.

Before going to the docks, he returned to the castle to meet up with any comrades there. It would not do to split the party.

Rising early, Drun says a quick prayer to Saxwyn (more like talking to a fellow warrior, actually) and then splashes some cold water on his face before hurrying out to meet Lindaer. He spends a long time the previous night thinking about his fellow paladin, and had come to the conclusion that they were to be friends and allies...and Saxwyn seemed to agree..or at least he did not say anything against this.

Seeing his new friend, Drun calls out to him.

Hail Lindaer of Amren! I hope you slept well. I have spoken to Saxwyn and he agrees that we should travel together and be comrades against the darkness."

It easy to see the big, toothy smile on the half-orc's face, for he has forgotten to wear his mask. Others in the atrium move away from the loud halfbreed, many visibly cringing or wincing as he speaks.

The half-elf politely bowed his head. ”Truly you are blessed. Those who give their souls to the gods are often gifted with the sight. That I should be found worthy in yours is humbling.” He could see the others wince and look away. Good. he thought. Let them be uncomfortable. Those who surrounded themselves only with the proper. ”Let us go, brother. The best prayer is action, and there is much for us to do.”

After wrapping up a conversation with a slender half-elf that had a Tindaran look to him, a man you recognize from being in The Black Pegasus last night, the beefy harbormaster adjusts his fedora, turns, and looks at Gomdebo Blackbuster. "What's this now?" He gives her a quick visual scrutinization, and she feels herself being weighed and judged, much like the man might appraise the cargo-hold of a ship. "Blueblosoom Haven or Briarhill you say, well, they're on opposite sides of the river, so as to that, the where makes a difference. Imma guess you mean Blueblossom, 'cause the only reason anyone goes to Briarhill outpost is to take the ferry to Blueblossom. You want booked passage, or ye lookin' to work for yer travel? That makes a difference too. Name's Exard, by the way, Exard Artyll, and you are?" As he asks his questions Exard pulls at one of the braided strands of his thick black beard.

Wow sorry, seems I'm on the opposite side of the day as DM for posting.

Quint is content to tag along with the other gnomes for now, awaiting an opportunity to show his worth. When the others enter the castle, he decides it would be wiser for him to wait at the gates. Quint is no stranger to taking what he needs, and his father taught him a love for trading, but the concept of borrowing or lending has never seemed like a good idea. Growing up on the road, you were unlikely to meet anyone twice, so even with the best of intentions, a loan was unlikely ever to be returned.

I figures that the state of his clothes would likely make anyone offering such a loan reconsider, anyway.

So, he waits at the gate, and watches to see if anyone else comes to collect on the offer.

"Hail and well met Gomdebo of the Blackbuster." Exard reaches out a massive hand with fingers like sausages, expecting a handshake of greeting. After receiving it, he answers Gomdebo's questions. "Aye, the ferry runs from the Briarhill outpost on the southern side of the river to the docks at Blueblossom Haven on the north. As for cattle, I'd have to say I don't know. Most of the cattle coming out of the Haven are already butchered and packed in crates. I suppose they might drove some cattle down the Trader's Route on occasion, bringin' 'em more fresh to market. Don't know that they do that though. Regardless, if you're willing to work for yer supper, as the expression goes, you'd most likely have good luck talking to Captain Vaslov of the Tacking Lady. They just pulled into port from Tradebay, and will be headed up to Blueblossom this afternoon. She's a small ship, but swift, and Vaslov is a good captain, if a bit rough around the edges." Exard smiles at Gomdebo then and says, []b"Lovely dwarf lass like yerself shouldn't have any trouble bringin' 'im to heel, though. For those that are going to the castle, a bit of introductory setting info. Once you figure out who's going through the gate queue to get into Castle Redwood, we can handle finding/talking to Akassa's chief of staff.

--Castle Redwood--

Approaching the castle requires passing through an inspection queue at the main gate. It's a standard procedure, but for the uninitiated, watching the Order Guard rifling through people's bags, having them turn out their pockets, and collecting all of their weapons in roughspun cotton sacks for them to retrieve after their business in Castle Redwood is done is a bit unsettling. Yet, if the group wants to collect the five gold coins, which they might need for passage on a ship north, or wants to try and get Senator Akassa's chief of staff to use his influence to get them free passage, through the queue they must go. For those that really don't like being separated from their weapons, and don't trust the guard keeping the ledgers to keep things straight, the only alternative would be to have a member of the party hold all others' belongings somewhere outside the castle wall.

Just a note on timing here. My previous narrative posts, which may have not been as clear as I wanted, said that Castle Redwood wasn't open for business when the party woke up, but that the docks undoubtedly were. That's why people went to the docks first, because it was the most proactive thing to do. So Gomdebo's conversation with harbormaster Exard Artyll, absolutely would have happened before the trip to the castle. Timeline is just fine, and now you all know what ship you'll most likely take, which could help with negotiations with Marketh, Akassa's chief of staff. Once you locate him! ... Speaking of...

Quint, who seems entirely uncomfortable with guards, searches, queues, and castles, at least in the day time, offers to forego the five gold pieces, and stay outside watching everyone's gear, and animal friends. The others wait patiently in the queue, and bristle only slightly at the Order Guard's rough treatment. Once their relative safety has been ascertained they move through the courtyard of Castle Redwood. A large marble fountain, the center of which is a statue of Guilheum the Great, one of the founders of the Republic, arm extended with longsword in hand, and a shield with a sickle etched into it, bubbles with crystal clear water. Many well dressed men and women sit around the fountain, or on benches in the well manicured garden that makes up the courtyard. Some of them are engaged in vehement conversation, others sit idly. Many people, including some in your own group, look about with a sense of awe and wonder. Following the line of petitioners and would-be advocates into the castle's main entrance, the sound of hard soles on ancient stone fills your ears. Here, inside the massive receiving chamber of Castle Redwood, there are people milling about everywhere, various tables set up with signs of paint on fabric. Near the middle of the southern side of the chamber you see a tall banner with the flag of Midvale behind it, oxhead over a blue flower, all on a field of green. The table in front has a sign that reads: Midvale Volunteers. Behind the table a man in expensive robes, with two armed guards flanking him, stands presiding. At the table, two female clerks in functional yet classy shirt and pants, hand out promissory notes in exchange for signatures on parchment. This is the working of the Republic, paper in exchange for paper, signatures as credence and credit. This is the burgeoning economy, coins replaced by paper and promises. Yet, every vendor in the cities and provinces of the Republic will take such notes, just as surely as minted gold. So, this is where you must go, and what you must do, in order to officially declare your allegiance to Senator Akassa, and seek her chief of staff's influence towards making your travels easier or cheaper, or both.

He then addresses the animals

Boddy joins the line and, when his turn comes, carefully reads the document and, assuming that there is nothing that he finds amiss, happily signs it.

It would never even occur to him to try and gain influence. Obviously, the chief of staff would automatically have done whatever was required :-)

Gomdebo notes the castle stonework on the way in, while shoddy from her perspective, there are certain elements that she is completely at a loss to explain, the construction techniques must be wildly different than what she is used to. Reaching her spot in the queue, she cocks her head side to side, inquiring "How many ye expecting today?"

Drun looks mesmerized at Boddynuck's ability to speak with his "friends".

"Is that magic you us to make them listen?", he asks in awe.

"Not really. It depends on how one defines magic, I suppose. Its not a spell, its an ability that all of my people have. We all like animals and they like us. We understand each other. Within limits. Its nowhere near as powerful as a Druids spells are said to be."

"The small creatures run from me. I suppose the skink of my past life still surrounds me, or so I believe. They are very....tranquil."

Battle Grid

The guard that Gomdebo addresses looks at her like she just flew in on a magic carpet. "Wha'd'ya mean, how many we expecting? Amren's white beard, it's Castle trolling Redwood, there's always people coming and going? You daft or something?" Obviously Gomdebo's long time spent petrified has put her squarely in a place where the normality of regular daily life in Rydwyrna is foreign to her. The guard both noticed, and felt the obligation to comment. Perhaps his caustic attitude is the very reason he's been awarded Castle Redwood Main Gate duty? Regardless, she and her new companions, except Quint who stayed outside to watch everyone else's gear, shuffle through the queue with all the others and file into the Castle.

Not sure how you guys want to run this. If you're interested in interacting with Marketh, let's do that. If you just want to "fast forward" saying that everyone who entered signed the contract and collected their five paper gold pieces, we can skip ahead to talking to Captain Vaslov of the Tacking Lady, we can hand wave up to that point. Talking to Vaslov, though, is a social interaction that could have consequences, so it needs to be played out. Seems like Gomdebo has stepped up to be "party face" at this point. If anybody wants to assist her, or try and step up to be party face, potential conversations with Marketh and Vaslov would be the time to assert their position. :) Not that I want to create intra-party drama or anything... :P :P :P

"Oh, you aren't the one handing out free gold? I misunderstood. I guess that's why you're not carrying a large sack of gold coins around." she chuckles.

Persuasion, I'm charming don't hit me: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Obviously, the man didn't take kindly to the jest "...just kidding."

Heh, starting the game right with a nat 1 first roll :D

Battle Grid

Good, got that out of the way then. :D

"Listen, smart mouth, how about you stop flapping yer lips and just move along like the rest of the rabble?" The guard says, and then picks the butt end of his halberd out of the dirt and gives Gomdebo a light smack on her rear.

There, there's for your natural one. :) :P

The invasive haft rings the little brass bell *ding* in her back pocket awkwardly, she bites her lip and tries not to make more of a scene, feeling embarrassed. She quickly collects her gold and escapes the bizarre civility trying to avoid eye contact.

Once her companions have done the same, she informs them about the Tacking Lady and the possibility of working for fare, netting them a tidy profit "...they say it be honest work, why not give it a try?"

Purposefully not mentioning the interaction, the paladin said, having collected his coin ”I have no issue with honest work. I must also note that we are volunteers, not soldiers. If the senator wanted, she could have sent someone official. The fact that she has not, may indicate that she wishes discretion. Or that she is doing this alone and without further support of the government. The latter may be likely, given that she has lost kin. If we work our way there, we might well be able to blend in better as well. I have a bad feeling that what we are investigating may be darker in nature that a mere disease.”

"Why would the government not support her care about its people dying of disease? Hmm...unless..."

Gomdebo had been reading a lot of local history lately, trying to catch herself up. Has she ever heard of a disease that crossed between humans and livestock with a state level impact?

Wow, being on the "good" team will be an adjustment for me, since I'm used to playing the lawful/chaotic part of my alignment more (and riding the border between good and neutral). Two paladins and a bunch of chaotics should make for some interesting party dynamics.

Thanks!

Sorry, I have the ability mods memorized so it feels redundant (already have wisdom score listed). I just like to minimize, I'll put it there anyways.

Drun, which oath do you plan on taking?

I am thinking of going vengeance.

Quote:

The tenets of the Oath of Vengeance vary by paladin, but all the tenets revolve around punishing wrongdoers by any means necessary. Paladins who uphold these tenets are willing to sacrifice even their own righteousness to mete out justice upon those who do evil, so the paladins are often neutral or lawful neutral in alignment. The core principles of the tenets are brutally simple.

Fight the Greater Evil. Faced with a choice of fighting my sworn foes or combating a lesser evil, I choose the greater evil.

No Mercy for the Wicked. Ordinary foes might win my mercy, but my sworn enemies do not.

By Any Means Necessary. My qualms can't get in the way of exterminating my foes.

Restitution. If my foes wreak ruin on the world, it is because I failed to stop them. I must help those harmed by their misdeeds.

The any means necessary part seems to fit well, as well as his general sense of morality.

Formal DM Announcement!

Would everyone please do me two favors. Favor the first, make sure that your gender, race, alignment, class, background, HP, AC, and Passive Perception are listed in the tagline for your character. Many of you have this already but some do not. This is the minimum I'd like to see in everyone's tagline. Those who have more, excellent! Thank you. Favor the second, will everyone please post their backstory in a spoiler on their profile page. As an example you can look at Ashrie VanShorn's profile page. You'll notice at the bottom he has a spoiler labeled backstory. Please, will everyone do that same thing? Thank you!

Boddy would just splurge a very little. He'd buy some decent food for his animals and a few toys for them (a hamster wheel, some balls, that kind of thing). And a bit of luxury food for himself (jellybeans somehow seem gnomeish :-)).

Most of that isn't on the equipment lists for some reason but I'm assuming that we're talking less than a gold?

If I understand the map correctly, those of us who haven't yet moved are at the bottom of a flight of stairs, and thus out of sight? If a rogue were to move up the stairs and shoot from that position, it would be a sneak attack, right (I don't even think a stealth check is required...)? Still trying to figure out how 5e handles those...

Also, my reading is that attacking an enemy who is within 5ft of my ally (or anyone who is the target's enemy) gets you sneak attack even on ranged attacks. Is that right? I hadn't planned on doing a lot of ranged attacking, but it looks like that might be my only option this round...

Quint, as to the first question. I am going to ask for a stealth check contested by the Sahuagin's Perception because you could be heard going up the stairs, but I will be giving you advantage on the check because of the cacophony of battle happening on the other parts of the ship (and maybe because one of the Sahuagin will be laughing hysterically if Boddynuck selects a different target). As to the second question, that is an emphatic yes! If an ally is within 5' of the enemy a rogue is attacking, whether with a ranged or melee attack, they get their sneak attack damage. Rogues! They're awesome again. :)

Just wanted to throw this here for people to discuss. My reading of the rules is that creatures, whether allies or enemies are considered obstacles that provide all the degrees of cover. I base that off of the fact that on page 196 of the PHB it says: "creatures... can provide cover during combat." And later "whether that creature is an enemy or a friend." Later it says: "A target has total cover if it is completely concealed by an obstacle." My logic then is, if a creature, enemy or friend, is an obstacle that can provide the various kinds of cover, it can provide all the various forms of cover. However, as I dug a little deeper, looking in the DMG on page 251 where it discusses using grid maps and miniatures, it says this about Line of Sight: "To precisely determine whether there is line of sight between two spaces, pick a corner of one space and trace an imaginary line from that corner to any part of another space. If at least one such line doesn't pass through or touch an object or effect that blocks vision such as a stone wall, a thick curtain, or a dense cloud of fog-then there is line of sight." Those things they list are very obviously much different than a creature. I've done a quick Google search and seen people who rule it both ways, which means it is basically DM fiat territory. For my own part, in the current situation, thinking about a Gnome (size small) with a half-orc standing only 10' in front of him, trying to target something 15' beyond that, it just didn't seem like there would be a clear line of sight? That language in the DMG makes me second guess myself though. Maybe creatures can only provide half and three-quarters cover, but not total cover, and don't block line of sight?

Discuss!

So to clarify, I have advantage on a stealth check, and if it succeeds, I will have advantage on a ranged attack?

Quote:

I would lean towards a yes to this, because of the pictures on dmg 249. A medium creature doesn't fill a 5 ft cube, and there is much more open space than an arrow slit in a solid wall. And more to the point it leaves a corner open for the grid rules that use lines to determine line of sight.

On the other hand, if creatures provide total cover that could open up some interesting tactical options vs casters. For example in a 5 ft corridor one PC could stand in front and shield the entire party from any spells that directly target them (like a closed door).

That's just my opinion though and really fine either way, its a minor detail. In the current situation he could get a clean shot just by stepping left or right a little, that's totally fine and also adds some tactical depth.

Yup. And just for expedience sake I'll roll the opposing perception check here, so you'll know if/when you post if you're successful or not.

Whichever Sahuagin Quint will target's Perception check to hear him coming up the stairs: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Aren't stealth checks made vs. passive perception unless the character making the perception check is actively searching? I thought that was the whole point of passive perception.

Thank you Gomdebo. I have to say after just looking into the rules and doing some brief thinking about it now, I'm definitely leaning that way (creatures don't block and can't provide total cover). But! You do bring up a good point that allowing creatures to block line of sight, and provide total cover, does open up some interesting things from a tactical point of view for both PCs and bad guys. Obviously I ruled as I did for Boddynuck's situation, and we'll leave it at that. I'd like to hear from everyone here though, just because I like looking at multiple points of view before I make any kind of final decision about anything. :)

Aren't stealth checks made vs. passive perception unless the character making the perception check is actively searching? I thought that was the whole point of passive perception.

That was my initial thought too, but then I thought about the fact that once you're in combat you are, or should be at least, actively scanning for any threats all the time, right? Sort of that heightened sense of awareness when life and death are on the line. And, honestly, I was hoping he'd roll low. :P Didn't know he was going to roll his PP on the dice and then get another +1. :) I'm fine with leaving it at a 15, it's only one digit different. :)

Also, just wanted to say to everyone, I appreciate your patience. I did mention, way back when, under the heading "full disclosure" that this is my first time DMing with these new rules. You all are my guinea pigs, and I appreciate you helping me to get all these little nuances sorted out. You're the best people!!! :)

Ha, just realized I didn't even give him the full bonus on the roll. Sahuagin have a +5 bonus to Perception rolls. Apparently they are really good at seein' stuff. :P

Wait, his passive perception is 15? If so, the roll should have had a +5 bonus, since passive perception (as I understand it) is essentially taking-10 on perception...

If that's not how it works, I need to recalculate mine...

Obviously its totally up to the GM and I'll happily go along with whatever you decide.

That said, 3/4 cover is defined as something like an arrow slit. That seems, to me, MORE than the cover provided by a couple of people in the way. I'm very possibly polluted by playing too much Pathfinder but 1 or two people in the way seems more like half cover to me than 3/4 cover let alone total cover.

To a significant extent it is going to depend on how you want that battle in very cramped quarters to play out. If a couple of bodies provide more than 1/2 cover then pretty much all the time EVERYBODY is (perforce) going to be concentrating on the front rank since they have no viable options. If they don't then at least attacking the back rank becomes viable.

From the "Cover" section of the PHB:

Quote:

There are three degrees of cover. If a target is behind multiple sources of cover, only the most protective degree of cover applies; the degrees aren’t added together. For example, if a target is behind a creature that gives half cover and a tree trunk that gives threequarters cover, the target has threequarters cover.

A target with half cover has a +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has half cover if an obstacle blocks at least half of its body. The obstacle might be a low wall, a large piece of furniture, a narrow tree trunk, or a creature, whether that creature is an enemy or a friend.

Also, while as a rogue I might like to be able to hide behind allies, Lightfoot halflings have a special ability that allows them to hide behind creatures that are at least one size category larger, which strongly implies that anyone else can't.

Yeah, that bit about the arrow slit got me too! After re-reading the rules from both the PHB and the DMG, I realized they only ever specifically mention a creature when talking about half-cover. And after talking to some other DM's in RL, they agreed, though one did say that if the creature providing cover is size large or bigger, he does allow for 3/4 cover in that situation.

Thanks to those that commented. To those that didn't, I realize I left a small time window there, so please feel free to chime in whenever. Moving forward, unless I hear a strong consensus to do otherwise, I will be ruling as follows: creatures of size medium or small, provide half cover only; creatures of size large or bigger can provide 3/4 cover, but never total cover; creatures do not block line of sight/effect.

Sound good?

For those that are interested, and perhaps so that everyone understands just how bad this could get if the dice keep favoring the enemies: Monster Stat Block for Sahuagin. Yes, you read that correctly, they get two attacks every round, and they have advantage on all attacks against any foe that does not have all his/her full HP... It could get really bad, really fast. Funny thing is, according to the encounter building rules in the DMG, this encounter is only considered Medium difficulty!? I'd hate to see a deadly one!!!!??? Lastly, letting you behind the screen a bit here, just because things have turned so badly so quickly, this is the only encounter I have planned for the next twenty-four period in the game, so don't be afraid to pull out all the stops! Use everything at your disposal. I'd hate for the epitaph of Team "good" to read: Brave Heroes? They died before they arrived. :P :P :P
