Kita Misun |
DG, I probably going to submit the Kitsune rogue I've been toying with, there seems to be enough divine love that I can go off and play in a different class.
I will probably have her up later today.
I just realized there is only 1 other skilled at the moment, looking forward to being rogue buddies, Calardan. :T

There's plenty of ranged, even if it doesn't show on there. It looks like there is less melee than anything else.
I likely miscategorized someone or left someone out, that is why I'm asking people to make sure they are on the list or in the right category. If I leave your name out completely when I do recruiting, you'll have a zero chance of getting in. After recruitment closes, I will post the updated list once more and people will have 24-48 hours to make sure they are listed properly before our group starts voting. Those who don't correct me, probably don't care enough to get in.

I'm very interested in this but I do have a question. Marial Versatility. states that I can apply a feat from one weapon on another in the same group. Does this mean that I could use Dervish Dance with an elven curve blade since I'm not holding another weapon (just the original) in my off hand? Regardless, I want to submit an idea, but depending on how this would be ruled could greatly affect the type of character I want to submit.
Anset Ossari |
Doomed Hero here submitting Anset Ossari, Cleric of the Old Gods of Osirian.
My order keeps the old ways. We are the last, the keepers of knowledge and tradition. We keep the books and the tombs., or, rather, we are supposed to. For generations now the line of Princes has kept the tombs sealed. The Pharamsans built a wall to contain and protect them. They call it the Necropolis, but it is less a city for the dead, and more of a cage. Like most monuments to the dead, it is actually there to impress and placate the living.
The Pharamsan priests care not for the strife they cause.
They only care to funnel the angry souls to their mistress' Boneyard.
They want the unruly souls to be still and quiet like a dutiful child.
They care not for what came before.
They care not for the dead themselves.
They care only for the preservation and presentation of the tombs without thought to who the tombs house.
Their goddess is heartless and uncaring of those things which cause the dead to stir.
I care.
The young dead have sworn no oaths and must be brought to heel. They must be taught and they must be heard. Then, they must be judged and laid to rest. It is a right of passage as important as any other which has largely been forgotten by the world. It is why so many souls refuse to quiet. Nobody wants to feel silenced, yet that is what we do the moment a heart stops beating.
The old dead, the dead of Ossirian, they must be made to remember their oaths. They must be counted and added to the great book. Only then will they slumber peacefully.
Now, the Ruby Prince has opened the tombs. Not because of us, though we have petitioned many times, but because of the love of gold. He opens them for plunder and desecration. He is a fool.
My order has gathered, joining many parties, hedging our bets in this lottery. It is imperative that we be among those selected. All of our order, save for the Old Masters, is numbered among the petitioners. Even Acolytes like me ready to enter the tombs.
I can only pray that if I am lucky enough to be chosen that I will also be strong enough to fulfill my duties.
If I am chosen I will judge the dead, or, the dead will judge me.
Tomorrow I will know.
I've been in nearly 100 games on the paizo boards. I've only ever dropped out of 3. I'm currently in about 15 games, two of which I'm running. I'm very, very dedicated to games i join. The longest running game I'm in, a very immersive Kingmaker game, is going into it's 4th year. My job affords me a lot of down time, which I use to write. I'd say I'm online and able to post a solid six hours out of any given day.
I'm reliable, laid back, willing to go with a GM's ruling on just about anything, and very big on keeping a game moving forward. I'm in it for the story. I've been playing the game since the Beta test, but I feel like I'm still learning. (today I learned something new about how the Constrict rules work!)
Necromancers are one of my favorite concepts, but its pretty rare that there's an opportunity to play one in a regular game, so I'm pretty excited about this character.
If that isn't enough to convince you I'd be a valuable addition to your game, I also wrote This.
How's that for a pitch?
I'm working on the crunch right now but I wanted to get the background up for approval in case anything needed to be changed.
Kaylor Traice |
Huh, it wouldn't have occurred to me that people would refer to their own characters with the wrong pronoun. Although I guess that's what happens in The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. I see it a lot with other people referring to someone else's character though. Which is annoying and why one day I will play a trangendered character who gets pissed when people use the wrong pronoun and proceed to attack them every time they mess up.
Nahoçe Sijed |
I'll second DH's pitch that you should choose him, despite the fact that he's in direct competition with me.
That post he referenced is what finally convinced me to dip my toe in the PbP water because I finally knew the ground rules. If I lose this game to him in recompense for that, it's a small price to pay. Thanks, DH!
I'll post my own why-you-should-choose-me later, when it's more fresh in your mind and I can beat out Doomed Hero at the last moment. :-)
Elmar Thonsson |
I've never actually tried PbP before, although a few friends encouraged me to try it. I'm a big fan of Pathfinder, and I really like the idea of being able to post at different times—I find myself with patches of downtime several times a day that would be perfect for posting.
For what it's worth, I also have a lot of experience writing and running roleplaying games, so I can say that my character's speech and actions should be very in-character, well-written, and entertaining as a whole.

No, I haven't. I'll look into it.

That would be impressive to say the least! In my experience, pbp's rarely move that fast...
How often are you hoping to have people posting, obviously more than once a day in that case!
It wouldn't have to be every day, it would be everyone take an action as I continuously post maps, things go faster with maps, even if it is out of combat. Here is the map, here is the situation, here are the npcs, what do you do? Fast forward NPC dialogue.
And let me know when you are ready for the next section of the map.
Okay, you are in town, just buy your stuff, as long as you have the gold you can buy it, as long as you have the item it sells for 50% value, we aren't roleplaying the buying of items to slow up the game, we will however roleplay the other stuff.
Sefu Kadiyk |
Sounds good to me.
In my experience, the slower a PbP game moves, the more likely it is to die. So anything that pushes the tempo is a good thing in my book.
Daily posting (or even multiple posts per day) wouldn't be a problem for me. If you think we can cover a whole 2 books in the space of just over a month, that'd be awesome!
DoubleGold |
Because I found it, this is now a class. It is amazing what you can google up.
However, this is done in secret. You keep your class, but certain abilities of the metagamer replace the class abilities you would have gained. In other words you are a barbarian-metagamer as your class.
You get this class by pming me, but pm me after you have been chosen, I don't want to know ahead of time.
You get:
1. all source book knowledges for free, including mummies mask books, they don't replace anything. Metagaming without this class will be punished. Every once in a while you might target an enemies weakness by accident, but if you seem to have the advantage every time, I'm going to call it, as well as other things. Take this class, if you plan to metagame. Really good treasure hunters can find all treasures without use the books, it is not hard to do. I can find every treasure in almost every RPG video game without even using the book. Some I miss like 1 or 2. I won't call it for finding every treasure.
2. Your level 4, 8, 12, etc abilities will be replace your other stuff with rite of stat-swap. Your character sheet will still say you have the class abilities you are suppose to have, but you will secretly not have them. although it says your abilities cannot go below what they were, I will allow you to go below what you originally were. If you started with 9 wis, you can drop down to 8 wis, 7 wis, etc.
3. Jack of all trades replaces your class level 6 ability. Don't write this on your sheet, the DM knows you have it, and knows you really don't have the level 6 ability. This is 3.5 Jack of all trades, you can use all skills untrained. If you want to prevent others from knowing you have this, you pm me when using an untrained skill, and I roll the result for you.
4. You do get bonus feats at level 5, 10, and 15 and 20, again, don't write this feats on your sheet, pm me and I will secretly added it on to my microsoft excell. This replaces what you would have gotten.
5. Level 20, you get dam the dm. This replaces what you would have gotten at level 20
6. Your Babs and saves do not change, if Barbarian, you get barbarian babs and saves.
7. You do not get metagamer spells
8. You get gift of knowledge at level 14, again the dm knows you have it
9. You are not penalized with lonely genius. You do not get lonely genius.
Drawbacks:
1. No Multi-classing on Metagamer, pick your original class wisely if metagaming with a class. You can use archetypes.
2. Your HP will say one thing but be another and I'll tell you your real HP in private. You secretly have a d6 every other level instead of a d12 or whatever your class would use. So your HP will say 50/100 on your sheet, but it really is 15/65. Level 1 is you class dice, level 2 is d6, level 3 class dice, level 4 d6.
3. If another player makes a knowledge arcana check on you, DC 25 to succeed, they find out you are a metagamer. Each player can use this on any player once per level, and they can retry it on the same player again and again, as long as they reach a new level.
DoubleGold |
Haha, that is rather amusing. Although the main part I find tempting is the Gift of Knowledge.
Is there any actual benefit to knowing another character has levels in metagamer?
Nope, but that would mean your secret is revealed if you planned to hide it.
Edit: I thought it would be funny and people would get a laugh out of it.It reminds me of the south-park video game where "Jew" is a class.

still has not come in yet. It says it will arrive April 30 at the earliest, even though I choose expedited shipping. You never know when Amazon is going to take forever and or mess up or get earlier than you expect, yes there were many times when I got a book 3 days earlier than the earliest date I should have gotten it at, which is nice. I always to try order from companies that have at least a 94% positive rating.
The problem is most of the time I order from Amazon, it is either a day late or at the almost very end of the time it is suppose to get here, even though I normally order something if it is at most 1 state away from my West Virginia, it still gets there late.
Any for anyone who wants to be a gunslinger, I don't know how they work yet, but at the very least we will be playing with emerging guns, possibly even better if the book says so and has more advanced guns. Though you can't craft ammo, I'm not dealing with added game time here and there, and if it isn't find-able on enemies, you'll be paying full price for it.
DoubleGold |
okay, book is in, 24 hours to sign up cut off. The book 1, does not seem to have guns, so guns are emerging for now, and you have to buy not craft guns and ammo, but you can make your starting gun upgraded to masterwork for the 300 gold using the gunsmith kit, but that is it.
After the sign up cut off, 24 hours after that me and my friends will have our picks.
As far as the story, I will read/write it off to you and take you to your first dungeon. The first door to the first dungeon is suppose to be locked, but I'm just going to say it is unlocked, because it is very tricky to get it open and my goal isn't to hold up PCs, but to set a record for getting the game as fast as possible without breaking to much of the story or rules. The introduction does not give you any chance to roleplay or give you a chance for choices, which is why I'm just going to read off the stuff and take you to the first dungeon.
I will use google docs and I have it mastered by now, so it would take me 30 minutes to get it up once the game starts, and I will map out the entire dungeon, but leave out traps, treasures and enemies until your in-character can actually see them.

Okay, time for my sales pitch so you can forget about what's-his-name. ;-)
I typically check the boards 5-6 times per day on weekdays, more spotty on weekends but generally at least once or twice a day. I've been PbP'ing for six months and I've surprised myself by keeping this pace since first being accepted into my first game.
For examples of my Roleplay Fu, you can read the exploits of Goragg the Hobgoblin scout (also here), or Yugatta Sakittumi, or even Reta BigBad.
Background story come first with my characters, and that drives traits and skill choices, making for less optimized "build" but a character that has an internal consistency that helps decide what they will do in any situation.
I'm a team player that's not afraid of intraparty (verbal) conflict when the characters and/or situation calls for it.
Also, if I roll a natural 20 on this, you *have* to take me.
Oh please oh please oh please: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Eh, it was worth a try. Good luck to all, and to all a good adventure.
Kaylor Traice |
I will be able to get it up, was able to get all google docs and excel stuff to work. I gained 3 skill points in knowledge online computer skills during the course of our homebrew.
Also, I'm now a level 20 DM.
I now find myself wondering how much skill a skill rank would be IRL... For example, how many skills would you have for a 4 year degree?
Yumi Chiaki |
As promised my background is up and here is my sales pitch
Because I enjoy writing and I have the time to dedicate to a fast pasted PbP.
From a character point of view, I don't have the typical greedy rogue, she's in it for the adventure of exploration. Treasure is a nice perk yes but that isn't her drive. There is no need to worry about her causing issues with the other PCs (or me for that matter) over who gets what. She'll put in request for any equipment that would suit her over any one else but simple due to it being an upgrade. Additionally, she will make a good driving force due to her motivation for this whole expedition being her love of discovering ancient cities and ruins. She will constantly wanting to move to the next room as opposed to sitting around for 10 post squabbling about whether or not enough of the room has been searched.
tl;dr Player has enough spare time to dedicate to a fast paced PbP and would enjoy it. Character will make a good driving force to keep the party moving and won't cause issues by being greedy.
Elmar Thonsson |

How many fights have you won? Considering that classes with decades of education (Wizard, Druid, etc.) tend to start at level 1 when they enter the real world, I'd say a 4 year degree might not actually give you any bonus skills not associated with class.
