It stopped indicating that there were new posts in the thread. It's referred to as "dotting" because the board used to put a black dot next to the thread in addition to the (# posts).
When yo upost in a thread, it puts a dot in front of it in the messageboard list, which lets you easily see threads you've posted in. It also means if you click on the "Focus" button, that thread will show up.
However, the dots sometimes disappear, which makes it difficult for people who use that method to find their PBP threads.
Getting back, guys; sorry for the day. Rough week or so, but I'm catching up. I'll have us updated over the next day or so, and we can get back on track.

Not much for me to do. Ben's abilities are fairly limited to picking things up and putting them down.
You can always try. You've got a 25 percent chance to make friends, and there's no harm in failing. Louly's not really got the social skills she needs either, but the more people we can get on our side the better. Of course, if Ben's just a bit more of a loner, definitely play him that way.
You could challenge another member of the crew to a boxing, wrestling, or armwrestling match. Build a rep as someone too tough to risk messing with. Or, you could talk some smack, goad one of Scourge's lackeys into taking a swing at you, forcing Scourge to lash them or lose the respect of the crew.
Indeed, Ben - keep in mind that there are several things you can do; the above are excellent suggestions, and it seems like there is always gambling or entertainment. If you're feeling particularly froggy, you could always attempt to sneak about the ship or open something that's locked, like the individual pirate lockers.
You can alwaya attempt to entertain some of the crew with a fine story of your reefclaw adventure, too.
GM Rap, I noticed you've updated the Runelords thread, but not this one the last couple of days. Are you waiting for one or more of us to post something before updating?
Not trying to be pushy, (I know you have real - life stuff going on) I'm just curious if there's anything we, as players, need to do to facilitate things.

My *guess* is it's a lot more work to update this one -- three days worth of actions for all of us, with different characters to role-play means sitting down for a good hour-plus, if I had to guess -- whereas the Runelords is a quick little role-playing at the moment.
No worries. Half my concern is the updates not showing up, then missing something or having to catch-up because the messageboard didn't indicate new posts.
I've seen that work against GMs also. The board doesn't indicate new updates, so they figure their players haven't posted replies yet, so they don't post and then everyone's confused.
I sincerely hope the board operators figure out what's causing the glitch.
In the meantime, enjoy your time with your family. As I tell my RL gaming group, family stuff always has priority.

Not sure what my posting status will be for the next week or so. I was originally supposed to go on vacation to D.C. Monday through Wednesday, which might have limited my posting (though I'd probably still be able to check in at least once a day). Now that trip is up in the air thanks to Stormageddon: The Rainening.
Anyway, if I'm home I may have lots of free time to post. Unless I lose power, in which case I won't be posting at all.
So, to sum up, I'll either be posting a lot, the normal amount or not at all in the next few days.
I hope everyone and their families are ok after stormageddon. Take your time getting back to a regular schedule, the important stuff comes first, take care.
Sorry for the hiatus guys; Gregor and Ben - I'm hoping I didn't lose you, but please let me know either way. I know the ship days are getting a bit tedious (I even shortened them from the scripted requirement!), but change is on the wind, I assure you.
Please let me know if you're still out there and post your actions.
Adam - to reiterate...I now despise the San Fran players on your team:)
Ha! The Niners came up big on MNF, can't believe the 25 point comeback with a defense and TE vs. Forte. Von Miller has been winning it for me though, broke 20 three weeks in a row.

Gregor's not posted since Oct. 26, though I see the player's had posts Nov. 16 and 11. I'd at the least send him a PM to see if he's still interested.
Ben's last post was Nov. 2. I've seen a couple comments about the storm messing everything up at the start of the month, so maybe DMPC him if you want to give him more time. Considering Ben's general attitude, I think you could safely assume he's keeping to himself without it being out of character for him.
(FWIW, my feeling is replace them and Karn and let's get the game going again. Honestly, I'd even say we could drop the Runelords game if we can get back to this being more regular, but that may just be me. I know it's hard running multiple games, though and this one definitely looks like a lot of work from where I'm sitting as a player.)
It seems unlikely at this point that Karn will come back. We should definiteIy give Gregor a chance to chime in. He may have lost his update notices. As long as we haven't lost Gregor, I'm fine continuing with our current crew without replacements.
In the event that Gregor has left us, I presume at some point in this pirate-themed campaign that we will be attacking a ship. Whenever that occurs, we could probably play out a scenario where new PCs are offered the option of joining the crew or dying.
We could also find players willing to assume identities already on the ship (Sandara, Rosie, Owlbear, etc.). The only problem with that is most players want to build their own characters, not play one that was already made.
Anyway, that's my two cp on the situation. I'm enjoying the campaign and would prefer it not fall by the wayside.

I just PM'd a player in one of my games to replace Karn, but he's apparently not interested in S&S. Will try a few more folks, but honestly, I might just re-open recruitment since I think we definitely need three people. I'd certainly still direct folks I know are good/active players to the thread.
I definitely want to keep going here (though I think we should let the Runelords game go so we can concentrate on this one).
Alas, I agree. I was hoping that the Runelords campaign would be a bit easier to manage but it was created when the system was a bit younger, so there are a lot of wide open gaps of time that I have to fill with creative misadventures. I unfortunately don't have the time to do so...largely why I run modules instead of trying to make up my own campaigns.
So - my apologies, but yes we'll have to cancel the ROTR campaign. I'll invite our dwarven friend from over there to join us here in S&S; and we'll keep this one going strong.

Sounds good to me! Like I said way back when, I liked the idea of doing another game but not at the expense of this one. I'd say open up the recruitment thread and let's add two or three more people in.
