Khaz Dourblade |
"Torag! Look down upon this land and show us your blessing!" He was incensed to see a wolf squatting in dwarven ruins. To him this was holy ground, and despite the fact that he had never actually hit anyone with his hammer, he wasn't about to slink away when he knew his god was watching. His stomach felt like it was in knots and his hands were slick with sweat. But with comrades by his side, he had high hopes.
Khaz casts bless, causing the weapons of his allies to briefly glow with the light of the forge.
And with that he has used up all of his actions. +1 to hit in close combat for us

I will make that your 1st action after initiative. Your first turn was double move behind JP. Plus, not everyone is inside of 50' to receive the blessing right now.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
In the absence of action-altering data gleaned from the two checks above, Arun hustles forward towards the barbarian and cleric single move to square P15 , sensibly slowed by a reluctance to become involved in front-line melee. Casting his eyes about in caution, he prepares ready action to direct a blinding ray at any foe who approaches within 30' with aggressive intent.

"Gentlemen - beware! The one we hear is a Warg; they're fast and will command common wolves. There may be goblins with them too..."
Sariel Patrick Cornelius |
'What a beautiful woods, Erastil has certainly blessed this area, I wonder what we will find at the ... who's that 'Grey pelt the slayer?' Sariel begins to move forward with Jean-Pierre, 'I need to encourage Jean Pierre to be more cautious...Warg, there is a warg? and goblins? We must rid the mines of this evil!' Following as quickly as his armor and shield will allow, Sariel moves forward, drawing his sword, looking for the beast so he can 'smite the evil.' "Come Grey Pelt the righteous of Erastil and Torag are here to greet you."

With a roar, Jean-Pierre charges forward (to P6), and takes a swing at one of the wolves!
Greatsword, Charge, Rage, Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 16, for 2d6 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (2, 6) + 10 + 3 = 21 damage.
GM Mason |
Jean-Pierre's swing is true. He charges and cuts one of the wolves in half. It barely has time to feel any pain.
GM Mason |
is the Worg visable?
Yes, but the pit isn't! Muhahahahaha!
He is in the shadows, but you can see him.
Sariel Patrick Cornelius |
yeah, I can't get to him either, maybe next round.
'Blast I can't get to the Worg, but I don't have to leave it's allies. Charging toward the northern wolf, Sariel attacks with his sword, but calling to the Worg. "You are next Worg, come face us!"

ROUND ONE
Two wolves sprint out of the cave from behind the wolf (K-2,M-2). One of them attacks Sariel and one of them attacks JP. The one attacking JP waits until it has a partner to flank with.

Sariel Patrick Cornelius |
a shame these innocent wolves will follow that creature.'Seeing the worg attack his friends, Sariel pausing for a moment, looks from the warg, to the wolf he had injured. "No reason to let you suffer." he then swings his sword at the injured wolf again. Stepping back toward the worg, he looks at the second wolf to see if it will flee.

Khaz Dourblade |
Hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
This is it! Torag watches! In the shadows of the ancestors he watches. No fear, no fear, no fear...he ran forward to the warg attacking Arun, a wordless battlecry that he hoped wound ferocious on his lips. Against all odds and reason it landed true!
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 4) + 4 = 13
GM Mason |
Both JP and Sariel finish off a wolf each. Khaz steps up to aid Arun and hits the worg for a surprising amount of damage. "Stinking Dwarven scum!"
Arun Smithson |
Full round action : withdraw, 2 spaces due east.
Bleeding heavily from the Warg's tearing of his right leg, Arun barely keeps his feet. He staggers backward, seeking some protection behind his allies.
Avogadro the Astounding |
Avogadro back away from Sariel's fight to make some attempt to aid his colleague who was being malled by the worg. As he steps towards the huge wolfen thing he catches his foot on a root, stumbling but not falling; as he reaches out to steady himself brightly coloured dust billows from his sleaves.
Move to J11, standard to cast colour spray (DC15)
Those were some unlucky rolls GM, we got lucky there! Got another one for your will save?
GM Mason |
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Muhahaha!
The worg is able to fight off the effects of the spell.
Fergal then the wolves.
Fergal MacMorran |
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Fergal, seeing the damage done to Arun by the worg, yells out, "Not on my watch, you don't!" and swings, his staff whistling through the air and crunching as it connects.
dmg: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9
Rusco |
Fergal's divinely empowered staff hits the creature's spine and a crunching noise is heard.
Rusco growls, as if the the two have history, and then moves to O9. On his way, the worg addresses him, "Traitor scum. You join these two legged intruders? Fight for your kind!" The fox opens its maw and a cone of frozen mist spews forth, engulfing the worg.

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Party is up.
Avogadro the Astounding |
Liking what happened last time Avogadro reaches out his arms once more, flicking his hands as if drying them. Once more coloured powder billows forth.
Same again
GM Mason |
Wolf Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Worg Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
The wolf that moved up to aid the worg crumples under the influence of the spell cast by Avogrado. The worg is able to withstand it again though. You stole my crit roll!
One wolf on JP and the worg on Khaz and Fergal are all that are left.
Arun Smithson |
Gritting his teeth against the pain, Arun raises his right arm, and projects forward a bolt of vivid green energy. It bursts againts the side of the Warg's face, bathing it an a brief burst of coruscating light.
magic missile: 1d4 ⇒ 3
With his move action, he draws a dagger, just in case...
Khaz Dourblade |
Khaz takes a step back and channels the energy of Torag in an attempt to heal the wounds of himself and Arun.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Due to his wounds, he fails to concentrate sufficiently, and only manages to halt the worst of the bleeding.
Will add CMD. It's 14 normally, 18 vs trip. So no, he wasn't tripped
Jean-Pierre de Suis |
His face suffused with rage, Jean-Pierre attempts to cut down the wolf still assaulting him...
Greatsword, Rage, Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 27, for 2d6 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 + 3 = 21 damage.

He then hustles back in the direction of the worg (moving to M9).
Fergal MacMorran |
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Fergal steps into his next swing, cracking the worg again with his staff.

dmg: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
Trip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
GM Mason |
Arun's magic missile causes the worg to wince in pain. 31 damage
Khaz was tripped by the worg. Do you want to stand? Do you have selective channeling or do you plan to heal the worg?
JP destroys his wolf.
Fergal and Rusco both damage the worg. 41 damage
Rusco trips the worg, which falls belly side up bleeding profusely.
Sariel: I wasn't able to move your wolf on the map earlier. He actually went to help the worg and then was laid unconscious by Avo's spell. You can coupe de gras him soon. I'll move you to finish the worg if that is OK.
Sariel brings his bastard sword down on the worg, severing its head from its body!
Sariel then turns and finishes off the last wolf.
Combat is over.
Jean-Pierre de Suis |
Jean-Pierre drops out of rage, and nods in satisfaction.
"This one suggests dragging the bodies away, so they don't attract carrion-eaters, and then searching this cave which they were so desperate to protect..."
He then moves to do exactly that.
Fergal MacMorran |
"Yeah, let's be doin' that." Fergal says, falling in next to the bigger man, Rusco at his heels.
Assuming we make it that far, pausing for Perception at the cave mouth.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Khaz Dourblade |
Khaz picks himself up and dusts himself looks around embarassadely. He didn't know that his channeling would heal the enemy too! Luckily it didn't seem to have harmed the party, as of yet. He continued healing now that the wolves were all dead.
2x Channels, now out: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
domain power, 1x shield and 1x bless left
What started slowly at first grew into a burst of healing that brought the party back to full strength. Though when he was done Khaz was certainly feeling the strain of allowing the power of the divine to flow through him.
Sariel Patrick Cornelius |
retcon
'The wolf is down, I will put him out of his misery later, need to deal with the worg.' Sariel helps with the attack on the Worg, then returns to the wolf and put's it out of it's misery.
now
'At least this evil will not continue.' Sariel nods to the wolves and worg. "It would be nice to at least take the hides, so we do not waste them. But we are in a hurry."
Sariel, sword and shield in hand, follows Jean-Pierre and Fergal. Calling over his shoulder, "Come on Khaz, I've never been in a dwarven mine before, you can tell us what everything is."
Khaz Dourblade |
Khaz instantly brightens up. With a beaming smile on his face he begins walking towards the mine entrance, already going on about the wonders of dwarven architecture (as per his knowledge engineering).
Arun Smithson |
Arun dusts himself down, looking ruefully at the bloodstains on his clothing. He casts 'Mend' to repair his shredded clothing, and any other minor damage to the party's kit. Slapping Khaz on the back, he offers wordless thanks to the dwarf and Torag for the well-needed healing he received.
Looking around at the others before heading into the mines, he informs them that he is running low on magical prowess, but {b]"I still have power to perform one spell of any type, plus an extraordinary silent illusion of great credibility, should we have need of such."[/b]. Other than that, it's magic missiles, or gods forbid, a crossbow.
Passing the minced wolf eviscerated by JP, he looks again at the barbarian with a mixture of fear and awe.
Onward to the dwarven tunnels !
